30/08/2026: I found Nancy’s Barn on Google Maps while looking for a place to have a late lunch after a day touring the Northern Irish Coast. We are on holiday from the USA and places like Nancy’s Barn are making our trip special. It’s a gem that’s off the beaten path and just down the road from Malin Head. The menu is creative and the chowder is definitely a star (with a rich history). The fish tacos were quite tasty and prepared perfectly - they go well with onion rings. And I really enjoyed the apple crumble to finish off the meal. The staff are friendly and fast. We got to meet Kieran (the owner) on the way out and that made our visit even better. He’s so energetic and nice and really proud of his restaurant. Do yourself a favor and stop here if you’re in the area.

16/09/2026: I’m a guide and brought my recent group here and I have to say, everything about this place is 10/10, top tier - the delicious food, the lovely staff, the interior, the atmosphere. The place is huge and accommodates groups really well. Right in the heart of the city and steeped in Irish history. I will definitely be back!

14/05/2026: Colette and the entire team at Monks were kind, welcoming, and friendly. The hotel appeared updated and was comfortable. The restaurant served a great fish pie and some delicious salty oysters.

11/09/2026: Well worth a visit, make sure you book though. Food was amazing, we had the seafood chowder which was delicious and lamb shank that melted off the bone. Really good portion sizes and would go back every night.

08/09/2026: Highly recommended if you like fish and chips and know what to expect. Fresh local fish; we ordered smoked cod and monkfish, both excellent, especially the monkfish. The chips were very good, though perhaps a little less salt would have been nice. Friendly staff (I didn't notice if they washed their hands, as the food is cooked at high temperatures, and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger). There's a bar with a few stools where you can eat your order. The music is a bit loud. Orders take about 10 to 15 minutes to arrive, as everything is prepared fresh.

13/09/2026: Its a small place and when full youre hearing everything from the next table which is ok if you like that type of thing. The atmosphere is quite nice with a long stemmed candle on each table. Toilets were upstairs but maybe there was an accessible toilet downstairs not sure. Food was delicious but the main portions were smaller than I'd expect. My piece of fish was quite thin over a bed of potatoes to bulk it out but it was scrumptious Veg were delicious. My brownie was ok. Didn't taste like it was made that day. Possibly defrosted and warmed up? If a restaurant offers brownies I believe they should be fresh. My husband got the wrong main, he ordered from one menu but got something simular from the smaller menu. Rather than us eating separately while he waited for a replacement he just plowed on. His portion could have done with being at least another quarter in size. Very relaxed and professional staff. Downstairs was busy but we didnt wait excessively long for our orders.

28/08/2026: Food was really good, welcoming service.

06/09/2026: What a dissapointment! Ordered the fish and chips, and while the batter was light and crispy, the hake was mushy and tasteless. The chips were floury and dry inside and not crispy enough on the outside. The only saving grace was the small amount of salad on the side, which was fresh and dressed with a zingy mustard dressing. Service was polite and fast.Came half way around the world for this, and my local take away does a better job with better fish.

06/09/2026: The welcome was excellent, the waiters attentive and very kind. We ordered a box for two. The calamari tasted only of curry, the sauces were delicious, and the fries were raw. You could see them. We sent them back; even the second fries were raw in the center (because they have very large fries), really not very good. The place is nice and very clean, but very, very smelly. Our clothes were ready to be thrown away when we left.

16/08/2026: Awesome place! Finally had some really good food! there is a playground for the kids in the back that was nice. Really nice and clean baby changing area. Nice servers. Live music. Perfect experience!!!

I went with a friend to have a cocktail on the hotel terrace and I was surprised by the quality price, in addition to a quiet and very beautiful environment next to the river. I was attended by a very nice guy, I think his name was Vicente, thank you very much I'll be back for sure!

21/05/2026: One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at! Amazing concierge service, rooms, location, room service, breakfast, etc. We had a great time here and it was the perfect location for us to walk all of Limerick and learn the city. We loved our room and housekeeping did a fantastic job keeping it clean during our stay. We didn’t want to leave!

07/09/2026: Made to order two starters or a main (was going to have a starter, side, and desert later). When the bill came the soup was more expensive than what was written on the menu. Food was poor value for money ( 3 tiny croquettes for 16).

05/09/2026: An absolute delight! The food was amazing. Everything we ordered came with different breads and we needed them to soak up all the perfect sauces and flavors! Would recommend the gnocchi and foie gras!

20/08/2026: We stopped at Ann McDonald’s for breakfast on our way to Cork after reading some lovely reviews, and I’m so glad we decided to give it a try! The breakfast was cooked fresh and absolutely delicious, with lots of different options to choose from, including a vegetarian option for me and a whole pancake menu which the little ones loved. Anne was so lovely and accommodating, especially as my daughter has a very limited diet and would only eat chips. I explained this when we arrived and it was absolutely no problem at all. She was so understanding, and my daughter was very happy with her chips! Thank you, Anne, for such a lovely and welcoming visit. We’ll definitely call in again when we’re in the area!
