The best restaurants

06/11/2024: A few of us went up to the Ashe for dinner, as we have many times in the past, but instead of sitting us down a man came up to say the restaurant is for residents only... Despite all the local school uniforms we could see inside. We had a small child with us and it sure seems like they just didn't want to deal with the hassle!

17/09/2024: This should be higher as the food was excellent, unfortunately the service was not. Our order was taken and food presented without issue, but that was the last we saw of our server. I finally flagged down another worker and asked for the bill, they brought the bill back and then disappeared. I had to walk up to the bar and ask if I could pay there as there was no one else around. They need more staff.

05/01/2025: I just love eating here. So tasty, so nice and so comfortable. A very friendly place to spend time with family and friends and the food is exceptional in my opinion

02/12/2024: We wanted to pay with card and the waiter had a few bad comments about it, he almost wanted to force us to pay in cash. The food was kind of okay, but not fresh… I had to explain to the waiter 4 times what we want, he just doesnt pay attention or idk. 100% we do not come back again

31/10/2024: I used to go here everyday growing up. Very friendly workers and awesome owner, and the food was amazing definitely recommend, best in all of Ireland

20/12/2024: I was given a 2night Stay B&B with Dinner on 1 night. However we couldn't made it due to some emergencies?. they did 2 times exception but told us that we did many exception and won't be able to do futher more. it is very sad that this voucher somone had purchased and going in waste. sad to see such things in a 5 star property , However Joey was always helpful and Sandra was also. But there was a Reservation Team who wrote me back wasn't pleasant at all. Well we have no choice but to let go.

11/01/2025: Good fine takeaway but if the hunger gets you you can eat in.. I've yet to have a bad meal. Then I'm always checking before I leave.

14/12/2024: Een hele week, dagelijks, van ander dagvers aanbod zonder vlees kunnen genieten. Vleesgerechten staan uiteraard ook op de kaart. Uitstekende prijs / kwaliteit en zeer vriendelijke bediening. Een aanrader!

19/11/2024: Ordered a cake for our mom’s 80th birthday dinner, the cake was described as ‘best ever in life’. Also ordered gluten free cupcakes and they were delicious. Can’t recommend Ann and the White Gables team enough, the food and service is incredible. A definite must for any occasion. Have ordered breads, cupcakes, cake and hampers from White Gables, 10/10 every time. Thank you Ann and team.

14/11/2024: Ordered a chai latte from here, drink felt suspiciously light when I picked up the cup but when I got home I wanted to see how much of the drink was actually in the cup, this is a picture with all the foam and then once all the foam was removed, I paid full price for a barely half filled drink. Won't be back again.

10/11/2024: We arrived late to stay in airbnb in portmagee and our host mentioned three places around for a late sunday dinner. We did not have high expectations. After looking at all three places we chose Moorings because, surprisingly, it looked packed. The wait for table was pleasantly short and we chose beef stew and shellfish bisque. What a treat it was. Like Elaine Benes i am a sucker for bisque and that one was on par with the best i sampled. Beef stew was also very good. Congratulations to the chef and the restaurant attentive staff. Well done

06/11/2024: There are not many options in Portmagee during the off season, so we were very pleased with the quality of offerings in The Moorings. It has a large and varied regular menu as well as some very good specials. The food is excellent as is the service. My sister and I both had the seafood chowder as a starter and planned on sharing the goat cheese salad from the specials menu as our main. The chowder was so rich and plentiful that we never got around to the salad. My husband had the spinach and cheese tortellini and raved about it. My nephew had the seafood platter which was also excellent. My husband and I went back later in the week and had trouble choosing what to order. I don’t think you can go wrong with whatever you order at The Moorings.

15/10/2024: Lovely pub! The staff is really helpful and if you're looking for a place to do a group party or celebrate something with friends, I definitely recommend it. They have a separate area that its great for it.

27/09/2024: These haters can shut up. This place is great. Wonderful spot got a quiet pint away from the tourists and noise of city centre. We’re American and found it to be aces. Wonderful music on Wednesday nights. Friendly staff.

12/01/2025: 1st time going to marina market today, and wasnt sure what food to try I ended up going for mkt burger and my friends all tried something different from different vendors. Although all the food was really nice have to say hands down mkt burger was excellent 👌. The staff were really helpful and friendly,the atmosphere was very nice, quick service, the mkt burger was so good 💯 tastiest burger iv ever had and the chips were crispy and tasty, looking forward to going back again only problem is I'll find it hard now to go anywhere else but mkt burger after experiencing it today.

19/12/2024: I stopped here to try their burgers, and they were brilliant! The fries were alright. They were kinda dry. The staff were friendly. The atmosphere wasn't that good as it was very cold. But it was a great suggestion for my birthday! 👍

15/11/2024: Didn't know this was a pub from the outside looks closed, but very good high up location. But we did see a very cute cat nearby

14/10/2024: Change your opening times on Google! Walked all the way through the town and up to this pub to have the door shut on us, and no answer, even though your opening times suggested we could come for a drink!
