19/12/2024: My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant for dinner last night, and unfortunately, it ended in food poisoning. We had read a review posted just a week prior from another customer who had the same experience, but decided to give it a try since there were many positive reviews as well. To start, the service was incredibly disappointing. We waited 25 minutes before anyone even came to take our order, and then another 40-50 minutes to receive our food. The restaurant wasn’t busy—there were only about four tables occupied—yet the staff seemed disorganized and indifferent. While the food itself tasted good, I ended up with food poisoning, including a high fever and vomiting, which completely ruined the experience. Given the poor service and the health issues, I can’t recommend this place.

23/01/2025: Today I visited on my lunch break and was greeted by the lovely Niamh. Being served by Niamh was a breath of fresh air on my lunch break and it was clear she took her job very seriously and professionally. Couldn’t have asked for a better server today. Thank you Niamh :-)

14/01/2025: A lovely spot for brunch. Definitely on the pricier side, but the quality reflects this well. The staff are attentive, but service could be a bit quicker.

23/12/2024: Best restaurant in town, by a mile. Batt Bash is such a nice man and his family are so friendly. Only use the best ingredients and really great cooks. If anyone ever asks for take away recommendations in Oldcastle, I always tell them to try Supreme Bites, their taste buds will thank them !! ❤️

10/09/2024: 0 rating .The owner should be Ashamed of himself refusing to allow Children in Was going in there with my partner for a quick drink while we had some time to kill had our daughter with us and owner just said no in very ignorant tone of voice Wonder does he realise children are human too and he was once a child himself and children are human beings too It's not first place at that side to do that Made up policy's as usual We been to lots of pubs/bars And they been extremely welcoming so shame on the black swan pub Want learn some manners for someone that is a so called publican Discrimination against kids is not acceptable in this day and age Take good look in mirror for yourself You ignorant man you can't just rewrite the law

16/01/2025: Nice coffee shop, great staff, good food and great atmosphere. Dog friendly too with lots of outdoor seating overlooking the river

28/12/2024: This little gem is outdoors in Fernhill park near Stepaside. It's parked beside the old house which hopefully will be restored before it falls down. We just had hot chocolate and coffees. Service was welcoming, polite, efficient. Lots of seating on well maintained picnic benches. Excellent set up for waste/recycling of cups etc. There is an added bonus of price reduction if you bring your own cup. Prices are very reasonable though. Lovely people!

26/01/2025: Cute little brunch spot - small, yet thoughtful menu with fab and freshly baked cakes on display. Great for a cozy brunch on the weekend! Not great for coffee (only French press coffee on the menu), but fabulous tea selection.

14/02/2025: It is expensive and of poor quality, the food and the live music stunned me, the sound of those old speakers is horrible.

31/01/2025: Lights are way too bright. Not comfortable at all. More like a canteen than a pub. food portions too small and overpriced. However staff are excellent .

30/12/2024: Excellent pub food, very good/friendly/efficient staff, salmon and creamed potatoes are to die for. 8of us ate there including 2 vegetarians, all had positive experience.

28/12/2024: Horrible local man sounds and looks like a traveler who dragged us to his scrap yard at the back of bungalow down the road trying to sell us stuff. All the bar knew him but I can't remember his name
