The best restaurants

21/08/2025: Tips & Improvements A very small café that offers a wide range of food and drinks despite its limited space (approx. 8 square meters of seating area?). We like the concept and the environmental awareness. Badger and Dodo's coffee is really delicious :-) Very friendly staff. Improvements The following point is certainly debatable. But €3.50 for a slice of banana bread, even if it was thickly sliced, is simply too much for us as tourists. Why not reduce the price a bit and sell more? We luckily found you on Google during a break and then went into the shop. We had passed by the shop several times before. Idea: The second sign in front of the shop advertising café and snacks was closed for us ;-) Use the window for further information or a printout/sign of a Google review. That works ;-) It would be great to know the story behind your shop. Perhaps place this in the shop? You could further differentiate yourself from others with a different exterior wall color/signs. Especially with the one in comparison. Much higher quality food compared to other restaurants! If we're ever in the area or in Ireland again, we'll stop by again :-) Please leave me a heart :-)

25/07/2025: Would definitely put this as the top place in Tralee for any planned parties or a bit! Had day 2 of the wedding there and Neil & the lads looked after us excellently!! They had us hooked from the minute we went in the door lastbyear to scope out venues for Day 2. Great areas in McCaffreys and the option to spread out to the yard bar or Sean Ogs is fantastic too. Neil is some operator to manage the lot but every one at the bar is tuned in yo be fair

26/09/2025: Absolutely amazing experience! The ambience is beautiful and the food was delicious. And to make the entire evening extra special, the owner offers Palestine cola and chocolate to help raise money and awareness for Gaza. Just look for the huge Palestinian flag flying high and proud in the front of the building! Amazing amazing night, thank you for all you do and for the most delicious meals around.

19/10/2025: Great Service and price. Vegetarian, vegan and glutenfree friendly. Would recommend if you are looking for an affordable lunch or breakfast menu.

04/10/2025: Great place for some good light lunch bites, friendly staff, fairly cheap, buzzing atmosphere, food was delicious and quite varied in the range of menu items. I'd definitely recommend a trip in here if you fancy a coffee and a chat or a light bite. I'll be returning.

02/12/2025: I’m a wedding DJ and get to play in Ballyseede Castle quite regularly. Mary and Paul are A class wedding coordinators and things always run very smoothly on the day. There is always a great atmosphere around the venue and the staff here are very sociable with guests.

02/12/2025: After viewing a few venues before, we knew from the moment we arrived at Ballyseede Castle that this was where we wanted to get married. The venue is absolutely stunning, but what truly made it exceptional was the staff. From our first tour to planning the final details, they were incredible. The bridal suite where we got ready was massive and beautiful, which made the morning feel so relaxed and special. The Belfry, where we had our ceremony, was also amazing and created the perfect setting. They made sure both we and our guests were having an amazing time, and the entire day ran like clockwork. They worked with all our vendors so we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Many of our guests also told us it was the best wedding dinner they had ever had. We can’t thank the team enough, and we will definitely be back for a visit in the future. To anyone considering booking Ballyseede, you won’t regret it.

11/06/2026: Will never eat here again..I nearly threw up when i read the health officer report its a disgrace how you got away with it for so long...omg june 2026 and this pub closed again for been filthy that's the second time its been closed for rat and mice dropping...please do not eat in this pub..you will get food poisoning

10/06/2026: Lovely pub, vey cosy and lot of charm. It's just a shame it's focused a lot on food, as the food leaves a lot to be desired. Quite bland and meh overall. Good staff and solid Guinness. Could easily be a 5/5 if the food was worth returning for. It's a solid pub food aside.

02/05/2026: Appalling!!! If I could give zero stars I would. Food was absolutely atrocious we didn’t eat any of it and when we asked for a refund (we were happy to pay for drinks) the lady didn’t answer us and just walked away!! Very very rude and unhelpful staff especially a lady by the name of “candy” if she even gave us her correct name had a terrible attitude made us feel very uncomfortable. We left the restaurant still hungry and upset.

13/05/2026: I ordered the Mexican Chicken Fillet (Cheese Double) and it was one of the best burgers I ever had, so fresh and delicious 🤩. The service was fast and nice. Highly recommend.

29/05/2026: We visited the gardens are they are wonderful lush tree ferns and tetrapanax and other exotics I should imagine kids love it as there are dinosaurs carved out of old tree stumps great fun !

23/05/2026: Stopped in to see the gardens and have lunch. Gardens are absolutely beautiful. The Thai food was very tasty. We had several things and all were very good.

30/04/2026: This was our first stop after dropping off our luggage at our hotel after an overnight flight from Canada. We had a delicious brunch of various savoury and sweet crepes from courteous and quick staff. I would definitely recommend. They have seating inside and a pation in warmer weather.

20/04/2026: It’s one thing pay a tip when it’s deserved but to trick people at the pay counter with a contact list … tap it thinking you’re paying the bill & it’s just a tip machine. The guy saying oh thanks with a smirk on his face like he got over on me! Plus the coffee wasn’t even warm enough! Way too expensive for what it was!! You’re better off going to Butlers next door. No thanks. Never again

24/02/2026: Absolutely brilliant spot for lunch/coffee and bring home your dinner too with their full range of homemade bakes - quiche, scones, tarts, potatoe bread, the list is endless. High quality dine in or take away. The standard of yhe food is wholesome healthy tasty goodness! The staff are attentive and excellent! Its a must if in Castlerea!
