19/05/2025: Super clean hotel, located on the Shanon River, friendly staff, helpful and kind! But eating in the in-house restaurant is only for gourmets. We came on our tour from Bantry, unpacked and explored the town, were really hungry, went into the restaurant and were looking forward to the food, it was beautifully presented but we didn't get full, although the breakfast was great!!!

27/04/2025: My wife and I took my parents to Balrothery Inn today for dinner , the staff were excellent and when they saw my Father was elderly and slow on his feet they accommodated us with a suitable table for easy access, the staff were lovely and polite and attentive considering they were flat out busy , the food was excellent we all cleared our plates , I was watching the staff being so attentive with other senior citizens and people in wheel chairs credit to them all , a special thank you to Aaron Gough and the ladies that attended to us , I will definitely be back soon , thank you all so much

06/05/2025: We really enjoyed our stay here. We visited for 3 nights and the beds were comfy, there was a fridge in the room and the bathroom was very spacious. The grounds are lovely and we went to the fairy trail and played in the playground with our little girl. It was easy to get Bottled water to make bottles which made life easier. Breakfast in the mornings was absolutely class We loved it! The breakfast staff were top class! The rooms were cleaned daily and staff very friendly. We went to the swimming pool at the spa which was quite cold for a baby (26 degrees) and there weren't many facilities for baby changing. I asked the staff could my husband take my daughter and they said that only facilities were in the women's (this was a mistake on their part as there are facilities in the men's too) The only thing i didn't enjoy was our restaurant experience in Amber. I would have expected better service from a restaurant within a 5* hotel.

06/05/2025: The rooms were luxurious, spacious and clean. My wife and I stayed over night for a wedding. It was a nice venue with nice food. My wife is coeliac (gluten free) so she notified staff of this. 30mins after finishing the meal she was throwing it all back up, having had to run to the bathroom. She spent the whole night in bed feeling unwell and missing our friend's wedding. Something must have been cross-contaminated or not prepared gluten free. I spoke to a member of staff that night to log the issue. On check out there was no mention of it so I had to raise it. The duty manager advised that all processes were followed and that it often happens at weddings with so many meals being served and it was just unfortunate. He seemed to be just trying to fob it off - i.e. these things happen and it's unfortunate. I think if the food you serve is often causing people to be sick, you should revisit your processes. We have never had issues at other weddings and often go out for food. The duty manager eventually offered us complimentary afternoon tea and made sure he had our details and would email us in a day or two. We have not received an email in the month since then. ___________________________________________________________ Update: The Guest Relations Manager contacted me the day after posting this review. She was very apologetic and could see in the hotel’s notes that there had been a mix up in handling this issue. She assured me that they take dietary requirements seriously and that it should not have happened my wife. We were offered a complimentary experience to make up for the error and were impressed with how the Guest Relations Manager handled it. She did not prompt me to change the review - her intention seemed to be that we were looked after. She also asked how my wife was since which was appreciated.

01/05/2025: Authur's is a great spot with great food and drink. I have yet to order a side or dish that disappoints or is subpar. The staff are very friendly and kind. It gets pretty busy at times, so asking nicely will get you sorted. I'm a local and really enjoy this place over the other pubs in the area. It has 1 outdoor covered area and another open area. A bit of a darker pub but I like it. It does have cozy lighter seating as well. This is my spot 👌

12/05/2025: I love this coffee shop, I can't pass without getting a coffee and have been known to drive from sligo to get a coffee, too, lol. I just we had one in Sligo. Always friendly service. Loads of indoor and outdoor seating. In the summer, they even have a coffee cart open outside to save you queuing inside if you're not getting food. Loads of parking around too.

28/05/2025: Was there for dinner with my son @7pm on a Saturday. Lovely cute place with nice decor. The portions were sizeable and delicious. The staff were both attentive & professional. I would definitely recommend 👌

25/05/2025: We came visited Strandhill twice on our vacation in the Sligo area… we also went to Shells twice and enjoyed a terrific lunch each time. Whether it’s a fried calamari salad or another lunch special, you can’t go wrong. This place also has lovely baked goods and excellent coffee. Don’t hesitate, there is a reason why this place is hopping!

03/06/2025: My review is about the restaurant. Because it was so busy, the four of us got a table at 5:30 PM. I'm not sure if the booking situation is due solely to the quality of the restaurant or to the fact that there are hardly any alternatives nearby. Probably both. From the outside, an inconspicuous building located on the pier, but inside, a great atmosphere. The food was excellent, as was the young service. Despite being constantly busy, the atmosphere in the restaurant was very relaxed and pleasant. We made another reservation for the next day, but this time later. The second visit the following day wasn't quite as good – it was more like a mass-produced restaurant with a fairly limited menu. But I definitely recommend it for a visit.

16/05/2025: Out of all the bars/pubs I've gone to in this area, which is loaded with them, I find the atmosphere, layout, and visuals are by far the very best in this area.

12/05/2025: Excellent sirloin steaks with impeccable cooking. Meals vary in price ranges but are all good. The atmosphere is cosy, the pub has a large selection of cocktails, live music at 9pm... You can spend the whole day here, lots to do, drink, eat, talk and party 🎉

20/04/2025: Went with a group of 16 for a family dinner. Fantastic food, excellent portion sizes, good value for money. Everyone thought the food was fab. We will definitely be back.
