22/09/2026: Everything was fabulous! Excellent food and good service. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. We tried the duck and chorizo salad, seafood chowder, goat cheese and onion, fish and chips, and leg of lamb. Every dish was prepared to perfection and presented beautifully. We will be back again the next time we have something to celebrate.

14/09/2026: Very disappointing experience in the Oak Room restaurant in Cavan town recently. No consideration for a person with intellectual disability. Shame on the Oak Room Restaurant in Cavan town. Our family were celebrating our brother’s 50th birthday there. We were a party of 12 including my sister with intellectual disability. The Oak Room have a policy, very understandably, about customers bringing celebratory cakes into the restaurant. Simply put, if people eat cake they are unlikely to have dessert, so you can’t eat cake in the restaurant. Very understandable. However my sister with intellectual disability does not understand policies and did not understand why she couldn’t have cake and she really likes cake. I spoke to the manager of the Oak Room on the night and explained the problem we were having and that my sister was upset. I also said that it was just one person in our group of 12 and at least half of us were considering dessert. I was met with not just a ‘No’ but with a stony cold ‘No’, no understanding, no exceptions under any circumstances! Meanwhile at the table, my brother took a big spoon, dug into the cake and planted some cake on my sister’s plate! Happy sister. Getting nowhere with the manager, I returned to the table. Nobody ordered dessert and we asked for the bill. Outcome for the restaurant: 11 very disappointed customers; no desserts ordered; a bad review that will be retold over and over again. Shame on you Oak Room Restaurant in Cavan.

10/10/2026: We had a brilliant evening here for my dad’s 80th birthday. The staff made our night - they went above and beyond with decorations and the service was warm, welcoming and really attentive. The food was also of an incredibly high standard - especially the seafood specials (the sea trout and sea bass were particular highlights!). We’ll definitely return!

16/07/2026: Did not eat but beautiful pub would highly recommend, great location just before the madness of the city on Baggot street junction before the bridge. They have tall tables, regular tables, booths and an outdoor smoking area upstairs. Really friendly manager/owner/doorman,barmen they have very respectful and professional staff who really know their locals but are also very friendly to strangers 🥰Has a charming lil piece of history for any one who's interested, the have created a Brendan Behan snug/corner where you can sit & enjoy a drink where he used to💚🤍🧡💚🤍🧡*I would say very family friendly but maybe not on big match days😃

13/10/2026: So my Canadian friends and I popped in on our way to Cork for a quick pint. We had a delightful time getting a few stouts into us after a long day of walking. We made friends with the locals and eventually struck up a conversation with a guy the locals called "Oh, dat C**t." I offered to buy him a beer and before I could, he stumbled off on another direction. The next thing I saw was him downing an entire glass of red wine he had picked up off of a table. Feckin Legend.

25/10/2026: I had dinner at this for my birthday - it was overall a very disappointing experience. The food was just not good and the service was very weird. I feel like they are just trying to lure people in with the “Michelin” mention. They are much better spots in Dublin - this is not a good choice. I usually don’t leave negative reviews - I know it’s tough to run a restaurant - but this felt like a bad tourist trap wrapped in a Michelin bow.

25/10/2026: Got the famine soup and kidney pie. Very expensive for.. not much food. And the food was ok, not great.

09/10/2026: Food was really good - dinner, dessert was okay. Place is lovely and cosy, noise level was a lot. My ears were ringing after, but was a Friday night. So I would go back and try the Sunday roast! Our waitress was super lovely!
