The best restaurants

26/10/2025: I never got to go in, but locals will rant and rave about this place. We rang the doorbell and were greeted by an amazing woman. Sadly they had no more room left, but she was the sweetest person. Hopefully we can visit again soon, and have an amazing pint (which every waitress and waiter told us is the best place to have one)

01/12/2025: Amazing quality food, best in Drogheda in my opinion. The chips are so fluffy and not super greasy. I recently had to change go-to chippers due to drop in quality and it is a delight to find Macari's, the beef doesnt take like fish, its friendly on the tummy, and quality is kept in mind. Lighting speed delivery as well! Cant go wrong with a good awl Macari's ;)

28/01/2026: Ivan’s is a fantastic local bar with a great vibe. Kaija was an amazing bartender super friendly, easy to talk to, and made the whole experience even better. We talked about everything and felt right at home. Highly recommend Ivan’s for good drinks and great conversations.

15/09/2025: Had the food emporium do home catering for us for a family party and couldn't fault them, great to deal with and very friendly, food was absolutely amazing and got nothing but compliments from everyone at the party. Delivered on time with complimentary dessert thrown in. Highly recommend for quality, value and excellent service. 5star

01/01/2026: Sarsfield's? More like Stinkfield's. Absolutely shocking venue for New Year's Eve. The most excitement I got all night was a tumbleweed blowing through the bar. The staff decided to all clock off at 9:30pm so they could get their power naps in. As soon as they stopped serving, everyone cleared out of the pub as if there was a stinkbomb that was set off. Only positive was the freshly cut pineapple that was being sold at the food stall. Should've gone to McHugh's.

09/09/2025: The food is good and healthy, BUT EVERYTHING IS DISPOSABLE! The plates, the cutlery, the glasses… where's the sustainability? The amount of packaging that could be saved every day.

28/12/2025: Artisan bakery, the decor is lovely and the service is fast. The cookies were delicious.

24/09/2025: I've been staying a number of days at a hotel near Hansel and Gretel, and have found this great little bakery and coffee shop a convenient stop as I'm walking to various tourist sites. The pastries are freshly baked and very good, and the coffee (which may be supplied by a coffee shop chain called Ariosa) is very good. Unlike other nearby coffee shops, Hansel and Gretel has no seating either inside or outside. But if a takeaway cup of coffee and a pastry is your thing, this is a great choice.

11/03/2026: An incredibly disappointing stay. Having previously had positive experiences at House Dublin, I booked a two-night stay for my husband and myself. Upon arrival, we were informed that the entire communal space was off limits due to a private booking. My husband is unwell and we had planned a relaxing break in a space we knew and enjoyed. Instead, we found ourselves walking the rainy streets of Dublin looking for somewhere to spend the evening. We were also allocated Room 15, which is without question the worst room I have ever stayed in at House Dublin. The lighting is very poor, the room is extremely small, and the bathroom is completely impractical. The shower in particular is so tiny that I struggled to use it comfortably. As we were unable to avail of our welcome drink on the night of arrival due to the private event, we went down on our second night - only to be told there was another private event. We were “allowed” to have our drink but advised we would need to be finished by 6:30pm. Throughout our stay there was zero consideration shown to us as hotel guests, and absolutely no sense of hospitality. As I write this at 10:40pm, with The Prodigy’s Firestarter blaring in the background from the private event below, I have made the decision that I will never return to what was once a much-loved Dublin stay.

12/12/2025: Been going here for years for the chilli chips and can easily say it’s Michelin star worthy. However, I recently saw the business up for sale and noticed there are new staff. We recently got the chilli chips twice and it just wasn’t the same. I was so sad because it was such a good thing for so long. The mince wasn’t the same flavour and it tasted like it needed cooking for longer. I really hope they can achieve it the same way as it was as it truly was something spectacular!!!

02/03/2026: Just want to update this review from 4 years ago. We still come here at least once a week and it’s our local chipper even though we live 25 minutes away. It is still the best chipper around and there’s not even a close 2nd to it. I highly recommend this place to everyone. The food has always been top class and the service from all the staff is top notch. Hands down the best chipper there is. Been going to Sorrento’s for 2 years now there chips burgers battered sausages and kebabs are the nicest you can get. Can’t fault any food I’ve gotten from here and the staff are always welcoming. Fair play Sorrento’s 👍🏻

24/12/2025: Awesome tacos and great drinks at Black Dog Tacos! One of the few places in town where you can get really good quality tacos — fresh, flavorful, and packed with tasty ingredients. The drinks are just as good, with a nice selection that goes perfectly with the food. The vibe is fun and relaxed, and the staff are welcoming. Definitely a go-to spot if you’re craving tacos and a great drink in Cork! 🌮🍹
