The best restaurants

02/08/2026: Absolute kip. 30€ for a stale roll and chips. All produce is from tesco as well. Don’t bother going you be better off getting the Tesco meal deal across the road

01/08/2026: Staff were so friendly and gas. We had a chicken stuffing sandwich, a regular smash burger and a ham sandwich. All came with chips that were perfectly cooked to be crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Everything we had was amazing but the smash burger really stood out as the best. The place was immaculately clean.

17/03/2026: The food is good and when I get it delivered the longest I’ve waited is a bit over an hour and the shortest is only 10 minutes, usually it’s 40 minutes which is good especially when the shop is busy, when I usually order

28/06/2026: Ordered Americano and cinnamon pastry. Coffee tasted watered down and way too hot. Swirl was heated but tasted stale. Didn't drink the coffee. Won't ever be a customer of a Starbucks franchise again.

29/03/2026: I used to be a very loyal customer of Costa Portarlington but now going forward never again I will go back and support this business after today. I went in today and went to go to the counter to get a coffee and scanned my Costa app on my phone and the staff member (her name Sakunrat) told me the item I was getting was free today as I had a coupon. Now I began to question her why did I have a coupon as they never normally give out free drinks just like that, and she didn’t explain to me and told me it was free. So I completed the sale and asked for a receipt just to make sure but little of my knowledge the only reason why it was free because she used it against all of my loyalty card points. I was unaware of this and neither would’ve I consented for this to happen as I was saving up those points for a day I might need them. I was left in absolute distraught and anger after this had happened. I was a very loyal customer of Costa Portarlington and I will assure you I will never support this business anymore until this disgusting behaviour is sorted.

27/02/2026: I would give them no star if I could. Let say that one "star" is for them, helping me to go look for another coffee shop in town which went really well. The dark hair Polish staff was very rude and unprofessional. I WON'T go there again.

09/07/2026: Got shred chick on 2 occasions burns both times and too salty , when I complained all I got was , thank you I’ll tell the chef , terrible service , I won’t be back

01/03/2026: I ordered a quarter aromatic duck from here yesterday and when I got home I was genuinely shocked to find it was completely burnt. The duck was black, dry, and so overcooked it was totally inedible. This wasn’t a case of it being slightly overdone, it was severely charred and should never have left the kitchen. What’s most concerning is that someone had to see the state of that duck before packaging it. There is no way the condition of it wasn’t obvious. Sending out food that badly burnt shows a serious lack of care, quality control, and basic standards. The other dishes I ordered were acceptable but entirely forgettable, and certainly not good enough to make up for the main item being inedible. I genuinely don’t understand how any chef or kitchen could knowingly put blackened, burnt duck into a carton and hand it to a paying customer. It suggests a complete disregard for both customers and the restaurant’s own reputation.

06/06/2026: Food was served on time, so no issue there. But the taco chips are very disappointing! Bland beyond belief, and nowhere near that price-tag. Would do well to learn how to do a proper taco chips first, I think. It was like having some boiled beef on chips - very disappointing from what's supposed to be a proper chippy. Chicken fillet burger was sloppy. Chicken was tasty and big, but found the burger very damp altogether. Just not the best. Wasn't the worst I've had, but you expect better from a place like this.

27/06/2026: This is a first for me, as I never leave bad reviews but unfortunately my stay in your hotel was a bad experience. There were a few sour points with the stay , I booked a Deluxe double for a concert Tuesday & stayed in room115. 1. Bathroom was kitted out for a mobility spec which thankfully I don't need yet in life or did I book 2. On arrival no remote for TV in room so strolled down to reception & received replacement, my partner lets me know still no good as TV won't switch on.i realise no power going to TV, walk down to reception again who obviously knew the first time I went downstairs (hence no remote)that the TV is broken & told they will try fix tomorrow. 3. My biggest issue was the shower,it was great weather Tuesday thankfully & my partner goes in for shower but the water is cold so I go in to double check incase missed a switch or something somewhere. Again I've to go down to reception & asked if problem with the hot water in hotel. She starts telling me I'm not using shower head correctly as have to shake shower head to run hot water, then I asked if maybe there is a switch on the wall that I may have missed or something which she dismissed. I asked could somebody in maintenance have a look at the shower as it was just 3.30pm but was rudely dismissed & told nobody available until tomorrow.

13/06/2026: Where do I even begin? I was warned that it was a cheap hotel, but I didn’t expect it to be this bad. Relaxing was impossible, and the overall experience was far from comfortable. I understand that you often get what you pay for, but even at a budget price, I expected a basic level of comfort and peace.

06/06/2026: The Fish Market in Mullingar is a fantastic fishmonger and takeaway with an excellent range of fresh fish on display. The hot food offering is equally impressive, and the scampi is a personal favourite—consistently delicious and never disappointing. It is also very convenient that delivery is available, making it an easy and reliable choice for a great quality seafood treat.

01/04/2026: The Pizza Rolly is probably the best invention of all time. It’s my death row meal. I was saddened to discover the recent closure. Hopefully it reopens soon and maybe other franchises of Mizzoni’s can adopt the infamous Pizza Rolly

07/04/2026: Takeaway non-veg meal with lamb sheekh with lamb madras. So nice! But I am not sure why there’s no samosa. Anyway, lamb beriani wasn’t that bad because there’s this strong flowery smell. Not sure what was it.

20/03/2026: Ordered the Goan prawn curry last night. The flavour was really lovely, but unfortunately the portion of prawns was very small — it was mostly sauce with very few prawns, and no vegetables to balance it out. A bit disappointing. Onion Bhaji was really tasty

24/06/2026: I got a brekkie mac here. The staff are lovely and so kind. They were so busy and only took 10 mins to complete my order. They clearly work hard and deserve to be recognised for this!

21/06/2026: Ridiculous, by far the worst experience that I had in Ireland.. Went there with my daughter for a simple 99er, after 30minutes was till waiting for the icecreams. Their excuse was that they were understaff and that the manager wouldnt hire more people, but, in the meanwhile they were service lots of people that arrived after me. Ended asking for a refund, went to mcdonals just across the street and got our ice creams in less than 5 minutes

07/06/2026: Fabulous fresh pizza , relaxed vibe, great service, garlic bread was proper homemade and fresh, definitely recommend calling here. 🍕🤌

24/05/2026: Set Menu for an Italian Trattoria is hilarious 🤣🤣…Pizza and Pasta is not that complicated…good luck but we happily exited to the Blue Room opposite for better vibe and setting.
