The best restaurants

02/02/2025: Have been going to il corvo for several years, have always loved everything there, however have really seen the standards of quality decline in my last few times visiting. Was there on Friday night with a couple of friends, I have spent the last two days in bed from food poisoning from the pasta I had. My friends had sent back there plates basically untouched as they were unhappy with the food and for the price it is just unacceptable. I will sadly not be returning after getting really sick from what I had ate has turned me off completely.

25/01/2025: Chicken pasta was acceptable, seafood pasta was not good empty mussels inside is not acceptable for restaurant. Very overpriced portions small, not recommend

27/12/2024: Trying to like this place as I like to support small businesses but the staff are so unappreciative of my business that I feel it’s all a bit negative when I walk away. No one smiles and barely a thanks. I was basically asked to go out in to the street when I waited for a coffee with my child on Christmas Eve. The girl tapped the front window and said “I’ll put your coffee here” with a glum face…basically get out to the street and wait with the others. I’ve hope for improvement each time but no.. such a pity. Coffee is good. Usually get a flat white. It is tiny though. Gone in a few sips. Salad is good, cakes are good but expensive.

24/12/2024: We had a lovely dinner on Saturday before we visited Bord Gais Theatre. Servers (Tamata & Alison) were very friendly. We had sharing platter for starters with wings, ribs, bread. The steak is really good value at €30 with chips, sauce and garlic butter. We would recommend a pint of their Hope Beer too.

01/01/2025: The most amazing coffee in youghal, staff are so nice and friendly, my dog loves it and drags me in there no matter what. So, from the owner to management and amazing staff I look forward to 2025 and the little beach across the street is ideal for some peace and quiet.

02/01/2025: Saw wild cod and chips on the menu. Got two pieces of defrosted breaded hybrid-fish pieces straight out of a cheap supermarket freezer. Naff.

27/01/2025: I am a regular customer, and this time I didn’t buy anything but needed to use their restroom. However, a new employee told me there wasn’t one—not that it was unavailable, but that it didn’t exist. What she didn’t know is that I’m a long-time customer and have used their restroom about twenty times before. I won’t be coming back again. I wish you enjoying your restroom on your own.

21/12/2024: This was hands down the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. My friends brought a cake to celebrate my birthday, but the manager wouldn’t let us cut it at the table. When we tried to enjoy it privately, after ordering desert, she rushed over to take the cake away, and in the process, she spilled our bottle of red wine over me. She didn’t apologise and just proceeded to lecture us. When we brought up that she needed to apologise for spilling the wine she tried to blame us saying “she wouldn’t have been at the table at all if we hadn’t been eating the cake” and took absolutely no responsibility. Her attitude was rude and completely unprofessional. After ordering three courses and buying three bottles of wine, I’m not sure what the problem was. We didn’t get so much as a discount on the bottle of wine she spilled. Separately, they do not provide tap water and make you buy water at 5€ a bottle which is a bit of a disgrace in my opinion. Honestly it is no wonder the restaurant was empty 4 days before Christmas. Avoid at all costs!!!

02/02/2025: My daughter has recently dropped phone in the gab between the wall and the sofa. We couldn't get it out and manager Oksana offered help by providing utensils that might help but nothing worked. I left my details and she let me know the next day that phone has been taken out and that we can collect it. Went overboard with helping out, that's the kind of service that's not seen often. Thank you for sorting us out!

31/01/2025: The service was very slow. I bought 2 boxes of chocolate. I had to wait 20 minutes for 2 boxes of 7 and 14 pieces of candy to be packed. It's too long!

20/07/2024: Myself and partner went for dinner Thursday night. Starters were lovely. Mains - I got the beef burger and my partner got the chicken burger. His chicken burger was noticeably “wet” juices dripping out of the burger, his plate was soaked. He felt something was off, took the bun off the burger and we both noticed how pink the chicken burger was. The server came over and noticed it for herself that the chicken was pink. She quickly took it away to show her manager. The manager came over and apologised asked if he would like something else, we said no. We quickly left as my partner did not feel right. He vomited that night and had awful cramps the following day. The manager did not charge us for the chicken burger but charged for the rest of the meal. I left half of my burger on the plate as I was turned off my food by it all. Really disappointed as I’ve heard good things about the place.
