The best restaurants

15/01/2026: The food was good and well presented. While none of the dishes particularly impressed me, everything tasted good overall.

22/11/2025: Well what can we say? Each and every dish was so good! Especially the fish course. Not much of a fish person but Lady Helen converted me! We were full by the veal course but it was so good that we finished it. We did not go for wine pairing but ordered a bottle between the two of us. I meam the wine was lovely. Every time we come to Kilkenny, we come to the Lady Helen. Thank you again and can't wait to be back!

09/01/2026: A lovely pub; just the place to grab a hot drink after a rainy day. The owner behind the bar was friendly and fun to talk to. Also, I forgot a water bottle when I left and the owner asked another patron to try and return it to me if they found me, and they did! So I’d say that’s just another testament to the quality of The Bar and its staff.

09/02/2026: I have edited this review due to the initial review being written after some drinks. I felt it was a bit more of a rant than a constructive review. We didn’t have food so can’t review that aspect. Our first night was a good experience. We stayed for around an hour and had a couple of drinks which were nice, then went around a few other bars. A good experience. Second night we arrived to a very pleasant manager at the door, however once we sat at the bar we were ignored. Sat for about 15 minutes beside the bar and no-one made eye contact or asked for an order, so we eventually just left. There were at least 3-4 staff walking around. There was a male bar staff member who also made us feel uncomfortable. He wouldn’t stop hovering around his female colleague who was busy preparing drinks. He literally came to the sink directly beside our table as we were sat at the bar, within 4 feet, never looked at us, and cleaned utensils for her to use and brought them to her. He was obviously more concerned with making an impression on her than serving me and my partner. His had a weird energy toward her and we weren’t sure the female staff member was even interested in talking to him. It was shortly after this we decided to just leave. I want to note that I was contacted by a manager who wanted to speak with me about this experience to deal with the concerns raised in this review which was appreciated. It was a shame to have a poor experience but I do believe it has been taken seriously and management do want to provide a good service.

17/03/2026: Amazing food, even better service! ​Had a brilliant lunch at Mao recently. The ambiance is super cozy yet classy. We tucked into spring rolls, fries, Tofu Pad Thai, and a rich Thai Red Curry-all of which were 10/10. ​The real highlight, though, was the staff. They are so polite and truly make the experience special. Plus, parking is a breeze in Stillorgan Village. I’ll definitely be back!

17/03/2026: We have eaten in Mao twice in the last two weeks, and each visit has been a joy. We are used to going to Musashi and were hoping it would be on par as Mao is more convenient for us. It exceeded our expectations. The meat (duck, beef, prawn, and chicken) was so flavoursome and cooked to perfection; the vegetables were so fresh; and the portion sizes were great (almost too good, as we couldn't fit in a dessert). The atmosphere was relaxed (perfect for families), and there is a good distance between tables, so noise or overbearing conversations aren't an issue. The staff were also so nice and accommodating. We'll definitely be visiting more regularly. Well done to all staff.

23/01/2026: Went in today to get some sandwiches to go for lunch. Was an exceptional experience thanks to Chris, who made our food, and made our day. He was attentive, careful and friendly. A true artist. Will be going back and would definitely recommend a sandwich by Chris.

12/03/2026: Horrible horrible horrible. The staff is so rude and impolite. Its a small request to all the people living in and near clonsilla to avoid ordering from this store. They dont know how to treat the customers and therefore this place does not deserve to operate in our area.

18/10/2025: I could not fault the rendezvous. We have been there for food as a family and we recently just celebrated my daughters 2nd birthday. We had a fantastic spread of finger food for 10 adults, fabulous variety and gorgeous quality. We were looked after by Josh from the booking to paying the bill and I could not find fault in the whole day. The service was impeccable the food was exceptional and nothing we asked for was too much. The extra attention to detail given to the kids with colouring and ice cream which was really appreciated. Compliments to the chef on a beautiful spread of food. We've also eaten from the main menu previously and the options were fantastic, an option for all. Definitely somewhere to go for a party, a few drinks or a Sunday/Saturday afternoon.

28/12/2025: The food here is just amazing.... Everytime I go to kilkenny this is always my first stop for breakfast. Last time I went I arrived on Tuesday morning the only day that it's closed.... I was very tired and hungry after a late night ferry trip and to find it closed was so disappointing I almost cried. That is how good this cafe is...... Needless to say I went there the very next day and as always I was not disappointed with either the food or the service which as always were first class. If your going to kilkenny you should definitely go to this cafe at least once if not multiple times during your visit. Multiple trips help to decide what to have off the menu because it's all so delicious it's can be extremely hard to decide what to have..... I will make sure my next trip to kilkenny doesn't have me arriving on a Tuesday morning because I don't want to relive the disappointment of seeing the doors of this cafe closed.......
