The best restaurants

20/05/2026: Very bad, waiting to use the toilet 🚽, toilet locked, no sign of out of order, after 10 minutes of waiting, knocking on the door no sign of anyone there, a staff told me first that it was open and then when I said it was locked and he said oh it's in very bad condition so make up whatever that means, I don't know!

12/04/2026: Busy coffee house in Malahide Industrial Park. Slow service and quality of cakes quite low for the price paid. Coffee is of reasonable standard.

07/05/2026: We popped in for dinner and a pint. The decor, vibe, ambiance, and feel do not match the food or service. I ordered the "pie of the day" (chicken and bacon with a side of mashed potatoes and roasted veg) and my husband the burger. At €20 a plate I was expecting something other than what appeared to be boiled and thickly cut chicken breast with a few bit of bacon in an overly salted cream sauce along with run of the mill mashed potatoes with small chunks of veg that were pan fried. It almost smacked of what you could get as a pre-made meal at Tesco. The burger was equally disappointing. Dry, overcooked (was never asked how it should be prepared), and the toppings were underwhelming. The chips that came with the burger were OK, but unremarkable and should have been cooked for at least another minute or two to crisp up the outside. When I say the vibe didn't match the service, it boils down, quite a bit, to the service. The bartender would frequently mess with his hair showing his midriff. If you're going to present your establishment as a "cut above", I would expect a bit of decorum with proper attire. Our server (I didn't catch her name) had the personality of a rock and was cold (never mean, but definitely has the feeling she didn't really want to be there). Maybe it's because it's the "low season" being early May, but come on! For €52 for 2 meals and 2 pints, surely you can do better. Also, what is up with the weird thumping noise that was vibrating the ceiling lights? Super annoying.

24/04/2026: Great shop, wonderful selection of all things vegetarian. From wholefoods to spices and soaps. They've got the lot. If you're looking for it and it's veggie, they've most likely got it in stock.

17/04/2026: Had fun shopping at the different vendors here. Got a few used books, a necklace, edible Irish seaweed, ginger drink, and some eco-friendly cleaning products! They have a little bit of everything.

24/01/2026: First time eating here, nice staff, decent variety of food to choose from and priced as you would expect for pub grub, can recommend this place, will be nice to sit outside in the summer and watch the river 😀

06/05/2026: The pizzas here are usually fantastic, but they are just too expensive to justify regularly. As it stands, it’s a once every month or two kinda place, and even then I’m not sure it’s worth it for me versus cooking at home. Consistency can also be an issue here; when you’re paying 19 euro for a 10” pizza, it needs to be more than perfect. That aside, a good pizza here can be a real treat.

29/10/2025: Walked in then walked straight back out the second I walked in the whole pub including staff just stopped and looked at me as I was looking for a seat they were still looking at me It was strange it was like going into a house full of slack jaw yokels Terrible atmosphere They were shocked someone walked into the pub it was like I was trespassing

26/10/2025: Came to Gorey to see where my grandparents were born and used to live. Within minutes of being in here we were given details of the local historian and approached by locals who offered information they thought would be helpful. Absolutely fantastic. Lovely locals and a great pint. Will be going back before we go home.

02/02/2026: Our stay at Mount Juliet was made even more memorable by several meals at The Hound, and it truly did not disappoint. From appetizers to mains and desserts, every dish we had across multiple lunches and dinners was extremely good. We also enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea; even though the weather kept us from the outside terrace, the staff were so attentive and ensured we were perfectly taken care of indoors. It was a flawless dining experience that has me already looking forward to my next staycation!

01/01/2026: Food was tasty but very pricey for takeaway. There are less expensive places with equal quality in the area.2 mains with sides and 2 starters was almost €60.

17/05/2026: Went in here for a coffee while in the queue a man behind me was asked what he would like I was left standing there then some finely ask what they could get me when I gave my order waiting on ot other girl came and said how much I turned said I've paid already I'm waiting on my order left standing there 🙃 one the girls came with tea and coffee asked where would I like sit mind you only on my own so why would I what tea and coffee make it worse no manger around at all I really don't think the staff know what the are doing will never be going there again
