An Port Mór
Westport
11/08/2026: A Port Mor did not disappoint. We enjoyed the three-course dinner, chose different dishes for each course, and shared tastes. Hard to pick a favorite, but the pavlova was a standout. The carafe of house white wine was just right for two.
06/08/2026: Chef Mallon’s much revered expertise paired with a healthy dose of no-nonsense attitude makes for what may just be the finest dining experience in the west of Ireland

Everett's
Waterford
08/09/2026: The most equisite meal we have ever had. Everything perfection. Still in awe at the standard. We were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary and this was literally the perfect meal. Make it your mission to dine here.
05/09/2026: We went to celebrate a special occasion and the restaurant did not disappoint in any way! As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with sourdough and brown grain bread; they had a set menu that I highly recommend! Let's start with the starters: we chose the croquette with tomatoes (veg), I can't put it into words, creamy, flavorful, and comforting, wonderful 10/10. For the main course, we ordered the beef, which came at exactly the temperature we chose, and my husband was very happy with his choice. I asked for the vegetarian option, which wasn't on the menu; I asked the waiter, and that night we were served spinach tortellini with zucchini and shallots – an incredible mix of flavors! For dessert, I ordered a raspberry soufflé with pistachio ice cream, and my husband went for chocolate mousse. I think it's important to mention that the portions aren't absurdly large, but they are very filling! We ordered carrot sides, which are great for sharing. We couldn't finish everything, unfortunately, but it was very good. It was our first time there, and it was amazing. The wine list is very diverse and extremely affordable. I highly recommend going there!

Greens & Co
Galway
07/09/2026: Was looking forward to eating at this vegan restaurant but it was not worth it contrary to what the good reviews suggested. I ordered a curry noodle soup which arrived nearly cold. The cake was ok although quite dry and way to expensive at 7,50 or 8,50 a piece. The service was close to non-existant; one of the waitresses was extremly rude and made one feel very unwelcome. It literally felt like one eating in the restaurant, asking for a table to be seated or odering food via her was an inconvenience to her. Would not recommend eating here.
06/09/2026: The food was soo tasty. Huge selection of vegan desserts. The service was spot on

The Canvas Café
Kill
17/08/2026: My husband and son stop here often when they are visiting grandad. I came with them this time and everyone was super excited, because 'You really need to eat something here, it's delicious!'.
They were not wrong.
The food is fantastic and the place itself small, but wonderful. When we were on our way home my husband mentioned 'This is my favorite spot to take my dad for lunch or dinner' and I can see why. Funny thing, my Father in law said the same before we left, 'My favorite little fancy restaurant in the area, I love going here'. They sell local artists paintings and the food is presented beautifully. It's kind of like they are creating memories for people and they do it well ♥
I ordered the superfoods pizza with goats cheese, shaved roasted sweet potatoes, walnuts and a side order of sweet potato chips. It was very tasty, so I forgot to take photos of the inside of the place! Can't wait to go back!
Would 10/10 recommend.
16/08/2026: Great little cafe. The food is delicious, especially the pizzas 🍕

11/09/2026: Absolutely fantastic food. Very reasonably priced for Irish standards. The perfect ending to our Ring of Kerry tour.
The burgers and fries were delicious, and the choux pastry was also very tasty. We highly recommend it.
Very friendly service, authentic atmosphere.

Treacy's Bar & Restaurant
20/08/2026: I came by chance to this pub / restaurant and honestly, the food was worth every penny. The meat is exquisite, as well as the side (home made crispy onions, mushrooms and potato chips).
If you wanna have a good piece of beef, you are at the right place.
17/08/2026: We arrived genuinely excited. Beautiful thatched roof, gorgeous from the outside and given the overwhelmingly positive reviews, we were really looking forward to lunch.
We walked in to a “Please wait to be seated” sign, behind which were about five members of staff chatting (including two in white shirts, who I can only assume were supervisors or managers). Not one hello, welcome or acknowledgement. Eventually a woman with her back to us grabbed two menus and said she’d seat us. Strange start, but grand.
It was Bank Holiday Monday and having worked in hospitality for 10+ years, I completely understand everyone was probably exhausted after a busy weekend. Except… it wasn’t particularly busy. Plenty of empty tables, plenty of staff and nobody appeared under any pressure. The atmosphere wasn't stressed or overwhelmed. It was just strangely indifferent.
At one point another customer came in and didn’t walk directly to the “Please wait to be seated” sign. One of the staff in a white shirt joked to the others “I’ll be getting my steps in. Hope they don’t think I’m walking over to them.”
That probably sums up how uncomfortable the whole experience felt better than anything else.
Then the bruschetta arrived.
I genuinely couldn't believe how miserable it looked. I asked my partner whether I should send it back (ordinarily, I absolutely would have). But we'd already been made to feel so uncomfortable and so much like we were inconveniencing the staff simply by being there that neither of us wanted to create another interaction with them. So, in the very Irish tradition of avoiding a scene at all costs, we paid for it instead.
And that's probably the most disappointing part. Clearly decent food can leave this kitchen and, with thousands of predominantly positive reviews, obviously plenty of people have had a completely different experience. Ours just wasn't one of them.
When a restaurant takes pride in its food and its customers, you feel it. Staff check in, they ask how everything is. And if something poor does leave the kitchen (because bad days happen and mistakes happen) the floor staff are usually the ones who catch it or at least give you the opportunity to say something.
Nobody checked how our food was. Nobody asked if we needed anything.
The problem wasn't just a bad plate of food, the photo can speak for itself on that one. It was the complete lack of care around it. There seemed to be no standard of hospitality being set on the floor at all and the attitude towards customers felt, at times, genuinely disrespectful.
Bad food can leave a kitchen. That's an off day. Making customers feel like they'd rather pay for it than say anything is a hospitality problem.
This place missed the mark completely for us and I won't be returning.
Beautiful building. Unfortunately, on our visit, the hospitality stopped at the front door.

Hayfield Manor Hotel
Cork
29/07/2026: As soon as we drove onto the property, we were met with the lovely valets that handled our bags and asked questions to provide any assistance with our travels details and guidance on what to do in Cork. Once we entered the lobby, the staff was lovely and very helpful. Checking in was a breeze and you felt the staff was very attentive with providing information on our stay and details about where to find the restaurants and bars on the grounds. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The staff wrote us a note for our anniversary and provided little sweet treats, which was a lovely touch. The amenities in our room were excellent with a soaking tub and a nice and big walk-shower. The location of the Manor was central to the college and town. They do provide a car service and have a partnership with a local taxi company that was readily available to take into town. The atmosphere of the manor was incredible. You really felt like you were in the country side and heard very little noise from the surrounding area. With all the amenities, the service the staffed provided, and relaxing environment, I feel the value of staying here is well worth the price. This was our first time staying at Hayfield Manor and I will be booking again for a longer stay, next time. I highly recommend staying here for a couples retreat to take advantage of the spa or a nice family weekend to unwind.
24/07/2026: After staying at Hayfield Manor every other hotel stay will have so much to live up to. The grounds, restaurants, bars and rooms were absolutely beautiful. The pool, steam room and spa amenities were so beautiful and a great addition to the stay. The service was beyond any that we have ever experienced. Mary, Holly and all the staff were beyond helpful, kind and attentive to every detail. I will always remember our stay at the Manor and greatly appreciate all of the staff for their hospitality, attention to detail and kind gestures.

The Locke
Limerick
19/08/2026: A limerick classic with great music and Irish dancers. We went back a couple of times and nothing disappointed.
15/08/2026: The burgers are very good and the servers are very friendly. However, the wait is very long and the restaurant is extremely noisy, especially during live music. We left as soon as we finished our meals with headaches from the noise. Avoid going on Saturday nights for an indoor meal.

14/09/2026: Fantastic menu and execution! The lamb was the best I've had in Ireland and possibly anywhere. Beef carpaccio was great as were the desserts and cheese plate.
07/09/2026: We had a delicious meal here! It was our first night in Dingle and we didn’t have a reservation, but walked in and they were able to accommodate us with a nice table at the window. The food was excellent and our server was so sweet. I gave her a hug at the end of the dinner. Crab salad, pork loin and hake fish were outstanding. And the homemade bread with the rosemary 😋 We thought it was very reasonable for the big portions they served too.
