The restaurant's central location makes it convenient, and its beautiful decorations create a joyful atmosphere. The seating was comfortable and well-arranged, and the place was spotlessly clean. The food was of good quality, with a wide variety of delicious dishes to choose from. The portions were generous, satisfying everyone's appetite. The prices were reasonable, making it an accessible choice for our celebration. We highly recommend this place for any special occasion or to enjoy a pleasant meal.

19/05/2025: Had heard good things about this place so we decided to try it. We arrived at 11:45 and a lady said that we'd missed breakfast but could order dinner at 12 which was fine. We sat down and she handed us some menus. After about 15 minutes a different lady came over and barked "you've the wrong menus" she took the menus and walked off. She came back a few moments later with a different but basically identical menu. She went away and another girl (young and friendly) took our order and was friendly. As we were sitting by the door we had an opportunity to see every customer who was coming in. Pretty much every customer was treated like an inconvenience by the first lady we met. She was saying things like: "How many? 4 is it? Well you'll have to wait 25 minutes as there's as least 20 ahead" or "We're very busy. There's a load of people ahead of you". Nobody received a friendly greeting which is a pity as everyone was out for Sunday lunch. Many were elderly or had young children. The lady could have said something like: " Hi folks, lovely day out isn't it? Are you enjoying the sun? I'm afraid there's a few ahead of you but I'm happy to offer you a drink while you wait" An elderly man came in with a child. Before he even said anything the woman barked: "we've no tables" He asked if he could get a take away and she said yes in about 30 minutes. He asked what he could order and she simply pointed to the specials board and didn't even offer him a menu. Food was OK, not bad just ok. We felt like we were in the way the entire time. Wouldn't return. Basis customer service training is needed.

22/08/2025: Doesn’t deserve custom from any self respecting person. My sister who tragically has MND was refused service and asked to leave due to her speech difficulties being assessed by owner and staff as slurring due to intoxication. The interaction was embarrassing and distressing. No one offered a calm, private assessment in fact when the staff member was told by my sister that she was ill and this was how her speech now was she was told -“no you’re full” Disgusting and discriminatory behaviour. The publican and the staff member in question should be ashamed of themselves. The incident occurred over 12 months ago and in that time my sister has lost her ability to speak and her condition is well known in our town and yet no apology has been forthcoming.

05/01/2026: NOT GOING BACK My local bike shop in Cabinteely was super busy just before Christmas and couldn't fix some broken spokes on my rear wheel until early January so I brought it to The Cycle Hub as I didn't want to be without a bike for two weeks. My bike has a belt drive with an internal gear hub. Spokes were fixed okay but when I cycled away, the drive slipped badly when I went up any hill. Brought it back immediately to the shop and after they had checked the bike, the mechanic - tall guy with a tache - told that there was a problem with the internal gear hub. When I questioned this, I was told that that it was just a coincidence that this problem emerged at the same time as when they were repairing the spokes! It had nothing to do with the repairs they'd just done! He was absolutely insistent that this was coincidental and, and he told me that he could hear a problem in the internal hub. He couldn't give me a price for a necessary repair - he would need to take the hub apart to see the problem - but would give me a discount on the cost! At this point, I had lost faith in what I was being told and decided that any necessary repairs would be entrusted to my local bike shop. I told him that I wasn't leaving the bike with them and they then remounted the wheel. I was resigned to pushing the bike up any hills to get it home. BUT on my way home the second time, there was no slippage of the drive at all! And since then, I've cycled over 150km without any issue. So what's going on? My conclusion is that they just hadn't remounted the wheel properly after repairing the spokes and that was why the belt drive was slipping but that they got it right the second time. If I had taken them at their word, they would have engaged in unnecessary 'repairs' and I expect they would have charged me for that. The kindest explanation of the whole episode is that they don't know what they're doing.

01/08/2025: Great. Got a full service and new tyre in very quick time. Prices in shop for small accessories cheaper than Amazon in my experience.

28/12/2025: The atmosphere and service on the day we visited H&L was extremely poor. We were seated by a waitress named "Cherlene" and her demeanour on the day was what tainted our experience. Her attitude was of that of someone who didnt want to be there, and had no interest in serving customers. The cakes we ordered also on the day were old and dry.

17/12/2025: Great place for breakfast lunch or dinner! Really fresh food.

19/01/2026: Mix and chicken kebab from Max Takeaway is unreal — massive portion, loads of flavour, and perfectly cooked meat fresh salad and plenty of sauce. The staff were really friendly and welcoming too. Great value for the size, Me and my girlfriend order one or two every week xD can't go wrong

01/02/2026: I went yesterday with friends to this place, and I really regretted it. First, each person—even non-shisha smokers—must pay €10, which does not include a drink or food- for nothing. On top of that, you still have to stay only 1.5 hour, and you must pay at least €22 more if you want to stay longer. When we ordered shisha, it took almost 30 minutes to be prepared, and it didn’t taste very good. Hot drinks took nearly 40 minutes to arrive, and there was only one friendly, poor waitress working. It wasn’t a great experience.

01/02/2026: Visited this place for the first time and absolutely loved it! The atmosphere is amazing—warm, welcoming, and full of good energy. The service was excellent, and to top it off, the owner himself is incredibly polite and gentle. Definitely a spot I’d love to visit again!

16/02/2026: Staff are very helpful and friendly and the food is great

12/02/2026: Ordered online, to pay with cash. Spent 15mins trying to pay in the place as their payment system wouldn't work. Offered to go to an ATM etc, to no avail. Gave up and walked out. Complete night and day compared to the one in Douglas.

12/11/2025: Take away pizza ,lovely base ,excellent pizza and the garlic bread is gorgeous
