27/03/2026: We went to the Gateway today for a family birthday. The sevice was slow but food was reasonable even though vegetables arrived when meal was nearly eaten. The main problem was with the service and attitude of staff. We asked for a jug of water before meal and asked two different girls on four different occasions without water arriving. When it did arrive the jug and glasses were slammed on table. We will not be back

09/05/2026: Elegant hotel. Fancy. Best customer service thus far in Ireland! (Front desk and breakfast staff excellent!) Tons of shops, restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance. Killarney is a very cute city. It has an "energy" vibe to it. Minus 1 star for lack of available USB ports. In addition, the shower had poor temperature control. No cold water, believe it or not. The bath had cold water, yet when you switched the control to the shower mode, only three temperatures available: hot, hotter, and scolding, no matter how you adjusted the knob(s). {Only in room 119?...} Also, no hooks or towel bar to hang towels, etc. in the bathroom. The WiFi was ok to stream, however, trying to send an image via text failed time and again. Besides that, I highly recommend this hotel. A Celtic and Riverdance show most nights at 8:30 pm on the ground level. $37€ ? Free parking under the hotel, however, very limited spaces on a first-come, first-served basis. P.S. My opinion only: The Ring of Kerry was underwhelming. I guess I'm spoiled living in California with the coastal highway, the Sierra Nevada mountains, Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park. However, since you're here, you might as well drive it. Still lovely. I suggest driving it Clockwise. The tour busses drive Counterclockwise, and you do not want to follow them and all their customers at every viewpoint. For every one car traveling clockwise, there were 30 to 40 cars traveling counterclockwise. Now you know!

06/09/2026: Just a quick pit stop for a beer and some light refreshments - crisp's and soft drinks for the kids. Service was excellent - top notch - polite and friendly. Tried a Irish lager - Ri Ra - was fine.

05/09/2026: If you are passing by Newtownmountkennedy, The Mount Kennedy Inn is a must visit. The pub serves delicious food and has a great selection of beer taps. The staff are wonderful, very nice and helpful. It has a summer terrace and plenty of place to sit in for any group size. It has a very cozy atmosphere too. Really lovely place.

23/05/2026: 5 stars for Mr. Bumbles in Clonmel! We stopped in for lunch and were blown away by the experience. Not only was the service and staff excellent, but the price was a total bargain for a full meal, starters, and soft drinks. Such a lovely spot we left very happy and will definitely be back if ever visit the area or surrounding! Thanks for receiving us :)
