21/01/2026: We only discovered Kumar's in the last year, but soon regarded it as one of the best restaurants in town. Every meal until recently was very authentic and tasty. However, the last meals we had this year were not good at all. The starter seemed like it had been reheated or refried, and the curries were bland and very over-salted. And this is coming from someone who likes their salt! Worse still, both curries had long strips of raw ginger in them. Maybe this was meant as a kind of dressing or topping, but it's the first we've ever come across it. Raw ginger is a bit like raw garlic - it's quite pungent and very distracting in a curry. I'm guessing the ginger might be added to provide a burst of flavour in a curry, but it needs to have some bit of cooking or heating so that it isn't overpowering. I would make a confident bet that the chef in question was filling in for the regular chef, who has probably returned home for a holiday for a month or so over the Christmas/new year period. That's fair enough, but any replacement chef should be capable of seasoning dishes appropriately and perhaps holding back on the root ginger! The experience has meant that we will probably never eat at Kumar's again.

05/01/2026: Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish. Food quality was shockingly poor. The samosas tasted like they were made with frozen, stale meat and had a strong unpleasant smell. Biryani was one of the worst I have ever had.. it was dry, no flavor and completely inedible. We couldn’t even eat a few bites. chicken dishes were equally bad with meat that clearly wasn’t fresh. On top of the terrible food, the service made it worse. The staff were rude, dismissive, and showed no interest in customer feedback. It felt like a complete waste of money and our day spoiled. For anyone in Galway, especially Irish/European visitors, this is not authentic Indian food by any standard. Please avoid this place.

21/12/2025: Fabulous place in Cork. Our waiter could not have been nicer, the food was delicious & the restaurant was beautiful. It’s a hidden gem & we will definitely be back!!!

23/11/2025: I had a very disappointing experience at Sultan Café in Cork. The staff member who served us was rude and arrogant throughout our visit, and his behaviour felt unwelcoming and borderline discriminatory. Definitely not the kind of treatment any customer deserves. Thanks for the response — it actually proves my point better than my review ever could. Telling customers ‘do not come back again’ is shocking behaviour for a café operating in Ireland, where basic hospitality and respect are expected. Instead of addressing the issue, you doubled down with arrogance and blame. If this is how you treat people publicly, I can only imagine how you behave in person. I hope future customers see this attitude and think twice before visiting.”

05/03/2026: Spent the night throwing up the lobster and fish soup, was ill for days, avoid this place, spent £150 to be as sick as a dog !!!!!!!!!

14/02/2026: Wouldn’t be rushing back here came here for a valentines meal booked weeks in advance when we arrived we were informed that the menu was set at €60pp extra €6 for sides on top. Do they really expect people to get a steak with no side ? Not to mention the set menu wasn’t great there were no starters we liked the waitress was nice and informed us that we would still be paying the €60 regardless they made a compromise and gave us garlic bread instead. Steaks were small my boyfriends was very small and all fat ! Desserts came and they were only middling. Waitresses were nice this is more of a management problem. Plenty of people left while we were there and plenty complaining they were not informed of the set menu.

26/12/2025: Arrrrgh god this is a good place. Great great value for money. Big fillings, great kick to the blackened chicken. They aren’t afraid.. great quick efficient service like a factory line. Seating can get packed so be prepared to get a takeaway. Didn’t have to wait 35+ minutes unlike some places.. great place all round. Great value for money. Better bowls than boojum and way healthier. Keep up the great work. PS. BYOS (bring your own spoons) other than that sweet as

19/12/2025: I had the Middle Eastern wrap it was amazing. My wife had the taco bowl and it was equally as nice. Recommended. Nice to have a place like this in Kildare.

15/02/2026: I’m only in Kildare 6 years and have tried every chipper from newbridge to portarlington. I always come back to Macari’s Kildare town (both) The staff are so nice and the food is always soooo nice. I will continue to be a loyal customer of these guys

22/08/2025: We stayed here for one night and got dinner for the 5 of us. Why so much artificial stuff? We eat with our hands and even soap would not take the color off our hands. We expected the honey sauce to be sweet but the peking sauce was sweet too. At the end of the meal we felt like our tongue was coated in sugar and we ate a bunch of artificial colors.

17/08/2025: I've been there and ordered delivery several times because I love the food. I love the fried rice, chow mein and chicken curry. It's true that it seems a bit expensive to me, as in Spain (where I'm from) the dishes are half the price, but I understand that everything is a bit more expensive here, so I guess it's ok

18/02/2026: I really like the charcoal grilled chicken but unfortunately multiple times the chicken wasn’t cooked correctly. Also one time came only breast not the half charcoal grilled chicken that I ordered.

31/12/2025: Worst staff in the history of existence. They are horrible and rude and literally avoid you. I went up to the counter to ask for a small cup of tap water (which they are obligated to give me, a customer that had paid for a sandwich and a treat) and both women working at the counter just pretended not to see me while they carried out other tasks and chatted to one another. I literally made eye contact with each of them and would open my mouth to speak as they walked towards me, but they would immediately blank me. Seriously, where are we hiring these people from? The depths of hell? Also the Italian flatbread sandwich is proper minging. My sister started crying because it was so bad, and it also cost her a whopping 7 quid. The ratio of filling to flatbread was ridiculous and purely inappropriate. I’d rather eat a mop and I’d say the flatbread would have had even better soakage than a mop, so maybe I should have swapped it out. The Christmas sandwich I got was okay, but I have no idea why they excluded cranberry sauce. Walk yourself an extra 8 minutes down to literally ANYWHERE ELSE. If sub-par food and sub-par staff is your thing though, I certainly know a place

13/01/2026: Food standards have really gone down we went for a sunday dinner and it was a big let down compared to meals we have had there many times before.

05/01/2026: Hotel is very well located in centre of the town. Refurb downstairs looks good, but some carpets/fittings upstairs were a little old & looked unloved. Food was good, and a few options to choose at the carvery. Breakfast was good, and plenty of it. Staff were efficient & accommodating. We will be back.

03/12/2025: First time ordering from Sunshine Palace and I will definitely be ordering again. The staff are a delight to deal with. I have been eating Chinese food since 1979. I ordered two different dishes and a side. Everything was perfect. Quality and quantity. Absolutely delicious!10/10
