de Barra
Clonakilty
24/05/2026: We ended up at DeBarra's on a Monday evening via a travel guide. Every evening there is live music by local musicians. The atmosphere is intimate, and you can sit comfortably in front of the fireplace. Highly recommended.
15/05/2026: We stopped in with a small group for drinks, conversation and music. Loved the atmosphere and the music. If you want beer or booze, they have all the Irish choices. And the bartender, working alone, did a pretty amazing job of keeping up with a crowded bar room. Don't ask for a cocktail, though. They don't serve them.

The Long Valley
Cork
04/07/2026: As a proud Corkman who lives only 10 minutes away, I’m almost embarrassed to admit that today was my first time eating in the Long Valley. I’d tried a few times before, but it was always packed—which says a lot about the place.
I’m delighted I finally made it in. The food was excellent, the portions were generous, and the staff were friendly, welcoming and professional. To top it all off, the bill was incredibly reasonable for the quality and amount of food.
It’s easy to see why this place has such a great reputation. A proper Cork institution that’s well worth a visit. I’ll definitely be back—those sandwiches have more than earned their reputation as some of the best in Cork.
04/07/2026: What has happened to the Long Valley sandwich? this used to be great experience, Today however, I spent 14 Euros and 40 cents on two chicken salad sandwiches which were composed of dry tastless bread, dried up chicken - no. mayo which had been requested - no seasoning , or dressing They were utterly tasteless. I only ate 1/4 .
Is it just me or is 14 euros too much for very poor food?
1 star but only because it provided calories if you were starving.

Reel Dingle Fish
An daingean
05/07/2026: Reel Dingle Fish is one hell of a chipper. Declan is a great guy and makes some fantastic and fresh fish n chips. I’m glad to have had a chat and a bit of craic about our mutual love for New Jersey. Also best curry chips in town!
04/07/2026: The best fish and chips I've ever had.

Charred

02/06/2026: The falafel burger is really nice, chips are just the right ratio of crunch to chomp, onion rings were nice BUT were a lil bit skinny inside da batter but that’s ok I still ate them all no bother, overall seriously nice place, can’t wait to bring my pals here
20/05/2026: I just recently tried this place and am
sorry I waited so long. Their burgers are delicious but I also enjoyed the falafel sandwich.

Palace Bar
Dublin
11/07/2026: Visited a few times over my time in Dublin.
Got some great advice on Whiskey from the bar staff who all pointed me in different directions, all had their favourite, and all were honest about what they didn't like as well.
Great atmosphere, parked up at the bar for a couple of hours each time, yarned to some locals, some tourists, and the staff. Highly recommend.
Also some great beer too. Not just Guinness.
10/07/2026: A golden whiskey

Lemon Jelly
Dublin
08/07/2026: Amazing food, coffee, and vibes! Pascal is great and very friendly!
08/07/2026: Coffee here is great! Flat white was made to perfection. A hard find! The freshly squeezed juices were very refreshing and delicious!
I haven’t had their crepes for a good few years but I do remember they were very tasty!
Edit:
Stopped by again, had a savoury crepe and it was quite disappointing. I had a crepe with chicken, cheddar and spinach. The whole dish was very bland, chicken used was definitely shop bought pieces of chicken breast. The crepe itself must have been sitting for a while as it wasn’t even hot. Even with added relish on the side it was all extremely bland. No seasoning at all. All just slapped together

Cassidy's Restaurant
Tralee
09/07/2026: This place is old school food done well.
It felt like being back at my grandmothers house.
Had the soup and steak and both were delicious. The side veg was great too. Nothing fancy, nice ingredients, well cooked.
There are a few religious statues pictures up around the place but this just enhanced the old school Ireland atmosphere.
08/07/2026: We were in Tralee for the night and went to Cassidys as the reviews were good! The food was delicious, seafood was super fresh and the waiting staff were very friendly. We had the chowder and crab claws to start, and the sea bass and carbonara for mains.
The only downside for me was how slow it was between courses (40 minutes). I understand they were busy, however, other tables around us were getting their main courses much faster than us so it felt as though there may have been a mixup!

Nancy’s Barn
Ballyliffin
17/07/2026: A cozy local eatery that makes great food at a reasonable price. Locally, they are world-famous 😁. We had the delicious clam holder.
Definitely worth the detour.
09/07/2026: This is a must see in Ballyliffin! Their chowder is phenomenal, of course, but they’ve also done an amazing job of mixing local cuisine with flavors from around the world. The fish tacos are my absolute favorite right now, since it’s the perfect mix of fish and chips and a little taste of being home in the US. Not to mention their amazing wait staff who make sure that everyone who walks in the door is made to feel at home while they’re inside. They’ve also done a great job of honoring the legacy of the barn while bringing in modern conveniences.
