04/08/2025: The best coffee around! Great service too

17/07/2025: The coffee was gorgeous. They had great choices, high protein, alternative milks, iced drinks. It was spotlessly clean and fresh. The staff were lovely. Well priced. They have lovely looking pastries. However, they had one gluten free option, unwrapped, underneath and in the same case as the regular pastries. Very susceptible to cross contamination. Pity because it looked exceptionally good.

17/03/2026: Nice place.Food was good but portions were small, we left hungry. Not the greatest value for money; if I remember correctly it was €8.20 for a pint of Guinness. Service was good, quick and professional.

03/02/2026: A good hotel in a great location in Carrick-on-Shannon. Rooms were comfortable, staff were friendly, and everything was well kept. Parking available, which made things easy. Overall a pleasant stay and a solid choice for visiting the area.

16/02/2026: Terrible staff extremely racist. Went in for a few drinks with my friends and they told me they wouldn’t serve me because they thought because I was a traveller that I was the person they had problems with in the past, when I tried to explain that it was not me, the lady put her hand in my face and slapped my hands and phone away. Never felt more embarrassed in my life. Was told I would get a call back with an apology and got nothing of the sort. If I could give 1 star I would.

16/02/2026: Be warned staff will overcharge you here. Came here on Saturday night for a friends' leaving night and the place is nice, staff are friendly. However I ordered two pints when I got there, which was €13.50, so €6.75 per pint. Later on in the night I got one pint and I was charged €8.50. I didn't check the card machine before tapping my phone, and didn't notice until the next day, otherwise I would have said it. Either this place is using some kind of variable pricing, or the barman added a tip without asking me, or just simply overcharged me, because in what world is a pint of beer €8.50, not sure Temple Bar would even be that expensive. I tried to find an email address for the bar to say this to them directly without posting it here but they don't seem to have one. The chicken goujons were ok but I only got three small ones, not great for the price. The DJ will also deafen you when he starts, and once he starts all chance of conversation with your friends goes out the window.

07/09/2025: Bring your own pillows and tvs are cheap with only a few channels but location is great and breakfast is good although coffee wasn’t so good

07/09/2025: The lobby on entering the hotel was fabulous. But as soon as we got to our room that’s where it ended. Bathroom was not clean, Stains around the bin on the floor, problem with the hose for the shower, kept popping off the shower head, silicone around shower base has mould on it. At €277 a night I thought we would have a mini fridge or cooler in the room but we didn’t.

10/03/2026: I go in every Sunday for a hot chocolate and I must say it's a fantastic pub staff are very friendly and service is great what is great is the mill behind the counter it's really very well done I haven't had a meal there yet but I will it's always lovely and clean and a pleasure to go into Hugo quilty

23/12/2025: Stopped by for a coffee and a snack in the middle of last-minute Christmas shopping. Flat whites were lovely and the brownies were so good - fudgy and rich and delicious. Atmosphere was great too and the staff were friendly.

16/12/2025: Very disappointed with hygiene standards Was in Café M in Castlebar recently. Food itself was fine, but the hygiene practices I observed were poor and hard to ignore. I watched food preparers carrying out multiple different tasks while wearing the same gloves throughout — including scratching and then continuing food prep — without changing gloves or washing hands. Gloves are only effective if they’re changed regularly; clean hands are far better than dirty gloves. I don’t blame the staff on the floor — this looks like a training and management issue rather than individuals not caring. However, food hygiene has to be taken seriously, as it directly affects customer safety. I hope management review their procedures and provide better training, as this is easily fixable but very important. Also the coffee had a slightly sour taste. This is common on a machine that needs a little TLC.
