The best restaurants

18/02/2026: I would say this one is best🤞, not much waiting at all for food after ordering. Got hot and tasty Burger 🍔 in a couple of minutes. Special appreciation to your kitchen staff and front counter staff. Love to comeback and had a meal again😀

14/02/2026: Out of all the Burger King stores I’ve visited in Ireland, this one had the fastest service — my order was ready before I finished filling my drink😄

14/12/2025: Our party of four thoroughly enjoyed dinner at this restaurant which is located in a village about two miles south of Naas, Co Kildare. There is plenty of free parking. The food was excellent, as was the service. The place was packed on the Friday before Christmas.

26/09/2025: Bertie’s Bar was our favorite pub!!! Thank you for such an amazing time. Great people, lots of beer on tap, and fun beer pouring lesson! We came in for a beer and left with an experience we will never forget. Thank you for the memories. 🍻🍀🫶🏼

25/01/2026: Went here a few months ago for lunch, nobody in the place and she said take a seat and I'll be with you. I sat down, I was told that seat was taken and I had to move. There was nobody in the place...nor did anyone come after I moved. ... came back a second time and there's no hours of opening outside or on Google so I waited outside until I caught the chef outside telling 11am open for food. Waiting until 11:15 and still no doors open. So I left and won't be back.

24/02/2026: My husband and I had such delicious seafood chowder five days ago and with the most wonderful waitress (I don’t remember her name, but she had short grey hair). I was planning on giving a 5 star review, but with touring Ireland, didn’t get back to it. We decided to come back to adorable Athlone for one last time and knew exactly where to go for a great meal and service. What a DISAPPOINTMENT today!!!! We were greeted by our waitress (mid length brown hair) with a dismissive wave toward the dining area and “take a seat anywhere “. After a while she finally came to us(we were the only ones there!) and asked for our order. Not what the standard…what drinks/appetizers would you like, nothing…just what do you want. The entire time she never returned to ask if we wanted anything else or how was our lunch. We had to go to another table to get more water! It is such a shame one waitress could ruin such a nice lunch. Hopefully, if you go, you will get the nice grey haired lady, or frankly, anyone else except this waitress. Whoever the owner is, you really need to reconsider this. From a 5 star five days earlier, to a 2 star today, and I’m being generous!!!!

14/02/2026: Stopped in Athlone to break a journey. Never so happy to have stopped. Amazing food, incredible choices. Option of dealcoholised wines.. a truly great find. Took a meal away for a person that could not be with us. Reheated to perfection...so would also be a great dine at home special dinner if needed. Will plan our trip around stopping here again.

19/11/2025: Back again!! I was here ages ago and thought it was great and couldn't get much better, but I was wrong. Loads more upgrades, new little cafe area for a cuppa and cake while you watch the kids in the soft play and take a min to yourself. We had a great time again, my 84 yr old father came for the drive with us and he sat watching us on the TV when we played the lazer tag he was amazed!! We were so well looked after love roller skating with the kids its so much fun, kids also played indoor soccer to end off a very busy day, we were there for hours. Also for anyone that thinks them arcade games never pay out ... well my 8 year old is living proof, he hit the €150 prize, the manager/owner came out personally to hand over the cash. He was a great sport and so good with my son. Keep up the good work all the staff are a credit to the place. See you all again soon.

22/03/2026: This place was recommended to us by chat gpt as great local Irish food. Their website looks attractive with modern balanced dishes. We had a lunch there on Sunday, very limited menu with mostly unhealthy options. Little vegetables, I asked for a plane leaf salad with tomatoes for kids which they didn’t have and couldn’t make… white sweetened buns for burgers with fries, and vegetable nachos for me. I couldn’t eat nachos as they were all stocked together. Attaching the picture. Not coming back for sure

22/03/2026: We had a great time at The Woollen Mill and overall it was a really enjoyable experience. The food was excellent, everything we ordered was very tasty and well prepared, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. The staff were friendly and the whole place had a really nice buzz about it. The only downside was that the table we were sitting at wasn’t very comfortable. Also, we wouldn’t really recommend sitting outside unless the weather is unusually good! Ireland is just too cold most of the time to properly enjoy outdoor seating. Also would expect Guinness to be served. But overall, we had a great experience, really enjoyed the food, and would definitely come back.

26/02/2026: Honestly. We walked in. Lots of staff behind the counter. All looked terrified. One looked at us and looked away like we might bite. We just wanted a table for two. After a few minutes a girl came to seat us. She was friendly. We got a table and a water jug. I wish I'd taken a photo of the fish tank. There's two giant gold fish in the smallest filthiest tank. It's so sad. We were right next to it. Gold fish need space, they need a big tank. It's so cruel to keep them so confined. The staff couldn't make any eye contact, except the one girl. They genuinely looked as though they'd get in trouble for looking at customers. We left and didn't order so can't say anything about the food but what we saw coming out to other tables didn't look anything like it does on their online menu. Take from that what you will.

28/10/2025: Delivery took over two hours. When we rang after an hour and twenty minutes for an update we were told food left kitchen but one Delivery driver with several orders. Food was cold when it got here and restaurant just stopped answering the phone when after 2 hours, we had lost confidence if it would even arrive. We sent a follow-up email the next day with still no response. Not sure I can recommend

19/03/2026: Had my son's Confirmation meal at the hotel recently. My husband and I had visited the hotel and met with Jessica weeks prior. She showed us around the different private rooms and we picked Raleighs, a small private room at the back of the hotel. It was for a group of 10 people. We had other venues lined up and even though the Walter came in more expensive we decided to pay that bit extra for a private room and a nice atmosphere. We paid our 100 deposit that day and we were looking forward to the event. Roll on to my son's special day, we arrived at the hotel and I went to let reception know that we had arrived. We were then told that another family were in the room we booked. Then, a few excuses from other staff members were that it was because we were a smaller group. Another excuse was that construction work was going on outside the window of the room and another one was that the breakfast stuff was put in there that morning. We ended up sitting out in the lobby on a makeshift table. We felt like we were sitting in a hallway. People were passing us and children from other parties were running around our table and at one stage went in underneath our table. My husband complained to the duty manager who seemed very dismissive. Later when my husband was up at the bar he was told the round had no charge. This was for 3 alcohol beverages and 3 soft drinks. We left feeling very disappointed and embarrassed in front of our guests. My son kept asking why we were sitting in the lobby when we had booked a private room. The next day, I emailed the hotel to complain and though apologetic at first, all we got was excuses. No offer of anything else or any other goodwill gesture. If you want to have a special family occasion, look elsewhere. I would not recommend this hotel.
