24/08/2025: That's not a main portion of calamari rings, no matter how you put it. Extra point for a staff member rectifying this by selling this tiny snack as a starter (that's why 5 stars for service, too).

14/12/2025: Lovely setting and great staff. Food was mediocre, fries way too greasy and the burger was cremated with an odd smoky flavour. Wings were amazing though.

11/01/2026: Stayed on a Friday night in January. Staff were fantastic. Room was lovely facing on to the water. Pool was well maintained and perfect for our infant daughter.

30/12/2025: It was a beautiful view, the dinner and breakfast was lovely, although if you get a family room, the singular bed in the corner isn't that great, it is more uncomfortable, but the other beds are absolutely fine. The family room has a refrigerator, and complementary biscuits, aswell as a coffee maker, which is lovely. It is very peaceful in the red castle hotel, and the pool was amazing. It is a very large building and even has 4 floors (I think) but it was by far, the best hotel in Donegal I've been to.

19/08/2025: Everything was perfect. The typical evening meal was excellent. The breakfast was perfect and plentiful. Go for it, you won't be disappointed.

29/07/2025: Cong is a superb location, Ryans have friendly staff. I had lasagne on this day, and it was ok.

16/11/2025: A very comfortable hotel - slept really well both nights! It is in a great location for exploring many beautiful places in Donegal. Breakfast was fine - a small selection of cereal, fruit, juice, yogurt and then the usual cooked breakfast of fry, scrambled egg etc to order. The receptionists were very friendly. A few other reviews mentioned the road and our room was on the roadside but I can't say that I heard much traffic, its in a rural location so even on a weekend night there wasn't much going on so it wasn't noisy at all. I would stay here again; the only negative comment I have to make is they could do with cleaning their windows both inside and out!

19/10/2025: Wonderfully comfortable hotel in county Donegal in Ireland. Friendly staff and reasonable rates. I took this hotel as I had a flight from Donegal Airport and there was a bus stop just outside the hotel to the airport. Bed is very plush and soft and the hotel is clean and good service. Breakfast is included as well.

23/07/2025: I got Lunch Sandwich Special here yesterday for a small party in my house Sndwiches, wraps & rolls...different variety of each...all very fresh tasty...and all enjoyed by my guests!!!Most asked where I got them and had no problem passing on details... Would highly recommend

09/07/2025: Staff are always lovely, food and coffee are great and very reasonably priced in comparison to other establishments in the Blackrock area. Really good selection of sandwiches, almost too good though, hard to make up your mind 🤣

11/11/2025: Great service from Punam today..Supermacs Tues 5pm. Pleasant, friendly, courteous and efficient. She does a great job. Remembered my order exactly ..as a pretty regular customer I appreciate this. Place is clean, quiet and well run with plenty of free parking. I hope Punam gets recognised for her good customer service and efficiency.

02/11/2025: OMG what an BAD experience. The food is of a very poor standard indeed. It seems to be pre cooked and lined up to heat in microwave as ordered. We stopped in on a Sunday morning for breakfast which we were told has finished…Disappointed we decided to look at alternative options. We ordered soup and a coffee and scone. The soup came lukewarm and with one mean slice of brown bread which was cut so thinly it fell apart when lifted off the plate. And the coffee which was cold. So we cancelled the second part of our order. As we approached the till to pay before leaving, we could hear shouting in an angry tone. At first we didn’t realise it was being directed at us. And then we realised it was the cook in the kitchen shouting and hurling insults and abuse at us from the kitchen because we had cancelled the second part of our order! We were shocked and appalled by her behaviour and bad manners in front of staff and other customers. What a bad ambassador for any business. I can’t imagine what it must be like to work in an environment like this. The young ladies serving are extremely pleasant and doing their best but I would think it’s not a very pleasant work environment. Only for the fact that there’s nowhere else around for miles I expect this place would be closed long ago….The worst experience I’ve ever had when eating out…the place is cold, the decor desperate …pallets on the ceiling for light holders and cheap timber furnishings…..avoid avoid avoid. The reviews online definitely don’t reflect our experience perhaps it’s the reviews from associates of the cook ???

28/10/2025: Nice place good food and good service

12/12/2025: Good quality fish and chips, as well as some pizza options, such as vegetarian and pepperoni. The place is quite expensive, €20 for fish and chips, which is understandable considering the cost of living there, but not for the portion size. The staff's service could be much better, and at times they were overly attentive when entering the PIN on the card reader (suspiciously, the contactless wasn't working). They're the kind of fixed kiosks you can't touch to protect your PIN. We didn't like what happened. Nor did we appreciate waiting over 30 minutes to be served. It's located away from the main pedestrian area, so the atmosphere in this area is less touristy, and you can find "all sorts" of places. Not recommended unless you go during the day, pay in cash, and order takeaway.

14/12/2025: We had an amazing birthday meal here. The food and service was 10/10. I would highly recommend the duck and the Tiramisú! The manager Peter made us feel so welcome.

06/10/2025: After this wonderful place was recommended by several locals we decided to try it at last. Blue Serenade did not disappoint. The food was exceptional lovely flavours fresh and wholesome. Wonderful presentation. Great value for money. Easy parking. Peter who looked after us was so chatty helpful attentive as provided exceptional service. This place has exceptional reviews has a great reputation in the town for its service great food and ambience. Peter the owner treats everyone who comes through the door in a lovely courteous genuine and professional manner. A wonderful hidden gem in Castlebar.
