Zaatar

Dublin
28/05/2025: Fantastic pizza experience. The staff are extremely warm, friendly and welcoming. We didn’t have to wait long to be served and our pizza came out promptly despite a busy service. Very impressed with the pizza itself. Neapolitan style dough and not too heavy an amount of toppings. We requested half no cheese and this was no problem for them. Very competitive pricing also. We will definitely be back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
26/05/2025: Delicious wood-fired pizza! A great mix of classic flavors plus a Lebanese twist. My family tried the Cheese & Zatar, Sujuk, and Lahm Bil Ajine manakish, and we were fighting over who got to take home the leftovers.

Bastible

Dublin
17/05/2025: We recently returned to Bastible for the first time since before the pandemic, choosing it as the spot to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately, we left feeling more underwhelmed than impressed. To be clear, the food was good and well-executed, with no dishes we actively disliked. But for a restaurant with such a strong reputation (and a price tag to match), the overall experience fell short in several ways. The biggest letdown was the service. Having worked in hospitality myself and dined at multiple Michelin-starred restaurants both in Dublin and abroad, I had certain expectations. Not for extravagance, but for attentiveness and care. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. Staff seemed disengaged, with minimal explanation or enthusiasm when presenting dishes. The wine pairings were introduced with little context or storytelling, and the sommelier in particular seemed rushed, as if he were trying to get through the evening’s service rather than elevate it. For a bill that came to over €400 for the tasting menu and wine pairing, we expected more than “fine.” There was no sense of occasion, no added effort to make the evening feel even remotely special. We’ve spent far less in unstarred restaurants and left feeling far more satisfied and cared for. In short: if you’re visiting Bastible for the food alone, you’ll likely enjoy it. But if you’re hoping for a full dining experience, one that justifies the price and pedigree, you may want to look elsewhere.
06/05/2025: Just be aware when booking, if a high table comes up, it is more like a bar table, and seats are stools with no backs. It's not v comfortable. Pity. All the food scrumptious.

Spillane's

10/05/2025: The food was very disappointing, frozen chips and two small pieces of fish with 4 salad leaves and a teaspoon of coleslaw. Wouldn't eat here again. The location is stunning though

Mr Fox

Dublin
23/05/2025: We wanted to try to new A La Carte menu at Mr Fox so booked tickets at the Gate theatre and decided to go before the play. We arrived just after 5 and sat in the outdoor area. It was glorious evening and the outdoor area catches the evening sun so perfect for a pre-dinner drink. We decided to stay outdoors for dinner as it was so warm. We had the beer battered langoustines to start and they're melt in the mouth delicious. They had just introduced the tiger prawn as a starter as we went for it and boy they're amazing. Enormous so one each was plenty for us. I had the short rib beef and herself had the cod. The short rib was incredible and I was assured the cod was equally incredible. We finished off with a creme brulée and it was probably the nicest I've ever had. A perfect end. We then had plenty of time to wander around to the Gate to enjoy the play, Lovesong, which btw was brilliant. Well done Mr Fox.
26/04/2025: A set menu that I would not recommend, food was tasteless the price 100euro per person is absolutely crazy for the little bit you get I would not recommend going here there is so many more amazing restaurants in dublin.

La Peniche

Dublin
04/06/2025: Wonderful dining and cruise experience at La Peniche in the heart of Dublin! La Peniche came up as a unique dining venue, so we giave it a try. We were not disappointed. The crew was friendly and the service was excellent. Started off with drinks on the uppder deck. The crew provided blankets to guests to keep warm. They offer a 2- or 3-course menu for a fixed price. We enjoyed the Charcuterie board, Salmon Rillette, Filet of Seabass, Confit Duck and Bailey's Creme Brulee and Chocolate Cake. The two French chefs did an excellent job of preparing plates for each table, and the mood inside the barge was friendly and convivial. It was a pleasant surprise to find out that the barge would actually sail up and down the canal. While it's not a very long cruise, it is interesting as you go through a lock and you see a lot of envious pedestrians looking at you enjoying your time on the Peniche. All in all it took about 2 and 1/2 hours and with the clear weather we certainly enjoyed the dinner and the cruise. The drinks menu is very extensive and reasonably priced. Excellent value for money given that you dine and cruise at the same time. Must reserve in advance. Cheers!
02/06/2025: The food may be on the expensive side, but the staff is delightfully friendly and helpful.

Mary's

Dublin
17/04/2025: Awesome spot for drinks and food
10/04/2025: We had a drink here and we ordered a burger. The burger wasn't the best to be honest. It seemed over done and wasn't very enjoyable. The bar itself is a great idea and seems to have a nice atmosphere.
