11/03/2026: Great pub, excellent food & perfect service. Catered last minute for a larger group so thanks. Food was much better than expected, not pub grub at all! Very high standard of food & presentation. Reasonably priced too, however worth the extra if looking for a night out.

17/03/2026: This is a really nice pub, staff are always very friendly and helpful. The food is lovely and always well presented. Lovely Guinness as well. I would reccomend this bar if going through the village.

08/04/2026: While eating our meal yesterday evening which was Good Friday I witnessed a young girl walk through the downstairs restaurant into the kitchen area holding a small dog. When I mentioned this to my partner he said the girl was talking to the restaurant manager for a brief minute before bringing her dog through the restaurant and into to where the food comes from so we can only assume she is staff. Why is this allowed? Is this common practice at Maddens to allow animals into the kitchen area? This is absolutely disgusting and unsanitary!!! Be aware that I have emailed the food safety authority with the date and time of this incident and I hope that Maddens won't delete any footage as this needs to be addressed and dealt with asap!! The wait staff were lovely however we won't be returning, EDIT - I am editing my review as there has been a reply from the manager Oisin. It seems Oisin is outright lying as when we asked a staff member what was through that door we were told it was the coffee and kitchen area, this alongside the fact that food was going out from that area as we could see it directly from our table. There may well be an office there too but for you Oisin to not address the fact that you let someone you obviously know carry a dog through the restaurant while people were eating is very telling of your attention to cleanliness and defending that action as it was for "less than two minutes" is an absolutely disgusting reply and attitude!!!

21/04/2026: Great Wedding venue. We held our wedding here recently. Most guests travelled and stayed here. From the planning stage to check out Orla, Jennifer and the team were brilliant. We held a pre wedding dinner the night before. We had around 30 people. We had a lovely meal and beautiful room off the bar with great views. They could not have done any more for us. The day of the wedding checking with us, making sure everything was ready. Making sure we were ready.and not late ! Communication was great. And we were a hard crowd ! Loads of moving parts. I'm not kidding when I say they took the doors off for us. And the architraves were next on the list if they were needed. Nothing was too much to make our wedding perfect. Orla,Jennifer, Mykala and every one took it all in their stride. Food - delicious. We choose a different red wine from the wine list rather than the wedding wine list. And so many guests commented on how good it was. The rioja was a winner at our dinner! Any challenges they faced were easily overcome. Any last minute changes were taken in their stride and done without any fuss. Luckily we won't be getting married again! But we will come back at every single opportunity . Our guests will come back. They have patrons for life with all our families now. They made our family wedding into their family's wedding. Orla knows we will forever be grateful for what she did for us

18/08/2025: Amazing!!! We were here three evenings ensuite. And the best was the singer today (name??) Thanx for the Guinness. Espacially the two ladies behind the bar!! Incredible!! 14/06/2026: A long evening with live music, would love to do it again.

02/06/2026: We had a really positive experience at the Kerry Coast Hotel, and would definitely go back there for a stay. We only stayed one night, and got quite lucky as we had booked the stay for May holiday weekend, and as it turned out, there was a Folk Festival going on that weekend and there were live bands all over town but also at the pub of the hotel, which was lovely and loads of fun. We were completely shocked at how quiet it was in the rooms. The pub (and live music) was right next to the hotel with the rooms but we could barely hear anything when we went to the room, which was really lovely because we were quite tired after a long day of adventures in Kerry and the folk festival right after dinner. Dinner was nice and there were quite a few options. We ate in the pub and they even had a vegan option for me, which was wonderful and very handy, because we didn’t have to search the whole town to find something for me to enjoy as well. Same goes for breakfast. I had asked the day we arrived if there is a possibility for me to get a vegan breakfast in the morning and they accommodated me with no problem. We'd like to give a huge shoutout to Geraldine, who welcomed us and who made sure I was looked after when it came to having vegan food. She was absolutely brilliant and so sweet. She even remembered a brief conversation we had on a very busy night for her because of the festival, where I had told her that this trip was a surprise trip for my birthday, which was coming up on the Monday after the weekend. She surprised me after breakfast with a slice of cake and a candle in it, which was so unexpected because I had completely forgotten about our conversation about that. It made me so happy and was such a sweet gesture. She was a wonderful host and made us feel super welcome and looked after. The rooms were clean and the bed, covers, and pillows were super comfortable. We are looking forward to coming back, and have even recommended the place to family and friends.

09/03/2026: Good food and great craic at the bar. We were touring the Wild Atlantic Way and needed somewhere to stop for the night and grab a bite to eat. The Merry Monk was friendly, welcoming, and great value. A perfect spot if you’re passing through and looking for good food and a relaxed atmosphere.

05/10/2025: Where locals go for a meal, it can never be bad. All age groups are represented here: students or business people on their lunch break, seniors enjoying a late breakfast. The service is fast and friendly. The food selection is perfect for brunch or lunch. I had a toasted sandwich with a soup of the day, both very tasty.

12/06/2026: Its a simple accomodation but thats reflectes in the price . Very central . Rooms are clean and i had a perfect sleep . Abpve all staff is very friensly and helpfull . I came here with my bicycle and after asking where i could.park the bike safely they wven gave me the option of taking it intp my room . Also the adjacent bar serves very decent food at a reasonable price . Overall very pleasant experience to stay at the bailey .

We ordered: 🍅 Bruschetta 🍝 Baked Pasta (in tomato sauce) 🥣 Vegetable Soup 🍛 Vegetable Curry & Rice Every single item was absolutely delicious, freshly made, and served piping hot—which was an amazing bonus since it was raining heavily outside!
