The best restaurants

09/06/2026: Popped in for chowder and pint after a local race. Was a small crowd in for pre wedding drinks and staff weren’t able. Ordered my pint and chowder for a nice waitress. Went outside, had to get my own water. Pint came and then the chowder, no napkin, no knife for the butter etc. Chowder was nice, nothing special. Great location and potential - staff and service could have been better.

09/06/2026: Disappointing stay- as a returning guest I will not return anymore. Check in got off on a poor note. We travelled 3hrs to the hotel in bad weather conditions, arrived late in the evening. We were left standing at reception while the receptionist engaged in general chit chat with a guest from the bar who stood drinking his pint. No problem waiting, but we were not even acknowledged until they were done chatting after some time. We were then informed of a power outage. No back up generators were available, we checked into our dark room and could not use the toilet or shower facilities due to no power. The receptionist advised we could travel to a town 30min away for evening dinner as this town may have electricity. The power had been out for some time, I felt it may have been an option for the hotel to contact guests who had not yet checked in and inform them re food provisions. As mentioned we travelled 3hrs and had driven past the town suggested to us for dinner. That said, the receptionist was obliging and phoned us to say the power had returned. We turned and went back to the hotel for dinner. This was highly disappointing. I sent my meal back as the chicken was half hot and half cold in the middle. My partners meal also fell far below acceptable standard especially for the cost. A burger from a takeaway would have been better standard as the bun crumbled it was so burned. Some of our food was dropped to the incorrect table also and was not prepared until after we had finished our meal. However, the wait staff were extremely helpful and friendly and apologetic of the situation. We did not have to pay for some of the meal. Our room was extremely hot and stuffy even with windows open during the night. At 6am in the morning we realised we were in an adjoining family room, as we woke to a young child crying. The noise appeared extremely close due to only having a door in the room separating us from the family. €225 for a room only rate, hugely disappointing and poor value for money. We stayed approximately 4years ago and returned due to having had a positive experience and enjoying our stay. We had also eaten in the restaurant during this stay and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Receptionist on check out did not ask how our stay was and allow the opportunity for feedback. Limited in accommodation in Schull doesn’t leave much options for alternative accommodation, I would suggest travelling from a nearby town instead of staying in this particular overpriced, underwhelming accommodation.

03/09/2026: Best pint of Murphy's in Limerick city. Just as you get over the bridge and the atmosphere is good. Can be very busy for rugby matches, but it is good atmosphere.

11/08/2026: Unfortunately I didn't realise there was a dress code and was refused entry at 1:30pm on a Tuesday. There were only 2 other people in the pub. I had just finished work and wanted a quick Guinness. Mickey Martin's were more than happy to take my money thankfully 🙂

22/06/2026: From an American perspective the entrance was misleading. The lobby is very grand but there was nothing fancy about the room. No AC and only one small fan for our large room. No ventilation for the bathroom. Leaving the windows open broght in air and all the noise. The coffee maker is the most confusing machine I have ever encountered and it made espresso requiring hot water as well. The staff were very quick to provide more supplies as we ruined several trying to figure out the stupid thing. Close to the hop on bus which we used.

22/08/2026: Really lovely spot at the edge of the forest, good sandwiches and hot dogs for around €6-7. The pastries are good too; we had a lemon cake and a coffee cake with a nice frosting, about €3-4 a slice. American coffee was around €3. I highly recommend it for an afternoon snack or a picnic lunch. It has nice tables and comfortable seats too.

08/08/2026: Nice location but thats it unfortunately. Very expensive. €4.80 for an ice pop and €7 for a small milkshake is extortionate. Plus the coffee wasn't good at all, full of ground coffee bits

14/08/2026: Terrible service. Had to clear the plates ourselves, fetch the menus, ask for salt and condiments , wasnt asked if we wanted more drinks (we did but left it), I'm no way shape or form they made us feel welcome or a guest. Food is beyond mediocre and saving grace was the soup, which was delicious. Served with stale bread. Try somewhere else in my opinion.

01/09/2026: Nice clean cafe in Glenroyal hotel. Overpriced cakes and coffee. Visited again today,...looks like a price hike in coffee 4.50euro had to laugh, so, instead of having 2 coffees a week it's now down to one. I'm saving and Glenroyal soda losing, maybe twice because coffee is cheaper elsewhere and just as nice. It's merchandise is also expensive for a cafe market.

20/03/2026: This is hands down the best place around Navan to get a kebab—it’s worth the trip just to grab one! Their kebabs are top-tier in price, portion, and taste. The pizzas are even better than a Pizza Hut-style, but superb. The staff treats you like gold—if you go regularly, they know you and what you love. Super friendly, and the service is an 11 out of 10!

02/09/2026: Recommend by others online The main menu is fine but check the special board It has some really good food Solo traveler in a T5 van Did not book in advance So given a table by the bar I can't blame them but you miss the banter of the restaurant As for the food can't complain abd would Recommend Also the wine menu is not big but realy good Lost one star for seating but I do get it

15/08/2026: Upon entering the Revellers lodgings we went sure if we were in the right place as entered into a bar. The location is right in the heart of town, rooms are very spacious and clean. Rooms have all the facilities to make our stay comfortable. Also very private and quiet. I would like to thank the lovely older lady behind the bar who made us feel very welcome and took the time to speak with us. Would highly recommend this place for accommodation.
