Finnegans

Dublin
30/12/2025: Went in here before Christmas for some food. The person that showed us to our table and was waiting on us was so rude. Maybe it was because we were not locals? She was short and abrupt when taking our orders and did not seem approachable at all. We felt like a nuisance if anything. It's unfortunate because it seems like a nice place otherwise.
23/12/2025: Great pint..excellent service lovely atmosphere.

McGann's Pub

15/01/2026: Visiting Doolin in the very quiet month of January, McGanns was one of the few places open serving food. We went for lunch after a brisk cliff walk and loved the seafood chowder and vegetable soup. The Guiness and Irish coffee was great too. Service was friendly welcoming and efficient, and the fire burning was warm and cosy.
06/01/2026: Food was amazing and service was great! Nice decorations inside and there is free parking out back.

20/12/2025: Great little pub/ restaurant. We got a last minute booking for 4 of us and I had never eaten here before but I was not disappointed. The food was amazing and the portions are huge. The service came with a smile and friendly chat even though the staff were clearly on top of their heads. I will definitely be back soon.

DeVille's

Dublin
19/01/2026: I dined in Deville's upon recommendation with 2 other friends last week. It was a disappointing experience. Food: Mediocre. I started with the pear and blue cheese salad. Upon arrival the mixed greens were the only ingredients visible other than the pear which seemed thrown on top. The red onion and candied walnuts and cheese was buried underneath the greens. The cheese was almost non-existent. In a restaurant of this caliber I expected a few small pieces of creamy blue cheese but I could only find a few tiny crumbles of the cheese. Crumbled cheese is the cheapest and this is not what I expected at all. It was pretty appalling. The other starters we ordered- crab salad was decent but the prawns in butter were not fresh. My friend ate them but he did remark that they did not seem to taste fresh and felt unwell during the night. I'm sure the prawns were the reason. For mains, I had filet steak. The others had lamb chops and the Chicken Florentine dish. The lamb chops were two mammoth double chops that were just too big. My friend was turned off by the size of them. My steak was cooked the way I liked, but it was not a tender filet. I've had much, much better. The bearnaise sauce that came with it was just bland, not offensive, but had no real pucker or flavor. For dessert, we ordered the banoffie pie which definitely felt like it bought in and not made in-house. Overall, food quality and presentation was very mediocre and lacked refinement. It was also disappointing that no bread basket was offered at the start of the meal. Service: The waiters were very pleasant but at times they congregated at the bar to the rear of where we were seated. On a few occasions, we had real difficulty getting their attention. Ambience/Atmosphere: the restaurant has a nice feel to it, and it felt comfortable and intimate. Overall, Deville's does not represent value for money. It is not cheap and I was expecting more. I would not be in any hurry to return.

Nancy's

Ardara
08/01/2026: Nancy’s Bar in Ardara is the kind of establishment that captures the soul of Donegal the moment you step through its traditional red doors. This family-run gem manages to feel both like a step back in time and a masterclass in modern hospitality. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the fantastic full selection of oysters. Brimming with the fresh, saline bite of the Atlantic, they were expertly shucked and served with a precision that honors the quality of the local catch. Following this, the open prawn sandwich was a delight generous portions of succulent prawns resting on hearty bread paired perfectly with a bowl of seafood chowder. The chowder was velvety and packed with flavor, avoiding the common pitfall of being overly floury. While the pub's popularity means it can get quite snug and bustling during peak hours potentially leading to a short wait for a table the atmosphere is so authentically warm that you hardly mind. The service is efficient yet retains that genuine Irish charm that makes you feel like a regular. Nancy’s isn't trying to be a polished gastro-pub; it’s a characterful, honest sanctuary for seafood lovers. It remains an essential stop for anyone traveling the Wild Atlantic Way.
05/01/2026: Nancy’s is truly a hidden gem. My partner and I decided to visit Nancy’s on a whim on our road trip. We were delighted to have what we can easily rank the best fish and chips we’ve had. We also tried the Seafood Chowder, which was great. We’ll definitely visit again!
