The best restaurants

28/08/2026: ★★★★☆ 4/5 We visited for our 18th wedding anniversary and overall had a pleasant evening. The restaurant has a lot of character and a nice atmosphere, although the first thing that hits you when you walk through the door is a noticeable damp/musty smell. It’s a shame because the place itself has plenty of charm, and I imagine this is something that could be addressed without changing the character of the restaurant. The service, however, was excellent. Both ladies looking after us were lovely, particularly the younger waitress. I told her I knew absolutely nothing about wine and simply asked her to surprise me. She made the choice for me, brought it over and poured it — and it was a great choice. Friendly, relaxed and professional service throughout the evening. For starters we had the wings, which I had seen recommended by quite a few people. They were good and we enjoyed them. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the main course. I ordered the ribeye steak, well done. I understand perfectly well that ordering a steak well done means sacrificing some tenderness and juiciness, but this was genuinely tough to eat. Instead of enjoying a nice piece of meat, I felt like I was fighting with it on the plate. For the price, and particularly in a restaurant where steak is one of the main attractions, I expected a much better quality piece of beef. So overall, 4 stars from me. Lovely staff, good service, nice atmosphere and an enjoyable anniversary evening, but ultimately you go to a restaurant primarily for the food — and unfortunately the ribeye, which should have been the highlight of the meal, was the weakest part of the experience.

26/08/2026: Excellent atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations on wine pairings with the food without ever being intrusive or pushy. We had the Surf & Turf for Two the prawns and ribeye were absolutely delicious, and at €60 per couple, we thought it was great value. The background music was very cool too and really added to the atmosphere. Great food, great service and a lovely vibe. Highly recommend

13/09/2026: I’ve been here many times and the food is generally quite good. However, I’ve visited twice in the past month and unfortunately the service was poor on both occasions. It’s a shame, as this used to be a place I enjoyed coming back to.

10/09/2026: We dropped in late on Monday evening. Despite being a regular in Malahide I had never eaten here before but had heard a lot of good things about it. I was with my partner and another couple, Friends from the US whom I was excited to experience with. The food was very good and the decor fabulous but the biggest let down which we all commented on was the attitude of the staff. The restaurant was almost empty being a Monday night but it was almost as if the staff wanted us gone so they could go home. Altogether it was a very disappointing evening and one which will prevent me from going back. It isn't the atmosphere I expect, especially when spending that kind of money.

06/09/2026: Very good meal, we order 1 double hamburger, 1 triple hamburger, 1 truffle and Parmesan mayo fries, 1 Cajun fries and chicken tenders, for a total of 57,17€. Now, I do understand that obviously we eat at home, so we do have napkins, but after spending almost 60€ I was expecting some tissues at least. P.s. the type of meal we just ate it’s a “hand food”, so some wipes they would have been amazing, but how can I expect them if I can’t see even a piece of paper.

23/08/2026: I went to Marina Market Eco two days ago. I ordered cheese curry chips and the cheese smelled and tasted absolutely disgusting, like it was gone off.When I complained, the staff member was rude and replaced the food, but I was completely put off eating it and couldn’t finish it.I’m very disappointed that food like this was served, I want to raise awareness to the issue so other people don't have this awful experience

05/08/2026: The service was 4/5 👍. Unfortunately, twice we were served food that belonged to another table, but I understand that mistakes happen, and it was actually quite funny. Unfortunately, my burger was very dry and in places badly burnt, which made it taste bitter. Even worse, my daughter's chicken sandwich contained a bone! Thankfully, it didn't end with a broken tooth.

13/09/2026: Okay guys, this is for the Americans or those who are used to American food. I ordered the soup of the day, which happened to be mushroom and I got the wings. I say Americans because we are serious about our wings. So I’ll start with presentation. I ordered the SMALL portion with hot sauce. The hot sauce is buffalo for those of you who wonder! The wings are small. There’s no way about it, probably because they don’t inject their chickens with a bunch of steroids. The small portion came with 10 wings which is reasonable. I was expecting 5, so it’s a win in my book. The spice is mild to ME, but I’m from Texas. However the flavor IS THERE! The skin.. y’all, these are crispy! They can make a wing! However the mix of drums and flats is not even. I got mostly flats, which happens to be my favorite; so again a win for me!!! Now for the cons, like I’ve mention they are small, but they make up for it by giving you more wings that you thought you’d get! Also if you’re a ranch person… sorry but they don’t have it. Also, if you’re a blue cheese person… I don’t know what I got but, that wasn’t what I was hoping to get. However, the flavor and crisp of the wings made up for those small cons in my book. So if you’re wanting wings and can eat them without ranch, get them!!!! Also the price is the best price around town! WORTH IT, and it will satisfy that craving! This is for the girlies. The soup and small portion of the wings are a perfect girl size dinner! Their mushroom soup was good, however big taste of parsley, so if you hate parsley skip the mushroom soup. 09/08/2026: Took 15 minutes for our order to be taken. We got chicken wings for a starter this took 20 minutes to come out. They were only alright. We ordered a burger and vol u vant for the main which took 40 minutes to come out. The burger was fine however the vol u vant was 17.50 for a main course and 10.50 for a starter. With the main course vol u vant I got one vol u vant. I would assume two as it is a main course and I assume the starter also only comes with one vol u vant so essentially I paid €7 for a small thing of chips. Food was bland. The cherry on top was the €4 charge for two glasses of miwadi. This alone will make me not return. It is beyond cheeky when you’re spending enough for bland over priced food. I said it to the girl when we were paying with and she said “oh the payments already gone through”. As if she couldn’t have refunded it. Will not return!

07/05/2026: The Dunraven hotel is an incredibly beautiful old hotel located right on the main street in Adare. Really enjoyed the large bedroom and large bathroom. All the rooms are this way which makes it very easy to relax and unwind. I would have to say that our hotel room is easily twice the size of a typical European hotel room.

09/08/2026: We are regulars here and I have never had a bad thing to say. From the fresh pizzas to the very friendly staff it’s one of the best pizzas around! Highly recommend

03/08/2026: I don’t like to write negative reviews on a small business. I wanted to like it so much as it’s local and I’m sick of the big chains nearby and wanted a real proper fresh Italian pizza, but the food was comparable to wetherspoons pizza or something from the freezer with thin bases and not great flavours. I checked the pics on the reviews before ordering and thought this in advance, but still gave it a shot hoping for the best. I don’t like writing this but I’m being honest. Staff were all good from the minimal interaction my order necessitated. Some drinks missing from their ordering app which are present in store, so maybe an update needed there. I unfortunately will have to travel further for my pizzas it seems. Not here to tell anyone how to run their business but if I could suggest anything it’d be less thin bases.

09/08/2026: Wow, this place is gorgeous 😍. Family of 4, so different flavours. All outstanding, all so so tasty. We had strawberry, caramel, pretzel ice cream, chocolate and Dubai ice-cream. All gorgeous. This place is a gem. My daughters think it was one of the tastiest ice-creams they've ever tasted. The girls behind the counter were lovely, and very accommodating. Would highly recommend

15/08/2026: Went to the Féile Beag that occcurs annually in Hickeys - this time to see a new act - Soul Junctions - it’s without doubt the best music venue in the country in summer time - weather , atmosphere, people, overlook vibe and the music are unreal. It’s around €40 for a 3 day and night music festival with the level of talent you would expect in the Albert hall. Don’t miss out in 2027. Our friends stayed in Hayes hotel literally next door - best breakfast ever

24/05/2026: Omg. From the first minute we stepped inside we were treated like royalty. Nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation the food and the service was excellent. They grow and use their own products. Our bedroom was in the main house. Outstanding. Had a wee look around the grounds and the Spa, Wellness house. So tranquil and lovely. Will definitely be back and thank you for making our time there so special.
