The best restaurants

14/02/2026: Ridiculous carry on, I was constantly calling and asking for updates on my order, they kept brushing me off on the phone, the order was 1 hour late at this point so 1hr 30 mins overall. They ended up cancelling the order instead of trying to compensate for the order being late. Horrible customer service and I urge everyone to stay away from this unprofessional business..

05/01/2026: First time getting a take away from here and it was absolutely delicious.

02/01/2026: Extremely disappointed over the food in recent weeks, especially what I’ve been handed tonight. The last 4 times ordering from here my orders have been wrong, Tonight my Kebab meat was burnt in places no sauce and the wrap was falling apart from the other side it had a massive hole in it. The onion rings were so over done they crumbled in my hands. Things are not cheap anymore the food people buy shouldn’t be like this crap. Do Better

20/03/2026: I've been to all the Chinese takeaways in Carlow and The Tiger is number one. New owner, better flavors. I recommend it.

30/03/2026: I also had a disappointing experience at this location. It was just before 5pm and I wanted to buy a couple of cold drinks (a can of Coke and a bottle of lemonade), but the staff member told me the till was closing and refused to serve me. However, I stayed nearby with my friends for a while and noticed that the shop was still open. In fact, just a few minutes later, I saw another customer being served and buying a bottle of water. This felt confusing and unfair, as I was turned away even though the shop was clearly still operating. I hope the management can address this inconsistency in service.

Where did they get the staff from not welcoming people ignorance I would describe they don't like kids and definitely do not like dublin people would not recommend this place to anyone. I can see why no one is going in there anymoreas for the toilet it really needs to be revamped disgusting rusty 0 stars from me

26/11/2025: My fav fav hot chocolate in the town with jumbo quantity 🤩 I tried their cookie hot choc, and it was just yum tum! Must must have it, they also have bailey hot choc available and believe me you should try out that one as well😋

08/11/2025: Coffee has deteriorated significantly in the last 12 months from a nice rich mellow consistency to a bitter, burned brew. The ambience also needs a freshen!

25/06/2026: It took me an hour to wait for my food order. I had follow up several times. Very disappointed with the service

30/04/2026: 2026 April. A mixed experience in this bar restaurant. At first, the staff tried to put us in the back area. But then left us there for a long time and forgot take any order. So we asked to be moved. We had one of the Thai curry and one of the crispy chicken burger. The curry was six out of ten, and the burger was about three out of ten. The burger was lukewarm and clearly microwaved. It was a very quiet night in there, and there were a lot of staff, but they were not really very attentive to what people wanted. Lots of people were sitting around, waiting to be attended to. Very overpriced for the quality of the food and service.

30/05/2026: I live locally and have only rarely used it as the food can be very ordinary. Actually stopped going there after two successive visits with really poor portions of chips. Thought that the first time was just an unfortunate mistake. Tried it again last night. First time in a while. Chips were grand, portion size still a bit scabby but not as bad. Fresh cod was poor, battered ok but fish inside was dry and tasteless. Also got onion rings. Oh my God, they have to be the worst thing I have ever eaten from a chipper. Basically a thick wedge of an onion battered, disgusting. Why mess with the easiest, highest profit food going? Break up the onion, batter them and fry, like a normal chipper! Only positive I'd say is the staff, they are friendly and the wait wasn't too bad for a Friday evening. I won't be rushing back.

17/05/2026: Staff are lovely. Didn’t get some of my food that I paid for. Onion rings very disappointing. Chicken and donor meat in kebabs was tiny couldn’t taste very much of the flavour. Very disappointing.

07/05/2026: Have been visiting this cafe for years and really enjoy the food here particularly the pastries which are always so lovely and fresh unlike other establishments particularly during weekend periods. The service has always been good and there is a guy there with moustache who is often the first point of contact at the till land he is so avcommodating and just generally very welcoming and pleasant. Yes, it can be a little packedand noisy but in my opinion this adds to the overall atmosphere.

21/02/2026: Had a prior not so great experience here so said we'd try again and hoped it would be better. However we were left disappointed once again. The farmhouse sandwich on sourdough I asked for turned out to be a white bread sandwich toasted and dripping wet in relish and mustard with one slice of ham and cheese. For the price we paid there was no value or good food quality on offer in my opinion. The staff were pleasant however they were under a lot of pressure and the atmosphere was chaotic and loud.

21/04/2026: Food and service were nice. Ambience was not that great. Doesn’t feel present. But the staff were very friendly.

06/02/2026: Looking at the menu on the Sheela Palace website it indicated dosas. This is an error, they do not serve dosas. Apparently that's done at their Dublin takeaway branch. They should fix their site. Selecting the Waterford restaurant on the website and then clicking on the online ordering option, Dosas are clearly listed at the bottom. First impressions on entering were not great. The interior is drab, confused and dated. A mix of colours and decorative elements that just don't make sense. The exception is the 2 large posters on one side of the reestaurant, which are lovely. I thought, given the greatly positive reviews the food must be amazing. Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience, at least with the mains. The Paneer tikka we had as a starter was ok. Can't say the same for the rest. We ordered the Vegetarian Biryani and Shahi paneer. Had a taste of the latter and it wasn't great at all. Practically inedible tbh. The Biryani looked good though and you can see effort had been made in its preparation with lots of vegetables and nuts and other things. The taste though was again strange. I've never had a sweet Biryani. They had generously added raisins to the rice. Also, the rice was clumpy which is just a very basic thing to get wrong. On crushing the clumps, white rice was exposed. This was not a Biryani dish at all but rather a vegetarian pulau dish with raisins. Kinda like a Kashmiri pulao, but not quite. It seemed like biryani spices had been lightly mixed into the preparation to give it that distinct aroma. The flavour was lacking however. The front-of-house staff were nice. Though one lady asked every customer what specific cutlery they wanted before setting the table. Nothing wrong with that mind you, but just added to the strangeness of the experience. I suspect the non-vegetarian fare is better given the previous positive reviews from other diners but if you're a Vegetarian I would not recommend this place.

22/05/2026: DO NOT STAY HERE!!! - it wasn't worth €1 - the TV didn't work, the sink stopper was blocked so I had to clean my teeth in the toilet, the window was facing a wall and couldn't be opened, the door also didn't open, maintenance had to fix it & I had to be let out - we were travelling for work on a wednesday night and the disco went on below until 4am - it was unhygienic & unsafe. The rooms they advertise are from a different hotel - the rooms in the hotel are grubby & outdated

15/05/2026: Excellent experience at the drive through today. Very friendly and polite staff, food arrived quickly, warm and prepared to McDonald’s usual standards.

07/11/2025: I have been coming here since 2004. Yes its changed ownership etc but I have to say that you're recognised, if you've a problem, they respond and try rectify it. Yeah, we all have good food , bad food but they respect you, listen to you, try to rectify the problem. That's,the counterstaff, as they're the only people you see. I had an issue and male counterstaff membe, in the past solved issue for me, sorted it out, to my benefit and probably everyone else. Another issue tonight and working together we worked it out. This guy, is amazing. We butted heads but we both worked it out. That guy is worth every penny he gets. Minimum wage. Front line staff make you the money. Reward them, let them share in the profits too. Minimum wage should be the basic, but if they drum up business, let them share in the profits too. Everyone like being at home with family but unfortunately for that to happen, shift workers need to keep company-Country going. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at all shops, takeaways, for the jobs they do.
