The best restaurants

16/03/2025: This Chinese take away has stood the test of time unlike some of the neighboring businesses. I think that the location is the problem as there is a restricted customer reach in this location and it is off the beaten path in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains. It also could do with a refurbishment or deep clean. The food is good and the price is right. Congratulations is in order for lasting in business for as many years as I remember.

23/01/2025: Absolutely scam and overpriced. 9 euros for literally 15 raw fries, 5 pieces of overcooked chicken, 4 slices of rotten onion and 1 slice of red chilli. No salt and chilli and full of oil. Unbelievable how someone has the courage to sell something like this, I will never ever order again and I'll make sure all my colleagues and friends will do the same.

01/01/2025: The best pizza I’ve ever had. The staff are always so friendly, food is piping hot when delivered and they always do the extra toppings you ask for. 10/10

05/01/2025: The best duck i ever had.. flaverfull dishes quick service. Got a teriaki ramen with a duck and it was amazing.. duck was chrispy and noodles where amazing and jucy.. recommend 4 every 1🙂

20/04/2025: Horrible place, was supposed to have had my surprise engagement on here the weekend. My friends had been there earlier that day setting up balloons they had gotten made for me. the plan was that my friends would be waiting for me to arrive to 1314 to ‘surprise’ me, that was soon ruined as the bouncers refused my 25/26 year old friends, my friends are lovely respectful girls they explained to the bouncers that it was my surprise engagement and they had booked an area of the bar off for this occasion. They didn’t even ask them for their ID and the only explanation they gave was ‘they have right to refuse’. I was at a dinner with another few friends while this was all going on, please see attached messages from the manager to my friend previous that day. When my friend went to collect everything they had set up for me previously that day to bring down to house Limerick they had left the it all outside in the rain. Disgusting behaviour I will never darken the door to this dive again. The biggest shout out to house Limerick for hosting 17 of us such short notice they made my surprise engagement party so much better than 1314 would ever.

19/04/2025: So my friend had her surprise engagement party booked here for tonight, the area was blocked off and decorated earlier today, fast forward to this evening around 7.45 we all headed in none of us had had any drinks before hand as we all have kids anyway not one of us were left in. All refused for no reason what so ever, bouncers extremely rude all we received was not tonight and we don’t need to explain why, they did not as much as give us eye contact or ask for ID. This is disgraceful we are all over the age of 25s the area was decorated none of us had a single drink before entering. What a way to completely ruin someone’s experience! I will never step foot in here again a lot of custom is been lost by these so called bouncers. It was once a lovely pub to go to now it’s the perfect place to go to if you want to be treated with 0 respect. I do hope the owner sees this review. Ruining someone’s engagement party, do not take a booking if you are not going to leave the persons whose party it is in. Completely disgusted by this behaviour.

19/01/2025: Used to be a firm favourite of mine, went there last night and was shocked by the price and over all quality of the food. The chicken/noodle soup - sliced chicken roll of some sort, possibly tinned! I won't go on about the rest, that say's it all to me, standards well below what used to be a great place to eat.

06/05/2025: Paid nearly €20 for a cold salmon and small salad just to get food poisoning an hour later. Filthy glasses,chowder and soup was watery and very poor value if i could rate a 0 star i would. Very poor, do not recommend, stay safe,eat somewhere else

15/04/2025: Good place where you can eat here in Kilkenny. You can try real Irish food for a fair price and it’s close to the castle!

06/03/2025: From the balcony (southwest) you can see the sea and the pier. We had a room on the second floor (steps, no elevator). It is now the beginning of March, and the room is cold, the heating was turned on for a short period in the evening, and the radiators were cold at night and in the morning. The water in the shower is very warm and has good pressure. There is a small sandy beach across the road, right next to the pier, you can swim on the beach and fish from the pier. There is a sauna and a cafe on the beach.

24/09/2024: Stopped off on our way back to the UK. We had booked a studio. Room very tired. The bathroom shower cubicle was not clean and there was a broken door. The kitchen basic and again the window was not clean, the mirror in the main room was also not clean. In front of the rooms there were a couple of tables and chairs - but again the whole area needed to be tided and cleaned. No food was available at the hotel so, we went to a local takeaway. Given it was over £150 for a one night stay, room only, I was expecting a more modern facility with up to date, clean rooms. For me, not great value for money and I would look elsewhere next time.

26/03/2025: It was my moms birthday and the staff were absolutely amazing start to finish and made her feel very special on her day food is always amazing here 🥰

03/02/2025: Fantastic value for money ,the barbecue ribs are melt in the mouth delicious, the hickory chicken main is a personal favourite, highly recommend this restaurant as either sit in or takeaway

06/04/2025: Ordered a tasty box with shredded chicken, chips and curry sauce. Was ready 10 minutes later. Small portions and no sauce, payed €10. Not on 😿 very sad

11/01/2025: The service is good. The food is good in most aspects, my only complaints are the use of salt is excessive and the crispy chicken itself is just crispy, no chicken. It seems to have absolutely no chicken in the crispy chicken which is just a way for them to maximise revenue and cut costs. Other than that the food is ready quick, staff are polite and most items are good.

20/11/2024: House special in black bean sauce 8/10 Boiled rice 1.5/10 Rice was like rubber I recommend the House special in black bean its good but don't get with boiled rice

10/02/2025: Absolutely disgusting they should be ashamed hair in food and they refused to refund us in full and claimed we had put the hair there chicken is salty af gives u heartburn and is not tasty customer service horrible insulting us in Chinese not knowing i know how to speak it absolutely disgusting do not recommend dont waste ur time eating here or should i say HAIR
