14/06/2026: I thought that good breakfasts were a thing of the past. Not in Matt the Tresher. Was there this morning, got a very generous full Irish that I couldn't even finish. Might be the first time ever. Very generous portions, top grade ingredients, and a lovely relaxing atmosphere. Will be back for sure

14/06/2026: The service and staff were great. Look of the restaurant is great. The menu is limited ie there was only 3 choices of starter and main - given the limited choice its importnant that what is offered is cooked to your liking. I cannot eat rare meat - 2 at the table asked that the dish be cooked more - we were told that this is the way the chef likes to cook - food was taken back, a few minutes later was returned with no difference made. We left the food uneaten. It is incredible to think that one can order food - but the chefs stance means that you cannot eat it - unfortunately none at our table will be going back - anyone with a particular requirement for how their food is cooked should not either. I 99% of the time give positive reviews - this is an exception.

26/05/2026: The drinks are great and great craic at night. However, my husband and I stopped here for dinner one night when looking for seafood and couldn’t get in to the upscale seafood place nearby. 45 minute wait for 2 people at 7:30pm on a Monday-would highly recommended the salted caramel espresso martini-amazing! We ordered the seafood platter and scallops. The oysters had pieces of shell in them and tasted of pure salt water-I love oysters but these were just not that great. The scallops were slightly overcooked as well. I would avoid this place for seafood and stick with drinks and possibly traditional food only.

26/05/2026: Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were told there would be a 30-minute wait, but we were seated within 10 minutes, which was great. We then requested a table closer to the band and were told we could sit at a nearby table for four. However, less than five minutes later, another couple was seated there instead. Naturally, it made me wonder if the color of my skin played a role. Sometimes it’s the small things that can make or break a restaurant experience. This was our first restaurant here, and I’m sure there are better places with friendlier service. Being handed vegetable stew in a to-go box to eat felt inconsiderate and unwelcoming. I’m from Texas — we simply don’t treat people like that. See pic below We had oysters, which were delicious of course being an American from Texas. We are so used to our crackers, and apparently they don’t know what that is. She had no idea what I was talking about. However, I should be grateful that they had Tabasco sauce.

25/02/2026: What a pub ! The keg under the bar, the Stout is cream, Mick himself is a gentleman, the epitome of hospitality, brings out snacks for the customers, makes welcome and warm conversation. A joy to visit, I shall return !

28/05/2026: When you need a coffee or some sustainance after negotiating the picturesque meandering narrow roadways around the Doolough Valley, drop off at Louisburgh 74 for a taste of the local fare. Great to see young Irish people employed locally. A family run buisness ably supervised by a very elegant granny who saw to everyone's needs while offering a very welcoming atmosphere.

17/05/2026: We had an amazing experience here! We spent 3 nights at Ballymaloe and loved every minute. It is an absolutely stunning hotel in the peaceful Irish countryside. The room was clean, beautifully decorated, had heated floors and a heated towel rack, and the comfiest bed! Our room even had a small patio overlooking the gardens. Service was great as well. The morning breakfast was absolutely delicious and the afternoon tea and cake was a nice way to spend an afternoon. We had the 5 course dinner on property one night- which was also delicious. The employees are all so kind and helpful. 10/10 would recommend Ballymaloe to anyone! And would love to come back one day!

15/05/2026: We had dinner at this wonderful place! First of all, congratulations for the kindness and friendliness of all the staff (especially the waitress, who spoke Italian and "pampered" us throughout the evening, even giving me a gift of a whiskey I really enjoyed), and above all, congratulations for the excellent cuisine: exceptional dishes, the fish soup was FABULOUS! A great discovery: highly recommended!! Thanks again to the staff and the waitress!! Congratulations

26/04/2026: Mid afternoon Sunday 26th April 2026 we ordered a pint of Guinness and a pint of Heineken...half way through the Guinness been pulled a fly landed on top of the pint ,then the barman tipped the fly into the sink and continues to pull the pint. ...we couldn't believe what we had seen but we said nothing...the pint of Guinness was given to us with nothing said...my Heineken was terrible with a bitter taste...we had been to Kehoes and Grogans earlier and the Heineken was just great....we mentioned this to the barman as we left and he replied with a smart remark....terrible beer and a terrible attitude from the barman...steer clear of this place, they serve slop and beer with flies in it...appalling attitude to customers.....

24/04/2026: I had lunch there, nice relaxed and quiet environment at that time. Good was good value and service good too.

19/05/2026: Our experience was fantastic. Sarah looked after us and made our evening a really lovely one. The service was quick, the atmosphere felt relaxing yet elevated, and the portions were very generous. The food was delicious, and the chef was incredibly accommodating, kindly adjusting the seafood linguine for me by adding more prawns instead of clams. It was such a thoughtful touch. Dining here feels like being transported to a chic restaurant experience right in Gort. Easily the best restaurant in town.
