The best restaurants

29/09/2026: We ordered through Just Eat. The driver was not polite at all and not at the right location. He put the eircode and realised it was the wrong location, told me he will arrive soon… He never showed up and set the delivery as completed. His phone was not ringing anymore, nor did the shop. Awful experience!

25/09/2026: Best place for kebabs and burgers. Lot of option. Fresh food. Good customer service. Worth the money. Genuine prices. Service is best. Staff is friendly

15/08/2026: Badly needed stop on a long journey. Matt's was a godsend! Huge choice of dishes from a snack to a full meal. Very reasonably priced, made very welcome and great food.

07/08/2026: I was there recently and had a bad experience with the server a foreign white lady with brown bobbed haircut with a very nasty attitude. Ahe served my elderly relative the wrong type of coffee I rebought and paid for a new one for my relative and when I brought the other in for her to dispose of she nearly flipped out as she thought I probably wanted a free one. I had to explain to her all I wanted was for her to dispose of the wrong coffee she previously gave and she knew I had already paid for another one. She calmed down then but was still rude and unapologetic. Thank God my elderly relative didn't go back in to explain about the coffee because she probably would have attacked her.

01/06/2026: Definitely a crazy place when there's events happening (such as the biker's weekend) but still a decent place for a quick bite to eat. Shoutout to khouya Salim for his incredible craic, professionalism, and hard work there!

16/04/2026: The delivery guy tried to scam me out of 2 euros for transport upon delivery. And on Just Eat everything was paid for.

29/06/2026: I ordered the Amber Beef and Beef Chow Fun at Ho Kee. The Amber Beef was excellent — very authentic with strong wok hei, nothing like the watery versions you get from other takeaways. The Beef Chow Fun was also fantastic, loaded with beef and egg, and full of that same great wok aroma. The owner (lady boss) was incredibly nice. When she heard I was rushing to catch a train, she immediately asked the chef to prepare my order first. Really appreciate the great service! Thank you so much, and hope your business continues to thrive!

23/01/2026: Poor attitude and disinterested.

25/07/2026: Incorrect labelling of allergens. Fish and chips and burger and chips claimed to be gluten free but then told the chips are not gluten free according to server. Wings were labelled as not containing gluten but contain gluten. Couldn’t order anything gluten free and the menu being labelled incorrectly is worrying. Why have allergens on a menu if they are all incorrect in this day and age? Very disappointing and will not be back

13/06/2026: I have been to this restaurant several times, the quantity of food is good but I was not satisfied with the service because twice in a row they made us sit at a small table next to the kitchen door which slammed like hell and so twice we asked to move to another table.

09/09/2026: I was pleasantly surprised; a friend recommended it, and it was definitely a great choice. I didn't particularly like the place itself, neither the decor nor the fact that the dining area has no windows, which makes it feel a bit cramped. But the food was very good. Honestly, I don't remember the names of the dishes I ordered, except for the spring roll and the extra rice with tortilla, which I have to admit I've had better. But everything else was delicious. I really liked the wine, especially the fact that they had 750ml bottles; it's perfect for one person. They do a great job and have a lot of takeaway customers; they were constantly filling up orders, which is a very good sign. It wasn't expensive at all, so I'll definitely be back to try more dishes from time to time.

12/07/2026: Unless it's fried it all seems to be full of water! The spicy chips and prawn crackers are OK but the Chow Mein was so awful we put it outside for the foxes and even they wouldn't eat it! Some boiled chicken with frozen mixed veg and what looked like pot noodles floating in a load of water with a slight taste of beef dripping. No spices at all. THAT IS NOT CHOW MEIN!!! And not cheap at €12.50 either. Because they are the only Chinese in town that is the problem - no competition therefore you get what they give you. They are faster than McDonald's at getting your food ready which is a definite red flag.

25/08/2026: Nice chipper, staff professional if not overly friendly. Chips, Cod, tenders, battered sausages are all very nice and also a great place to sit in for breakfast but the biggest complaint I have about the place is the consistently miserable portions of chips. Bags are small to begin with and a lot of the time do be half full and at €4 should be a lot more chips in the bag.

09/07/2026: Unfortunately the standards have dropped here over the years especially with the takeaway part...chips always feel and taste like there not cooked properly very soggy and oily.

01/06/2026: We had Chicken Pad Thai. They made me a gluten-free version. Plus, there's gluten-free soy sauce and sriracha on every table. The flavor was incredible, with fresh ingredients. Water pitchers and glasses are available free of charge. The service is fast and attentive. I would definitely go back.

The staff are attentive, friendly, and create a welcoming atmosphere every time even if super busy. Our special compliments go to the store manager, Jay. He consistently notices the small details that others might overlook and ensures that everything runs smoothly while maintaining a warm and organized environment. His attentiveness and natural leadership are clearly reflected in the team’s attitude. What stands out most is his thoughtful and composed approach. He leads with confidence, fairness, and genuine care — qualities that are valuable. One can see that he takes pride in his work and sets high standards, not through pressure, but through example. It’s truly refreshing to see such professionalism combined with authenticity. Jay is a real asset, and his dedication does not go unnoticed. Thanks again Ramen.

15/09/2026: Asked for change from a £20 note to give to the hardworking staff especially the lady working outside…(I work hospitality so know the small things go such a long way). Owner Paul turns up clearly in a mood beforehand and refused my £20 note claiming it’s a fake. Unbeknown to me I offer an alternate note(s) and still refused and clearly no longer wanted any of my cash for a tip for his poor hardworking staff and even tried to teach me a lesson on the notes how to tell if real or not…! Bless the waitress looking at Paul in disgust as she now lost out on extra. Guess I’ll take my nan whom frequented here every single Monday somewhere else now.

06/02/2026: Looking at the menu on the Sheela Palace website it indicated dosas. This is an error, they do not serve dosas. Apparently that's done at their Dublin takeaway branch. They should fix their site. Selecting the Waterford restaurant on the website and then clicking on the online ordering option, Dosas are clearly listed at the bottom. First impressions on entering were not great. The interior is drab, confused and dated. A mix of colours and decorative elements that just don't make sense. The exception is the 2 large posters on one side of the reestaurant, which are lovely. I thought, given the greatly positive reviews the food must be amazing. Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience, at least with the mains. The Paneer tikka we had as a starter was ok. Can't say the same for the rest. We ordered the Vegetarian Biryani and Shahi paneer. Had a taste of the latter and it wasn't great at all. Practically inedible tbh. The Biryani looked good though and you can see effort had been made in its preparation with lots of vegetables and nuts and other things. The taste though was again strange. I've never had a sweet Biryani. They had generously added raisins to the rice. Also, the rice was clumpy which is just a very basic thing to get wrong. On crushing the clumps, white rice was exposed. This was not a Biryani dish at all but rather a vegetarian pulau dish with raisins. Kinda like a Kashmiri pulao, but not quite. It seemed like biryani spices had been lightly mixed into the preparation to give it that distinct aroma. The flavour was lacking however. The front-of-house staff were nice. Though one lady asked every customer what specific cutlery they wanted before setting the table. Nothing wrong with that mind you, but just added to the strangeness of the experience. I suspect the non-vegetarian fare is better given the previous positive reviews from other diners but if you're a Vegetarian I would not recommend this place.
