01/06/2026: The food is okay , staff are terrible , why is there an option for customer service if they are just gonna call out ur table number ?? I don’t know where you got them but I’d suggest a whole new group of employees

24/05/2026: Everything was basically fine until I went to the toilet. Tell me, do I need to teleport somewhere first just to close the door? Because it literally smashes right into the toilet bowl and won't let you inside. Who is this toilet space even designed for—hobbits? What on earth was the designer thinking when they planned all this?

04/06/2026: We weren’t sure whether to go in at first because of some mixed reviews, but we’re really glad we did. The owner greeted us outside and was so friendly that we decided to give it a try, and it turned out to be a great choice. We were a big group with some older people and he kindly opened a quieter dining room for us in Jack’s Bar, away from the main bar area, which made everything much more comfortable. It also seems that Jack’s Bar and The Lough Avoul are under the same ownership. The food was delicious, the portions were generous and the prices very reasonable, and the service was warm and attentive throughout. Overall a really lovely experience, we would definitely come back and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Glengarriff!

26/12/2025: We arrived at The Port House Cava for our booking at 1pm Christmas Eve. The restaurant was empty except for one table. All the other tables were vacant. The server greeted us and immediately warned us he needed the table back at 3pm. That’s fine. We sat. We waited. The same server was down the back chatting with the kitchen over the pass. We waited a little longer, still no drinks order was coming. I decided to draw some attention to our table by going up to the empty bar. The only occupied table gave me a glance that I read as a comment on the hopeless service as they tried to get the same servers attention. He was still chatting at the pass while the only two tables were both waiting for some attention. Up to the bar he saunters, I ask if we can order some prosecco. We only have Cava he says “they are the same thing”. No there not I reply, but ok let’s have a bottle of cava and if you don’t mind 6 glasses for our table. Back at our table he produces a wine list which would have been handy when we were seated. The cava arrives. It’s barely chilled. I say nothing. Again the same server reminds us that he needs the table back at 3pm. My blood is boiling at this stage as my family as I are made feel like we are an obstruction of sorts. The food arrives and it’s delicious. Well presented. Well cooked and a delight. The first bottle of cava is empty. I’d like to order another but the server is back down at the pass chatting again. To command he attention, again I get up and venture to the bar. Another server has started his shift just before 2pm. He’s more attentive. We order another cava and a bottle of rosé. 2.40pm and the 2nd server starts clearing our table. 2.50pm and they are hovering around our table to let us know it’s almost time to go. The restaurant is still empty except for one other 3top table. The bill arrives and I settle at the bar leaving half the tip I normally would. I ask the server why the hard push on getting the table back while the restaurant is empty. He has no answer. Which points me toward the owner or manager who I know will read this review. So, dear sir or madam, your pockets would be better lined if you spent as much time on encouraging your staff to deliver a good experience rather than a punctual one. You’re employing bus boys, not servers. We’re paying for the experience of which the food is only part. The atmosphere was dead just like the bookings. What’s the different between The Port House Cava and Tapas Del Lola? The staff. The staff. The staff. You’re doing Camden Street no favours with this diabolical customer service. I strongly suggest you consider adding some charm somewhere because you’re just not at the level of some of your good neighbours.

10/05/2026: The food was very good and the staff were friendly. The garlic butter fries were delicious and crispy. I really enjoyed it.

06/05/2026: Probably the most filthy establishment I've ever been in. Disgusting. Staff always look unkempt and greasy looking.. The whole place is covered in a layer of grime boardered by a triming of caked on filth. Gross. Disgusting. Putrid. Gordan Ramsy would have a full on rage induced panic attack of a nervous breakdown it's so filthy. Wow is it a pig sty.

28/04/2026: The food was okay overall, but I’d say it’s quite expensive for what you get. I had to remove two items as I can’t eat them, and they replaced them with extra roast potatoes and a hash brown, which I appreciated. That said, I initially only got four small pieces of potato, but when I asked for more, they added extra, which was good. The server was friendly and took our order well. The coffee was really good nice and hot. There’s also good parking available, and it’s easy to turn in and access the place.

26/04/2026: Editing an old review from 5 stars as I used to absolutely love this place. Have been coming in for breakfasts/brunches here for years now. Used to love the Full Irish ('Farmer's Fair') but they've changed a lot from what they used to be. It's hit & miss on the food a lot of the time, as they regularly change things around regarding what arrives on the plate so it's like a lottery. Food has become very disappointing over the last year or more and do not justify the prices anymore.

13/05/2026: The service is truly exceptional, along with the staff, and there is no doubt about that. Additionally, the cuisine offers a genuinely exotic experience. The ambiance is pleasant, and the seating is remarkably comfortable.

03/04/2026: Had a fantastic experience at Kanok Thai! The food was absolutely excellent—full of flavour and clearly made with care. The portion sizes were very generous, which made it even better value for money. What really stood out was the staff: incredibly accommodating and welcoming. Even though they were about to close in 15 minutes, they still went out of their way to take our order and make sure we were looked after. Truly great service and a place I’d happily recommend! Must try foods: halo halo,turon and crispy pork menu!

06/04/2026: We went a group of 35 people. Booked in advance. This was the second time we did this as it worked so well previously. Everyone enjoyed their food. Service was amazing as were the staff. No complaints at all. The manager was extremely helpful when booking, we gave a deposit as we had booked so many tables, no issues getting our deposit back on the day. All in all, highly recommend this restaurant!

16/08/2025: Dumplings were rubbish, chewy slimy casing and very expensive for what they are. Never had dumplings as bad as this. Rest of the food was like that of a poor takeaway, but just a lot more expensive. Don’t make the mistake we did and go somewhere else instead.

14/08/2025: Al mirar el menú se veía impresionante. Pedí nuestra comida. Estaba deseando gambas agridulces. Las gambas no eran comestibles. La sopa Tom Yum no tiene absolutamente ningún sabor. El personal no está capacitado para estar atento. Pero me sentí mal por ellos ya que una chica no parecía entendernos. Malgasto de dinero.

25/11/2025: I was here few times: always as drop in when hectic traffic- to wait for better way- with my grandson. Such warm atmosphere, smiling and friendly staff - I am very happy here when spending few hours.. and.. a beef! .. just melting in the mouth.. quiet music…. What else one would dream when outside windy and traffic jam for hours? BIG THANK YOU!!!

23/11/2025: Good hotel. Very friendly staff (in Ireland, so what do you expect), good room size, quiet, and good location if you are visiting Park West. Quite a distance from the centre of Dublin, although there is a bus that is inexpensive.
