The best restaurants

22/09/2026: 35 cent for a disposable wooden spoon… just greedy isn’t it? Meanwhile they’re completely free and accessible along with other cutlery at the restaurant right across on campus.

20/06/2026: College cafe - it was busy when we dropped in, great place for a coffee & sat outside & watched the world go by....

27/07/2026: Generous portions (including on the children's menu) and very good service. The quality of the food varied; average to good, but nothing more. We only ate pub-style food (nachos, pizza, burgers, salads, etc.), so perhaps the more "sophisticated" dishes were better. One of the dishes we ordered was far too salty (Buffalo chicken wings). We didn't finish it, but we mentioned it to the (very kind) waitress, who immediately informed the chef, and they didn't charge us for it. Ultimately, it's a shame because we received excellent customer service, but we won't be returning due to the poor quality of the food.

20/07/2026: The worst food ever. The wait is incredibly long.

15/06/2026: Ordered a Veggie Burger which was so oily i couldn’t finish it, & not even a slice of tomato with the lettuce. The worst veggie burger i’ve seen. Overcooked chips. The bottled water was very good. Avoid.

13/06/2026: Horrible..... twice we told them that we do not want bacon added to our burgers. But even though we said it so many times they still added bacon to our food.

04/07/2026: Stale bread , no fillings , off lettuce. Absolutely vile. Learned my lesson will not be back.

24/06/2026: Went in at 12 o clock on a wednesday and got a footlong sub. €11.60 for completely stale bread and gone off lettuce and onions. Got home to eat and the whole lot went in the bin after one bite. Price is gone mental and its gone downhill bigtime over the years. Horrible place, never again

02/10/2026: Service here is horrible! Just spent 15 min looking at a lady make a wrong order to then dump it and only start again, all this while’s I’m standing there like a dope. Drive to another franchise cause this one’s hopeless.

18/08/2026: Get subway a good bit around ireland with work, this one is in bottom 3 if not the worst. Wish I read the reviews before going in

17/07/2026: They haven't have anything left the last 3 time I've been there. Last Saturday at like 1. They just said we aren't open today but had 2 staff.

02/06/2026: €8.30 for a ft long with just bacon. Didn’t ask for extra bacon but got charged €1.45 for the privilege of bacon on my roll.

03/08/2026: We visited before a show in the Bord Gais, the food was awful. I left most of mine behind, 3 out of 4 meals were very underwhelming. We didn't have time to send back to kitchen as show was on. Nearly €20 for a sandwich was scandalous. I went up to pay at the till and just mention the food was not nice at all, I didn't want to make a scene as other diners nearby. The server apologised and said he would mention to manager. She came over and was very rude. She wanted to know did staff check how much food was left behind on the plate to determine how much food we ate. I told her I left over half of mine and I just wanted to let them know the food was horrendous. I wasn't looking for anything just wanted to inform them. She was very rude and didnt apologise. She gave us 10% off the bill through gritted teeth. Wouldn't recommend eating here!

26/06/2026: Bland corporate Hilton wannabe (which is not, in and of itself, a compliment to Hilton). A tough day at work demanded late room service. >€30 for what I can only assume was a supermarket pizza, which took an hour to deliver vs. a 20 minute confirmation,and had half the ingredients missing. The ‘manager’ then tried to argue that I was wrong, which has prompted this furious review. Awful professionalism all round, dismal service, in a hotel which, despite refurbishment, struggles to justify any of its four stars. Never again.

02/06/2026: Ingredients were not fresh at all. Could see the lettuce had started browning, rice was hard at points and the refried beans must have been refried in 2008

16/05/2026: Very bland burrito and questionable food hygiene.

10/09/2026: says it’s temporarily closed but i don’t know man i got through the back window easily enough.

09/09/2026: Not organised at all. The store is closed ,for renovations I assume, but they are still accepting orders for delivery.

15/09/2026: Was here today and must say I was very disappointed with it. There was two of us got pancakes with fruit . On each pancake there was 3 blueberries and then 1 strawberry at most cut up between the 3 pancakes and to make it worse they were cold. Should have handed them back but it was busy and didn't want to make a fuss. But will not be going back at €7.50 for 3 small pancakes you would expect BETTER 😔

16/08/2026: Oh how i wish I had read the reviews prior to our visit. Warm drink from the fridge and was told they CAN'T give me ice. I replied, you mean you WON'T give me ice because clearly they make iced drinks. They told me the ice is only for the iced drinks. I have never in my life had as poor service as I had today. Felt like I was on a hidden camera show. We spent a good deal of money here. Obviously customer satisfaction is way way down on their list.

09/09/2026: Frozen chips, frozen tiny piece of fish swimming in grease . Fish was like a piece of fish you would get from a supermarket . Powdered curry sauce literally like water all I can say is absolutely horrendous food spent 12 euro and threw it straight in the bin.

03/09/2026: Dump, makes her prices up as she goes along an i dont mean you get undercharged overcharged every time 30euro order came to 70 euro because my girlfriend collected it and waited over 1.5 hours one night for my food and it never came called back the next day and she said sorry can give mr a free can of drink next time I order

16/08/2026: Got a price on a curry 30 euro for chips beef curry half portion of chicken balls and a egg fried rice tryed charging me a tenner delivery 😂 place is gone a Kip

09/04/2026: The lunch time workers here are so clearly miserable it is insane. Feel like I am constantly walking on thin ice around them (especially the manager) it is consistently bad to the point where i dread interacting with them. The guys working on weekends and during dinner time are chill though. Emphasis on the great weekend workers!

14/03/2026: **UPDATE: They've now graciously allowed water along with dinner (which should have been the standard from the start..) Keep writing the truth in the reviews because the staff and RUDE manager Camila do read them :-)*** Where do I start. 1. Food quality: Get yourself an air fryer instead, the food quality and quantity is NOT worth it, TRUST ME, I've been here 2 shitty years - they'll either close early, sell out their food to other people that are NON-residents ie. they do NOT care that you've prepaid, trust. 2. Legality: They used to have seconds, it was in the Roebuck Castle terms and conditions, but they decided to change that even though fine print on the UCD website before said otherwise. One semester it's soups or dessert will be included with meals, and water definitely included for dinner, and the next semester no soups and no water :) Don't waste your money 3. RUDE MANAGER making service DELIBERATELY DIFFICULT by being so, unnecessarily, passive aggressive and so incredibly PETTY, towards students trying to order their lunch. Basic service training is ASKING PEOPLE WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE ON THEIR SANDWICH and not EXPECTING THEM to know what ingredients YOU have in stock and then being unduly exasperated at them when they try to tell you their order. Why are you in this line of service face-to-face with people if you clearly think we're all idiots? What kind of power trip do you have losing your mind over asking for an extra spoonful of sauce? 4. The weekend people here are the best. Shoutout Jogesh! I hope they get paid extra because they legitimately carry this place; they are nice, polite, thorough, patient. Best customer service I've ever had at Roebuck was with the weekend boys that work here now.
