The best restaurants

28/02/2026: This McDonalds has many problems... First it is FAR TOO SMALL not just for Cavan town, but for its location. Nearly always jammed up because its carpark is tiny, and the exit for the drive through junctions at the entrance for the establishment. Grand design for the 90s maybe. Not for now. Also, most McDonalds nowadays caters to children with a playground type area. This one does not as it does not have the space. If you do have time to kill, and go through the drive through, 8 times put of 10 your food will be cold. (Checked immediately after recieving it, not down the road) They only care to give hot food to people sitting inside, as those customers can go up to the counter to complain. With the drive through, (probably of all mcdonalds) there is never a full menu on display. Only their deals or new stuff. Staff are fine. Usually just young kids. And lastly, can anyone tell me what the difference between a Small, Medium and Large meal is?

22/02/2026: Ordered chicken nuggets and chips through the drive thru on Friday evening, 20th February. Still very unwell 2 days later.

02/11/2025: OMG what an BAD experience. The food is of a very poor standard indeed. It seems to be pre cooked and lined up to heat in microwave as ordered. We stopped in on a Sunday morning for breakfast which we were told has finished…Disappointed we decided to look at alternative options. We ordered soup and a coffee and scone. The soup came lukewarm and with one mean slice of brown bread which was cut so thinly it fell apart when lifted off the plate. And the coffee which was cold. So we cancelled the second part of our order. As we approached the till to pay before leaving, we could hear shouting in an angry tone. At first we didn’t realise it was being directed at us. And then we realised it was the cook in the kitchen shouting and hurling insults and abuse at us from the kitchen because we had cancelled the second part of our order! We were shocked and appalled by her behaviour and bad manners in front of staff and other customers. What a bad ambassador for any business. I can’t imagine what it must be like to work in an environment like this. The young ladies serving are extremely pleasant and doing their best but I would think it’s not a very pleasant work environment. Only for the fact that there’s nowhere else around for miles I expect this place would be closed long ago….The worst experience I’ve ever had when eating out…the place is cold, the decor desperate …pallets on the ceiling for light holders and cheap timber furnishings…..avoid avoid avoid. The reviews online definitely don’t reflect our experience perhaps it’s the reviews from associates of the cook ???

09/11/2025: The best cafe in Dun Laoghaire and the fact that it is always busy is testament to this. Very good coffee and a wide selection of breakfast/brunch/lunch dishes to suit all diets.

10/10/2025: Great cafe and deli. We drop in whenever we can. Good coffee and cakes. Tasty toasted sandwiches. Lovely location. Friendly staff. Great selection of wine, cheeses, honey and chocolates for sale among other things. Highly recommend.

13/01/2026: Popped in today for some lunch with my 4 yr old son. Greeted straight away by Geraldine, so friendly and immediately she gave my son crayons and his menu had pictures to colour, this was a big hit!!! Food was delicious, really fresh, quick and just what we wanted. All staff were so friendly and it had a cosy atmosphere. The bathrooms are exceptional. Beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and really gorgeous soaps and hand creams. Small touches but they made a big difference. We will definitely be back soon.

24/08/2025: Popped in for breakfast. Mini breakfast was grand although a euro or two more expensive then other places. Staff are nice.

20/08/2025: I have to say this was my favorite little spot I spent 2 days in Waterford and this little gem was right across the way from me I'm coliac and get left out from their amazing menu I can't tell you how rare it is for me to enter an establishment and dine like everyone else in the place thank you so much the food was amazing the atmosphere was class and the staff were too notch helpful not only accommodating to 2 moody pre teens but 3 tired adults even helped us with bus time tables I highly and whole heartedly recommend this place and can not wait to make a return for some delisous food.

15/02/2025: I cannot express how disappointed I am with my experience at Elephant and Castle. What was supposed to be a romantic Valentine's Day dinner turned into an absolute nightmare. From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us with hostility, setting the tone for the rest of the evening. When I mentioned I wasn’t sure what to order yet, the server rolled their eyes at me—an incredibly rude and unprofessional gesture. They then barked, “What ye want?” in a tone that made me feel like an inconvenience rather than a guest. This was not the warm, welcoming atmosphere I expected, especially on a special occasion like Valentine’s Day. The service only got worse from there. We were completely ignored throughout our meal, making it impossible to order more drinks or even get the attention of the staff when we needed something. To make matters worse, I witnessed something utterly appalling: a staff member took drinks off a table after the customers said they weren’t the right ones, and then proceeded to serve those same drinks to another table. I was horrified to see the couple at that table take a sip, completely unaware of what had just happened. This level of unhygienic and unethical behavior is unacceptable. This rudeness was experienced by many as I spoke to fellow guests who also complained and felt the same way The entire experience was embarrassing and frustrating. I would never recommend Elephant and Castle to anyone, especially not for a special occasion. Save yourself the disappointment and dine elsewhere. This place is a complete letdown

29/08/2025: Good pizza, but not amazing and very small. €22 for a pepperoni and €2 for a garlic mayo at Electric Picnic. I’m sure there are overheads to pay for the rental spot costs, but insane money for the size and quality! A hard time to be a small business!

26/05/2025: We came to the restaurant to have a meal. They offered us a table in what seemed to be their office — there were papers everywhere and the place was dirty. The sushi we were served was sticking to the plate, and apparently they had run out of chopsticks, so we had to eat with forks. Everything was falling apart and looked more like mush than sushi. I do not recommend this place to anyone. It will ruin your mood.

19/12/2025: Changed my original review because service has gone downhill rapidly for delivery orders. Ordered delivery tonight and most of the items missing from the order, tiny amount of beef, no guac, no sour cream, no chips, tiny amount of rice too. They used to be great, but wouldn’t recommend this anymore. Made a complaint about the order and was basically told “sorry, can’t do anything”
