18/11/2024: Full Irish looked lovely in the picture online… maybe it’s because I’m English but they gave me one egg, one piece of bacon, cold beans, no mushrooms and no hash browns so I can’t recommend.

23/02/2025: I have been dying to try Greek food in Ireland after a long time of not having one since I left Cyprus. On Thursday I was excited to try the gyros in plate . I was there early about an hour waited for them to open at 12 . When it was finally opened they were not even ready. I placed my order and waited for 30 minutes. I had my take away. Drove one hour to my destination only to be disappointed by the meat. He served me old smelly and tasteless gyros. I ended up throwing the box away. This has proven to my stand that there is no good food in Ireland.

20/02/2025: Ordered takeaway here often, love the food. Ordered through their website. Arrive to collect and informed they no longer take orders through their website, only Just Eat. I was told to ring their website company to get my refund, and pay again for my order at the till at the restaurant. Absolutely outrageous! Won't be back.

21/02/2025: I love Supermac's - I wish they'd come to London! Great fast food - highly recommend the triple burger and the topped fries (garlic and cheese is my favourite). Nice branch in Athlone.

15/02/2025: I stopped here with my son, we are on holidays. I had a burger and chips it was fine. My son ordered a chicken box it was terrible. Skin,bones and batter. It was very bad value for money. We drove into athlone to visit the Irish resteraunt, we could have stopped earlier. No chicken Box ever again.

23/01/2025: I just want to say I have never been treated so rudely at a bar or nightclub til tonight, I waited from 12:08 to 12:37 for a bartender to take my order, if it wasn't for the customer next to me who directed the bartender to me, to say shes been waiting ages. Now I have worked in a bar and understand the pressure but for one of the bar supervisors with a blonde money piece hair and radio headset to say you will just have to wait you're turn after 25 mins of waiting and proceed to serve everyone around me and I still get the wrong drink order after paying like the incompetence behind the bar is shocking . Been coming here for years and after tonight absolutely won't be returning it was a busy night yes but a blind man could have managed better. Absolutely boycotting voodoo and barbarossa just because of brog now. Yeah you might say you don't need my business but jesus christ at least hire competent staff.

22/01/2025: Total Disrespect. Terrible Place! My experience at The Back Page was awful. It’s a place I had been to several times and often recommended to my friends, but this time it was a terrible experience. Although this happened some time ago, I think it’s important to document my experience. It was a very cold night when I had my reservation, and I contacted the venue in advance to make the booking. During the email exchanges, I was never informed of the location of my table, but I did specify the number of people, the reason for the reservation, etc. When I arrived, my table had been set up in the outdoor smoking area, with terrible heaters that weren’t sufficient to keep anyone warm. None of my guests smoked, and we all ended up surrounded by cigarette smoke while wearing thick winter coats. When I asked at reception, I was informed that the manager of the venue had made a note in the reservation saying that, on November 29th, they called me by phone and that I "agreed to have the reservation allocated in the outdoor area.” However, I was never contacted by phone by the venue, much less by the manager. All communication was done by email, and I have those records. In the end, we had no option to use a table inside the venue as they were all reserved. This was an absurd level of disrespect and disregard, compounded by the fact that they lied, claiming to have contacted me. At the very least, the manager did this because there was an overbooking or they wanted to benefit someone else who made their reservation after mine. I will never return to this place and have stopped recommending it to my friends.

18/12/2024: Lovely warm welcome, big fires, wonderful staff and everywhere buzzing. We had gorgeous lunch, excellent beef and crunchy apple crumble, top class, excellent. Thank you, you all made sad, nostalgic trip to Athlone very alright!!

15/11/2024: I visited here on Wednesday 13th November with my daughter and her friend it was my daughters birthday and she goes to college in Letterkenny, so i drove two and half hours. When we arrived we got served and had great Banter with the bar staff. I had found them very friendly. However there was a pub quiz on which involved i-pads. We took part in this. At half time our eye pad was knocked off the counter by accident by someone who was getting a drink at the bar. The front screen of the i-pad cracked and we couldn't open it, One of my daughters friends gave it to the lad that was doing the quiz and when he seen that it was cracked he came over to us and said who the F%%K is going to pay for this, I said sorry about that it was sitting on the bar and someone knocked it off the bar, He said that cost F%%%ing €80. I said well you don' expect us to pay for it and surely there is insurance. He looked at the bar man and put his hand up to his neck making an expression to not serve us any more , There was about 6 bar staff on that night and were not allowed to serve us. I got the attention of one of the bar staff which i actually think was a manager and i asked him why he is not serving us and he told us because you broke that I-pad I asked him could i speak to the manager and he said the manager was not there. I told him we didnt break it that it was knocked off the counter but it fell on deaf ears, . No one would serve us. Eventually my daughter moved to a different part of the bar and got served and paid with her phone. When the barman seen the drinks in- front of us he lifted them including the first drink that i had sitting there not finished. At this stage the bouncer was there with us as i had called him over to say what was happening and he also witnessed the bar man doing this. My daughter said to the bar man why are you doing that i have paid for those drinks. The bar man said you didn't so she showed him her phone to prove payment of €20.80. He went to the till and threw €20 on the bar. I spoke to the 2 lovely bouncers at the door and they could not believe this happened, one of the bouncers asked did you not get the manager and i told him i was told he was not there. The bouncer said he was, that is why i think that the manager was the man who took the drinks off us and told all the bar staff not to serve us. There was a lot of people in the pub that night and asked what happened as they could see i was very upset and they could see that the bar staff were not serving us. Some of the people there even offered to get us drinks but i said no, i dont think we are welcome here and he might not serve you either. I have never in my life being treated so bad or ever told to leave a place . The bar man { I think manager }clearly was a ignorant bully who took the side of the man that was running the pub quiz. and who has absolutely no clue about customer service. He really put a damper on our night and for those reasons i would not recommend this place to anyone.
