30/05/2025: The fun began with their self-serve machine, which decided twice that it simply could not be bothered. I stood there like a chimp with an iPad, repeatedly stabbing the frozen screen while a queue formed behind me, full of people wondering whether they too would live long enough to place an order. Eventually, after what felt like a lifetime, the order limped through the system. Fifteen minutes later my number was finally called, but not before they managed to turn what should have been a simple handover into a full-blown drinks disaster. My Coke was launched across the counter like a low-budget stunt scene, showering three innocent customers. Unsurprisingly, this did not go down well. And then the burger arrived. Technically, it was a double patty burger. In reality, it was a cheap, greasy, structural catastrophe. The patties themselves looked exhausted — thin, grey, oily, and completely devoid of any real flavour. The cheese had melted into limp flaps, drooping sadly over the sides like melted plastic. And as if to ensure the whole thing was completely impossible to eat, they had crammed in a ridiculous slab of lettuce the size of a small parasol. It stuck out like the sails of a boat, making any attempt to pick it up result in an immediate collapse of the entire construction. This was not one of those indulgent, guilty pleasure burgers you rave about to your friends. It was a cheap, greasy mess you finish only because you feel too ashamed to throw it away. Gourmet Burger Kitchen needs to sort its technology, train its staff not to spill drinks on customers, and — most importantly — go back to sourcing proper burger meat. Because at the moment, it is a very long way from gourmet.

06/04/2025: I recently visited this place, and I absolutely regret it. First off, the experience was a total scam. I paid 6 euros for what was supposedly a "large" bag of chips, but when it arrived, it was shockingly small—certainly not anywhere near the size I was expecting. The portion was so tiny that it didn't even fill me up, leaving me feeling more disappointed and hungry than before. I understand pricing can vary, but this is beyond unreasonable. For 6 euros, I was expecting a decent-sized snack, not something that could barely be considered a snack at all. The whole situation felt like a classic bait-and-switch—advertised as a large serving, but delivered as a measly, overpriced portion. It's honestly insulting to pay that much for something so underwhelming. To make matters worse, the taste didn't do much to redeem the experience. It wasn't anything special, and for the price, it should have been. It's evident this place is more focused on trying to rip off customers than actually providing good food or decent value. I wouldn't recommend coming here to anyone. Save your money and avoid the disappointment. There are far better places where you can get more for your money. This place is a scam, plain and simple. Don’t waste your time or money.

03/06/2025: 9 euro for a take-away pre-made, petrol station-tier ham sandwich? Have you guys lost your minds? Extortion in it's purest form. Top tip to all tourists/hikers: Be sure to bring your own packed lunch and avoid being exploited by this place.

09/05/2025: Very well located for a surrounding visit especially for the local historical attraction or the walk in the valley between the 2 lakes. For the rest, it could be done a little better... dated decor, limited menu and passable cuisine. Could do better… let’s go, we believe it!!!

03/04/2025: Ordered a 10 inch burrito from the meal deal and this is the sad excuse of a burrito I received… more like 10 centimetres. Not to mention the teaspoon of rice and chicken. Half of it was pure tortilla, absolute joke.

26/02/2025: Takeaway | €20–30 I ordered a medium “toasted” burrito for nearly €14, in the description it says that it’s made with a 12inch tortilla. As you can see in the picture, the burrito doesn’t seem toasted and it’s literally smaller than my hand. Very dissapointed, I'm convinced they gave me the small portion instead of the medium.

11/03/2025: Appalling treatment of customers, my Mum was served a pastry she did not order, and subsequently told by a server called Finnola she could not get the correct pastry due to ‘health and safety reasons’. She then proceeded to debate what my Mum ordered. Rude, unprofessional and disrespectful service from this particular server, who also visibly treated other severs with disrespect. Food was unremarkable. Avoid this place.

18/01/2025: I have to say the way I was treated here was shocking. I would urge people not to spend a dime here . I was in a rush and I seen pancake advertised for 3.50 as I approached the till I was offered by a staff memeber a number of different toppings . I picked banana and maple syrup. I got to the till only a few seconds later . I was given a different price of 7.50 . I explained it is advertised as 3.50 and I was offered toppings and asked why it was 7.50 as it was a single pancake too . She said it was an additional 4 euro to add banana to the pancake… I said I won’t have the banana as It didn’t advertise this . The staff memeber was so rude and told me it was already made try to pressure me into buying it . I said I’m sorry but that’s not what it says on the board nor was I told this before ordering . She then said she would have to throw the banana in the bin and can we meet in the middle . I agreeed as I thought it was resolved and I paid 4.50 . I joke you not they gave me the pancake with no banana . They put it in the fridge and try to charge me for something I disnd get. I was not going to be treated this way and asked to speak with the lady again . She rudely gave me back the additional money she tried to rob from me over a silly banana . I am also 6 months pregnant and I have never experienced such horrible treatment from a cafe or restaurant, it was unbelievable . I have never ever heard the likes of it . Avoid this place at all costs .

08/03/2025: UCD walkway coffe shop.Extremely rude female member of staff working at the till. She mixed up my order and then very aggressively accused me of lying multiple times. She stood there staring and shaking her head at me while I was waiting for what I actually ordered. And by the way my order wasn’t something exotic which is easy to mix up, it was an americano… Not the first time I’ve had a problem with her either.

02/07/2025: As usually kids wanted have a happy meal especially when the popular you is in the box , so I will make a standard review as I can , I fly all around the world and without much time having this habit to eat occasionally, what I can say that here is not the best example , so the oil where they do fries is very old because it’s terrible , the taste is not potato it’s old and bad , the only stuff and you actually can eat is new burger arch , and a coffee it’s not very good but you still can drink it , eat inside no napkins where possible to get and service officiant from till didn’t give any , and I didn’t make any picture to not spoil appetite but this place is not clean , not at all especially the bathroom , irony that they lock it on password but it’s still very , very , very dirty …so please add there some stuff because the location is great but obviously the place not running at level that it’s need to be , I just think that maybe should read what customers write here as the are many not good things …and on optimistic note , If you ever find yourself lost in Dublin, just follow the scent of chips and the sound of teenagers arguing over who ordered the last McFlurry. The local McDonald's is less of a fast-food joint and more of a cultural hub — part café, part youth centre, part accidental tourist attraction. You haven’t truly experienced Dublin until you’ve queued behind a lad ordering 20 chicken nuggets while giving life advice to the staff. It’s the only place where your Big Mac comes with a side of banter and a story you didn’t ask for — but you'll definitely remember.

03/06/2025: I've been in a lot of McDonalds over the country, from ones in the Northside to Southside. Somehow this one is one of most offensive. Somehow they were out of soft drinks... all of them, which is a pretty big nail in the coffin but the store was also not clean. Usually McDonalds are cleaned very well but not this branch it seems. This one has food all over the floor, almost every table had something under it, some tables had stuff on them. Seemed very understaffed, so comparing the service to other McDonalds I frequent, this one obviously isn't good, but passable at least. Despite a few people in line the food didn't take that long to be served, and wasn't all that bad, I have had worse. Food was warm but not too hot, and was cooked well. All in all rather disappointed by what Blackrock's McDonalds had to offer.
