12/04/2025: We had one of the best meals out ever in 'House of Plates' in Castlebar last night. The food was amazing from starter to dessert. Gorgeous menu and everything was cooked to perfection. The extra little touches - the snack, breads & lollipop sorbet were a delight. Staff were fabulous! - friendly, efficient, professional and in no way pretentious. If you happen to be visiting Mayo, don't miss out on this culinary delight. A hidden gem that deserves to be recognised for excellent food and service. Keep doing what you're doing, guys!

23/05/2025: Delightful atmosphere with superb seafood chowder, wonderful soda bread, and delicious apple rhubarb cake. Wish it was closer to home, but definitely a must-do when in Doolin!

21/05/2025: We came here after visiting Cliff of Moher. We definitely don't regret this choice. We ordered fish and chips and chowder. The food were nice, with a cosy and nice ambience. Staffs are friendly too. Highly recommended.

01/05/2025: A positive surprise, given the modest external appearance. My friend and I enjoyed a good dinner there, with attentive and professional service by the waitress serving us and other staff. We had several vegetarian dishes and all tasted well, so I can guarantee the place for vegetarians. For vegans, there are a few options too. Details: My friend suggested we get the olives; now... I LOVE good olives and often get excellent ones. I rarely order such appraisers since in many restaurants the olives served are same or less than the ones I regularly buy, so why bother. In this case, I was positively surprised both by the quantity and quality of the olives served. We enjoyed the Mushroom & Gorgonzola Arancini as we did the Mushroom Panzerotti, which was very tasty. Lastly, the Buffalina was just what we wanted: fairly simple, thin-crested pizza with specific accurate taste. The only (small) complaint I'd have is with the wine list: the Italian wine we initially chose wasn't available so we 'had to' with a more expensive one, which we did enjoy. All in all: a place to return to for either lunch or dinner.

28/04/2025: Lovely food at this truly Authentic Italian restaurant with a great choice of dishes not all listed here. The staff are exceptionally friendly and efficient. Never disappoints.

Food is alright (though the chowder really is very good) But the look and feel of the place makes me feel all kinds of warm and fuzzy; especially love the back extension, it’s such a cosy, happy little spot for some lunch

09/05/2025: Totally delicious meal. The special starter of foie gras and duck terrine was phenomenal, and the steak frites hit the spot perfectly. Great wine selection. Staff could have been a bit less pushy on dessert/coffee but it was a weeknight and I understand the guys wanna head home. The table next to us kept taking out their phone torches to read the menu and it often disturbed my mum, catching her eyes as we were eating our meal. Perhaps you could have small standing battery charged reading lamps to offer just while reading the menus and taking them away once the order has been taken.

25/04/2025: Booked a table for 8 of us. We arrived early but our table was ready. We all had mixture of starters, mains and deserts. Wine, beer and soft drinks. Our meal was absolutely perfect. All 8 meals perfect, very attentive staff. Really impressive evening.

21/05/2025: We made a reservation because there was no room otherwise. We started with the seafood chowder and a ministrone, delicious. Then we tried the shepherd's pie (potato pie), and it was the best we've had so far! The vegetable salad was delicious. We had a still water and a lager. The service was very good and the quality was excellent. Highly recommended for delicious traditional Irish food!
