15/06/2026: I dunno the necessities to waitress come to your table all the time asking if you wanna food. Despite you are drinking and enjoying, makes no sense this hurry to make you ordering something. We were in a celebration to a friend that goes back to our home country and seems like no where in Dublin even port house is able to let people enjoy their moment. The food is quiet ok, but the food even the vegetarian or protein are full of tomato sauce and fat inside. Even small portions you feel nauseous.

04/06/2026: Excellent restaurant - the food was out of this world, best tapas I've had outside of Spain, really friendly staff, good service and a great atmosphere, it's so intimate with all the twinkly lights and candles. We had the most lovely evening, highly recommend.

03/01/2026: One of the best places in Cork for me to sit down and drink some beer and eat some food. Have many good memories here.

31/12/2025: Popped in to watch a match and had a great time! Pints flowing all night, perfect place to watch the game. Cillian in particular kept us well topped up in a friendly yet professional way! Cheers!

11/05/2026: Had our daughters First Holy Communion party in Toughers at the weekend. Great communication from Tara when booking and I didn’t have to worry about a thing on the day. Food was lovely and the service from all the staff was excellent. We had a lovely private area for the kids to play music and dance while the adults relaxed.

06/05/2026: Stopped in for a quick breakfast. Eggs were perfect and the service was great.

30/08/2025: Very traditional irish pub. Got a good Guiness for 6€. The atmosphere is good, but very local, hard to talk to people. A pub quiz was going on, very entertaining

31/01/2026: This is were all the cool kids go... of course I noticed it was the kids of the 90s. The best generation, But still cool nonetheless. A great bar with some great cool hide away tables. This allows for decent chats and socialising, not provided by Bridge St, you have to bring your own. Normally Irish bars have live bands, no shade as the kids say. But sometimes you want a bar with a great selection of drinks and to be able to speak to the people on your table. This is the place. Staff are friendly and intuitive, not leaving you thirsty. Also there is a great outdoor area which allows for eating. There is even a food truck that parks right up to the outside tables. So there isn't much of a walk for a take away pint and meal. Also if you prefer other takeaway places, they all say that you can eat their food there too. The outside place is sheltered, but I wouldn't like to test it during a downpour.

26/10/2025: They work hard in The Western Strand ~ We wern't guests in the hotel so we came in 3 minutes before close (8:30pm kitchen closed that Thursday) and there was no issue being seated and menued (shows great kitchen discipline, although try not to do what we did, spare the chef)! They do an open mic on Thursdays which sounded great and added fantastic atmosphere. The food was delicious and the waitress was delightfully friendly. The presentation of the food was tops. Very happy, will be returning for dinner again in the future.

06/08/2025: Stayed over last week for a few days, and I honestly think I couldn’t have stayed anywhere better in the EU for the same price. The room was basic and what you’d expect, the bed was very comfortable and the sower and toilet worked as they should. The coffee and tea facilities were great, and plenty of room to hang your clothes etc.for a single room it was excellent. The pub downstairs was excellent too for food and entertainment on most nights, location is the best in the town. Take it from me you’ll love your stay here, the owners and staff couldn’t do any more for you if they tried. So for the few moaners in the review section you really need to give your head a wobble. 20/05/2026: Food here is amazing, everything is so fresh! Staff are extremely accommodating and friendly! We've been as a family a few times now and will definitely be returning.

18/05/2026: We stayed here for the weekend. We had a disability room, which was fantastic. Huge room with plenty of space for wheelchair. Gorgeous decor, great bar and live music and the friendliest staff. Couldn't have been better. We're going back in November

13/05/2026: I have stayed at this hotel numerous times going back 7 years now. The rooms are really deteriorating. Air conditioning/heating in the rooms don't work. Wifi connection has been awful. I was completely unable to get any work done from my room.

08/04/2026: We had a delicious dinner here. Great variety on the reasonably priced menu plus daily specials.Trio of fish & fish pie both top class.Service has cheerful,able to advise on allergens and efficent.Recommended.

05/05/2026: Stopped in for lunch on a day trip, and very happy we did. The food was fantastic, and the young man at the bar was a doll. All of the walls are covered in history. Definitely stop in for a pint and check it out!
