20/12/2025: This was our first visit to The Hungry Monkey for breakfast, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. The café itself is quite small, with tables placed very close together, and it was extremely busy due to nearby offices. We were shown to a table by a staff member and ordered two breakfasts and two coffees. The coffees arrived quickly, but our food took almost 30 minutes. Meanwhile, customers seated around us were served, finished, and left, while our order still hadn’t arrived. What made the situation worse was the way it was handled. A woman who appeared to be the owner or manager approached us, initially apologising for the wait. We politely said it was fine. However, she then explained that she needed our table because other customers had reservations and repeatedly reminded us that she needed the table back. The delay was clearly not our choice, and it felt as though our order had been overlooked. Being asked multiple times — albeit with a smile — to hurry up or give up the table made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. If reservations were such an issue, we would have understood being told at the door, rather than being seated and then pressured. The food itself was very average and certainly not worth the overall experience. Unfortunately, the service and attitude overshadowed everything else. I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend it.

12/03/2026: Wow! Incredible. Best nachos I’ve ever had- they do not skimp out on the toppings or cheese. I got the kimchi chicken sandwich and also incredible! 10/10 for everything!

01/02/2026: My saughter and I stopped by Scanlons in Kinnegad to try their famous breakfast. We were not disappointed!!! I ordered a breakfast roll and my daughter the full irish breakfast. Our tea arrived within minutes by a friendly waitress who had a chat with us. There was a few in the pub and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. I enjoyed the breakfast roll with bacon, sausage, egg and black pudding and the irish breakfast was as expected a plate loaded with bacon , sausage, egg, black and white pudding, hash brown , beans with toast. We had a feast!!! The food waz hot, delicious, and the tea was gorgeous, just what we wanted on a cold rainy morning. Less than 20 euro for the breakfast for two was fantastic. Service was quick and super friendly. Scanlons are now our go to place for breakfast but we cant wait to try their lunch menu andvtheir early bird A la carte dinner menu. 100% recommended.

08/03/2026: Nice service, nice place, the starter (burrata) and the wine were lovely. But we were disappointed by the quality and taste of our main courses. Also, in regards to the main, the menu was disappointing last night, they were all red sauce based, no pesto pasta on the menu, no carbonara either, thus the main courses are a bit expensive for what they are.

23/02/2026: Absolutely top class. We visited Ballyvaughan this weekend as a large kayaking group with friends and family and ate both nights in Monks. The staff were lovely and very engaging, happy to make recommendations on the food and chat even though it was busy. The portions are very generous and the food quality is fantastic. There is probably only one place in Ireland where the fish, on the fish burger is actually bigger than the buns. Monks! The fish and chips was lovely on the first night and the fish pie I had the second night was out of this world. (Do yourself a favour and squeeze the lemon over the top) As a fussy Guinness drinker I don't often trust Guinness outside of a few select pubs. The Guinness in Monk's is absolutely fantastic. Cold and creamy. We were staying in a cottage beside it, but can only imagine staying here would be as top class as the staff, service and food. very child friendly too.

07/03/2026: A wonderful time at Terra Madre! The food was excellent, the pasta was delicious, and the tiramisu was incredible. As a French woman who has traveled to Italy, I can confidently say that you'll be in for a treat!

16/12/2025: One of the cosiest pubs in Dun Laoghaire. The silver application on the ceiling create a beautiful style at night and the pint they serve is delicious. The owner is a true gentleman and you will never have a bad experience in here.

09/01/2026: My advice is very simple, if you're hungry, don't eat here. The portions are tiny. The main (lasagna) felt like an appetizer. It's too expensive for the small portion sizes. I was finished in about 5 mins, lasagna + side of chips, 30euros :( There was more calories in the coffee I got from Starbucks on the way out.

17/12/2025: My friends and I has a meal in this restaurant last weekend and the food was sublime...Everything freshly cooked as we waited, the lady serving was friendly and attentive too her customs. Will definitely return..

20/12/2025: Visited for breakfast on the 16th. We ordered chicken benny, Turkish eggs, cheesecake, and 2 lattes. Later, I noticed the receipt charged €5 extra for 3 Blue Pea Lemonades, which we didn’t order. Also, our lattes were initially swapped with matcha, though the staff fixed it quickly. The café was very busy, so extra staff during peak hours might help. Overall, food was tasty; slightly larger portions or extra slice of bread would match the price better. But I hope this kind of mistake doesn’t happen to other customers.

14/12/2025: We visited Green Straw for breakfast in Dublin and tried the holiday specials menu, including the Bang Bang Chicken, Christmas sandwich, and caramel pancakes, everything was delicious. The flavors were amazing, the vibe was cozy, and the staff were incredibly welcoming. The chef even visited our table to check if everything was fine and explained the dishes, which made the experience feel extra special. One of the best breakfast spots we’ve been to, highly recommended and a must-visit whenever I’m in Ireland.
