12/02/2026: Great small, cute pub with a proper old‑school feel. They’re still doing €6 pints, and they pour them properly. Don’t be misguided by the photos online though. Those big, spacious rooms you might see are only for private events. The actual pub itself is tiny and cozy.

12/10/2025: Extremely Disappointing Stay – Not Worth the Price I stayed at Pure Magic Achill Island for 2 nights, and it was the worst accommodation experience I’ve ever had. We chose it based on the good online reviews and clean photos, and paid €270 just for the room. However, upon arrival, I was completely shocked. The room was not clean — there was hair all over the bed, and the bed linen clearly hadn’t been freshly changed. When I complained, I was offered another room with a double bed, single bed, and bunk beds for two of us and it was even worse. The room smelled like an old college hostel and had a tiny bathroom roughly partitioned with hardboard. When I asked for a refund to find another place, they refused, leaving me no choice but to stay in the first room. The shower water didn’t drain properly, the toilet wobbled when sitting on it, and even the towel was jammed into the sink. The whole building was old, dirty, and poorly maintained. Overall, it was a total nightmare. Definitely not worth the money and I do not recommend this place at all.

21/09/2025: Pure Magic is a place close to my heart. I’ve stayed here many times, and it never disappoints. Nestled at the foot of Slievemore Mountain, it’s perfect for a peaceful, tranquil break. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and easy-going. The food is excellent—highlights for me are the lasagne, which is a special, the warming seafood chowder, and the decadent white chocolate crème brûlée. Breakfast is just as good, with perfectly poached eggs and a great balance of healthy bites and hearty indulgence. Keel Beach is a short cycle or drive away, perfect for a morning dip in the Atlantic. From the property, you can also enjoy walks to an impressive megalithic site and the Deserted Famine Village—great hikes without being too strenuous. I can’t recommend this place enough.

02/08/2025: Five of us had breakfast here today. The food was lovely plus the staff were lovely and friendly. We had a dog with us and they gave him water and were very helpful. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Well done.

01/03/2026: I went to Riot with my boyfriend recently, and we had a very upsetting experience. We actually go there frequently, so this situation was even more surprising and disappointing for us. When we arrived, the security guard refused to let us in and said he didn’t know us. This didn’t make sense, as we are regular customers and have never had any issues before. Just a few seconds later, other people — white guys — were allowed to enter without any problem. It was very difficult not to feel that we were being treated differently. We don’t understand the reason for denying us entry, and the situation left us feeling uncomfortable, embarrassed, and unwelcome. It honestly made us question whether race played a role in what happened. We hope management takes this seriously and looks into the matter, because loyal customers should not be treated this way.

20/01/2026: One of the high points of our CIE tour. The singer was a gas. The food was top notch. We were 100% satisfied.

15/09/2025: We hosted a hen party here on Saturday for 21 ladies, and it could not have gone better! The team were incredibly accommodating – they allowed us to set up our own decorations and food, and were so helpful with everything from start to finish. We had corkage on some bottles of prosecco for a welcome drink, and the staff went above and beyond making sure everyone’s glasses were always topped up, even when we moved up to the top deck. As we essentially ran an open bar with drink tokens for guests, it was great to see how respectful and honest the staff were – they made everything so easy for us and didn’t take advantage in any way. Another lovely touch was being able to connect our phones via Bluetooth for music, which meant we could play our own playlist on deck and set the perfect atmosphere. The whole experience was honestly the highlight of the day, and all of our guests had an absolute ball. Thank you so much to everyone at the Dublin Canal Boat Restaurant for helping us create such a memorable start to our hen celebrations!

14/10/2025: Only went in because of the name and the Mrs Brown (TV Show) name link, but were we glad. Lovely neat little pub full of character and characters. Great staff, great pints, great prices, yep, great little pub. Go on, give it a try.

28/09/2025: Love this bar. great Guinness and lovely Atmosphere whether you are in a group or want to have a quiet pint while reading a paper.

26/07/2025: Nice little cafe / cake shop. We had a nice breakfast served with plenty of tea and a very delicious homemade brown bread. The service was very promt and friendly and we will be back again. Their fruit gur/ chester cake is to die for.
