The best restaurants

03/04/2025: This feels like a scam. €13 for a bowl that’s mostly rice? Seriously? You used to offer three components, and that’s what people expected based on your advertising. Now you're suddenly asking if we want rice or fries—but without explaining that rice is now one of the three and not just a base. The result? Almost the entire bowl is just rice. If you’re going to make changes like that, at least communicate them properly—put up a sign or tell customers before they pay. This is misleading and completely unacceptable.

02/04/2025: Curry chips in a little paper cuppy thingy, enjoyed on a walk home on a Tuesday night after going from Fred’s, to the Hi-B, to the Crane Lane, to The Pav. It was after 2am and they were clearing out everything so it’s safe to say I’ve had better chips on a cattle ferry from Ringaskiddy to Roscoff in October. Exactly what was needed at that time of night! The girl working there is a star. She even held my chips after I walked back to take the picture!

21/12/2024: staff working on Friday 20th December werw extremely rude and could do with some training. they found it very difficult to arrange a small cup of hot chocolate for a 2 year old and were rude about it.

19/01/2025: Absolutely horrible service from here as a local was disgusted with the lack of respect. Firstly, driver arrived and requested extra money for the garlic dip for the pizza. Said fine, got the money and then realised there was no drink, while food was also lukewarm with the meat on the pizza a concerning colour as well as softness for “crispy bacon”. Then rang the shop to let them know they forgot the drink, where they were too busy taking to one another, finally got their attention to be told they left out the drink because the offer is only for weekdays. I asked them why would they have the offer available on the website if it was only for midweek and why would they not have rang to inform me of this rather then purposefully leaving out items that were ordered. This was ignored, no apology, no explanation. Not to forget there was about 10 chips in a large portion.

18/03/2025: Spent 80 euro on food to night patricks night stayed in a hotel ran out left kids watching the movie needed to bring in 5 pizza boxes 4 cans that were not in a bag and the bag my food was in was ripped asked delivery driver that sat in hes car and would not get out to help me in with the food he said its my own fault and i should have thought it threw which i thought was SO rude when he realised the paper bag was tore into pieces brought the riped bag into reception i brought 5 pizza boxes 4 cans one droped as im a small girl lifting it in he was so rude if the paper bag wasnt riped he wuldnt have gotten out of the car didnt even have a bag for the drinks rudest man i ever came cross every delivery driver i ever met gete out of thr car t9 hand me foood not him through the window one can slaped off the floor bursted every were and he just look at me with the riped bag and walked on while i struggled with everything food was brutal as well with the amount of money we spent id atleast expect someone to be nice NEVER EVER EVER again ordering from here save your self ur money if your about to order and DONT stay well well clear

05/03/2025: Hi, I have coeliac disease, so I ordered a gluten-free pizza from Four Star Pizza. I was told that they could offer me that food but ...... Unfortunately, the staff were not careful and there was cross-contamination which made me sick that day. The next day, when I asked for a complaint form, I was told there was none available. I strongly advise anyone with dietary restrictions to be very careful if they choose to dine here.

08/04/2025: Absolutely awful , chips either burned or reheated from last night , chicken ball were the same burned to a crisp , inedible. Call shop and was told " bring them back for a replacement " . Stay well clear of this joint.

29/03/2025: Worst indian food i ever had,first time in lastnight,onion Bhajees over cooked and no flavour,rice was ok ,Jalfreezi was tasteless and chips were ok..overall the food was tasteless and only warmesh,no point in having fancy packaging and not having, food to match...very poor experiance,never again,much better takeaways around.

30/03/2025: Big place but the sitting area is a mess. Messed up order even though not that many people. Coffee taste wise is mediocre. Food was tasty.

06/04/2025: Ordered a pizza from here and it was cooked and delivered in under 15 minutes! Once I opened the door Omar was very kind and when I asked for him to wait so I could go upstairs and grab a tip he insisted that it was fine and that a good review would be worth much more to him. Great man, great food, great service. Go you omar!

13/04/2025: Not normally one to leave a review but food was revolting. Curry sauce may as well have been flavored water. No taste off it at all. At least I know now i suppose Ordered via drone

22/03/2025: It was the worst takeaway of the year, so I'm putting it one star. Ordered via Manna delivery The smell of the food was disgusting. Chips from the spice bag were super oily and smelled like old oil—hardly any chicken. Singapore chow mein dish was in a weird spice and super dry, and the meat was chewy and old - I had to throw it away (I had never done this in my Local Guide life). Never again.

13/04/2025: If you are thinking about coming here... don't. I have been to COSTA several times this year and couldn't even begin to explain the awful treatment I've experienced from management. This review has nothing to do with baristas and solely is for the management. Management is always in the back, no where to be found when help is needed. Baristas are 'not allowed' to speak and engage with customers. One barista is always banished in the back to do dishes and cleaning the floors, while the counters are understaffed. Baristas are all very nice, but it is obvious they are nervous to do anything with the fear of retaliation from management. Would've loved to enjoy a drink and bakery item here with the small-town feel of Maynooth, but in reality I just feel bad for these workers and hope they can find something different soon.

01/03/2025: The barista was busy trying to ask what to study for an oncoming test while 9 was trying to make my order. When I got my drink (caramel frappe) the drink was not mixed right at all and obviously hadn't been blended properly. Such shame since I love Costa.

26/09/2024: LANNEY’S SUPERVALU ARDEE I am in tears and shock writing this, but today I went to SuperValu in Ardee, where I go literally everyday and where I also just done my shopping before the situation escalated. So, I felt lucky and I thought I would buy the lotto for tonight’s euro millions. I went up to the counter where they sell these kind of stuff and as I was paying for the ticket I asked the lady a question about the plus 2€ extra on the ticket which made her think I was not old enough to be served, so she asked for my ID. No problem, I did not have it with me but I live right across from the shop so I went home to get it and I went back to the shop right away. She must of had a bad day, because she looked at the card where you can see all my details with my birth date and the photo of me, as she told me she will not accept this because it is not a GARDAI AGE CARD. I was shocked and told her that this card is my ID it is a Hungarian ID with my fingerprint in it, I use it to fly across the EU this is more valid than any kind of GARDAI ID that she was on about. But I have to say, a person who works at these places should know what to accept and what not to. Before starting an argument over races and preferences. She kept arguing and I told her I come here everyday, I bought lotto and scratch cards not once but at least 100 times here before and things escalated as the queue started to fill up as well.. I asked for the manager and I was hoping I would be clarified and let go with my ticket. Unfortunately this is not what happened. I am so disappointed with all the people who work there and with all the people that saw this because not one person stood beside me, in fact they called me names and told me to get the …. out and move on etc. I was so shocked I don’t even know if I cried but I tried to be strong and keep up for myself as I know I was at the right place and this is unacceptable as well as racism at this point. They kept repeating that I can only get it with a GARDAI Age card but it is not true! I can say this from personal experience, I worked at various similar places where I had to ID people and know the different types of IDs and passports even on a deeper level. Anyways, I went to school here in Ardee, I live here for more than 6 years and I go to this place everyday. One of the workers who were also standing up for their manager and the co worker, she even went to the same school as me. I was shamed and told to leave because they will not serve me, I started to get angry and said I am not leaving until they serve me. They can even ring the gardai I said. I stood there for a while as the manager and the workers humiliated me and started serving the other customers in line who were all calling me names such as stupid little girl and were all against me. And the moment I realised this was all racism when the old lady behind me in line came up beside me and said I am in the wrong and Hungary is not even in the EU she was claiming to be exact she said to me “ Hungary is in Europe but not part of the Union” and all of them were silent = agreed. At this point I realised there is no reason for me to be standing in a place with a bunch of idiots around me. I felt so humiliated and hurt I went out of the shop crying. Not because I felt one bit guilty for my actions or behaviour because I think anyone else would have done the same at least.

15/03/2025: Very rude waitress brought out the wrong food and was very rude and dismissive when we told her the food was wrong. Will not be returning until they change the rude staff member. My friend has been very poorly since eating at the restaurant. Don't go to this place awful staff and food makes you ill

08/03/2025: Happy to discriminate We went to dine in Feast today as we heard a lot of good things about it Unfortunately the owner doesn’t seem to understand the legalities of service dogs and is happy to discriminate and ironically for somebody working in hospitality was most inhospitable We went in and sat down as far as the way from the kitchen as we could as it was an open kitchen and understand that food hygiene is very important to most proprietors A lady came over and told us we would not be served as dogs are not allowed. I explained to the lady that the dog in question was actually a service dog and had the cert to confirm the same I asked the matter to be escalated as the waitress wasn’t getting the in subtle difference between a dog and service dog and I have never been denied service to a restaurant once they understand the situation The owner came over and was immediately very defensive. She claimed I was being rude but clearly she was flustered and just did not understand the legislation. I gave her the example of a guide dog coming in and would she withhold service and her answer was no but the parallels seemed to be lost on her when I pointed out and asked her what the difference was to which she had no answer but became intent on just getting us out and holding her position rather than realising the error of her position. What annoyed me as much was the owners claim of me being rude when I was merely pointing out what she was saying was incorrect and I was trying to be sure she was clear it was a service dog. I never once raised my voice, never once cut her off when she was speaking she was handling the situation poorly and then just threw out insults I am acutely aware of the importance of kitchen hygiene, which she tried to hide behind but given we were sat at the furthest point away from the kitchen it was a moot point on her part. I have also eaten in restaurants with open kitchens with our service dog and it wasn’t an issue It was a very awkward situation and very embarrassing I would never go back nor recommend the restaurant due to the owners position of seemingly being comfortable to discriminate against people with disabilities I take no joy in witting such a review and maybe the owner was having a bad day but the treatment we received was nothing short of a disgrace
