27/08/2026: Had lamb shank during a quiet weekday dinner. Was the best lamb shank I've ever had! Waiter (Phillip) was very considerate and accommodating; as was the chef. Lovely little street bistro with some cool pictures decorating the walls. Next time I'm back in Athlone, I'll bring my family. Keep up the great work! 👏👏

20/08/2026: Id definitely recommend. Personally can't remember last time we had as good Chinese as we did last night. All the food is nice and fresh. Their shredded chicken is soft and not dry and hard like in most places and chips are leaving you wanting more. Their black pepper sauce with prawns was the best one I had in years. Everyone in the restaurant are super nice as well. Definitely be ordering again as it reasonably priced and very good quality.

28/07/2026: Parents always order from here. Locally known as Joe's! Joe and Amanda are lovely, the food is never less than a 10/10 really cannot wait to see the new premises when it opens. A gem in the town.

13/08/2026: It was great that the kitchen here stayed open later than most other restaurants in town. That meant we didn't have to go to a pizza place. Genting's offers the overwhelming variety of dishes typical of Asian restaurants. Something new for us continental Europeans: side dishes (rice, noodles, etc.) were charged extra. The main thing was that the food arrived incredibly quickly and was delicious. We highly recommend this place.

14/08/2026: Love this cafe. The sandwiches are always so fresh and reasonably priced. The bakery has lovely treats with a really homemade feel. So blessed to have such a wonderful bakery in Mallow, great to see so many local people shopping in it.

29/08/2026: My friend and I stopped by after a long, cold trip from Slieve League and were greeted by the lovely owner. She and her husband offered us soup to warm up — it was the best soup I’ve ever had, we felt so much better after. We ordered the duck wrap and the Chinese dry hotpot. The duck wrap was Beijing-style, so moist and soft, tasted totally authentic. The Chinese dry hotpot was a little too spicy for me, but the beef literally melted in my mouth — I don’t know how they got it that buttery. Absolute must-try. Second visit: We came back and tried the wonton soup, Japanese yakisoba, Malaysian nasi goreng, crispy chicken strips, and crispy wontons. I expected the wontons to be the American cream cheese version, but they’re actually authentic Chinese-style with shrimp and other ingredients inside — wrapper thin and crispy. The wonton soup tasted like real homecooking. I loved the nasi goreng so much — the rice doesn’t stick together and stays plump and moist, best fried rice technique I’ve had. My friend absolutely loved the yakisoba, it was really good, kids would love it too. The owner also gave us a steamed bun, a new product with high-quality bamboo shoot and pork filling. The outside was soft with a hint of sweetness like milk bread, and the filling blended together nicely. It’ll be a great light meal for a late night snack or breakfast. Highly recommend — great food, great people.

25/07/2026: I have frequented this place on many an occasion the last time I would have been here was after a funeral. Staff were bang on and so kind and courteous to all. The only down side I never found the spotted dog. Maybe next time. Just hope the chinese didnt get him.

17/03/2026: Booked this for the afters of my dads funeral. They were so obliging and kind. Even going so far as to ask if anyone coming would need gluten free sandwiches and provided them wrapped separately. Even though the amount of people who turned up was less than we expected we never felt pressured. Highly recommend.

18/07/2026: Great service for a birthday cake order

11/07/2026: The cake was beautiful and as advertised. The price was fair also. However we were handed a cake in 25 degree heat with no lid and told “store in a cold place.” The cake was for party in a restaurant 15 mins away and only when we insisted a lid should be provided was one fashioned out of plastic bags. The staff insisted they never preseng a cake with a lid. This is very bizarre. This really lets down your service. The cake tasted really good! Please invest in some lids and some proper cake boxes!
