The best restaurants

28/09/2025: One of the best restaurants in Lucan/Leixlip/Celbridge/Maynooth area. The Dover sole meunière was simply outstanding. Better than fish I’ve had in Sole Dublin. Service was great too. Sound bunch!

23/08/2025: Attentive, friendly service. The sea food platter is generous in size and v nice.

17/01/2026: Terrible never again....waiting over 45 minutes for food server never came over to apologise for delay..food was desperate , dry and small portions may aswell go for a kids portion..wont be back anytime soon.

15/06/2025: I had high hopes for this place, but after witnessing what goes on behind closed doors, I can’t recommend it. The lack of professionalism and questionable after-hours behaviour were deeply disappointing. What’s worse, after leaving my honest opinion, I received an intimidating message. That says more about the place than any review could. I was a regular customer. I expected decency, not fear. Not sure if management is aware, but if they are, that alone should be a red flag. Think twice before supporting this place.

14/06/2025: El fenix is possibly the best bar in cork city. Every single member of staff makes sure to make you feel welcomed. Savage music, beautiful pints, best spot in the city

01/02/2026: Cash only but they can process Revolut if needs be. Honestly the best Chinese Takeaway I've had in years. I ordered Sweet and Sour Pork, Spring Rolls and Chips. All top drawer. Quite simply the best Chinese Takeaway food I've ever had in Ireland if I'm being honest. Side note - beware the Kaifeng of the East! (Nothing to do with the restaurant!)

11/02/2026: What a super hotel to stay at. From the warm welcome on arrival and the friendly attention of all the staff this was a great experience overall. The rooms are superb as they have recently being undergoing refurbishment so not fully finished yet Hence the 4 stars on the room. They will merit 5 very soon. The convivial atmosphere and great Guinness with music and dancing in the bar added to a wonderful occasion. The meal we were served was of a very high standard. Very well done to Victoria and Darragh

09/02/2026: Enjoyed a family birthday celebration at the beach hotel this weekend. We had the best time and the team, led by Victoria could not have looked after us better.

12/12/2025: I’ve been a customer since 101 took over. Initially (for the first few years) they were the best, food and staff were amazing. But, the last year the standard has gone down. Such a pity. Might give it a miss for a good while after this evening. Worst cod ever. From the best to the worst so fast? Disappointed to say the least.

17/12/2025: Grind (Briarhill) is a real Find, a cafe really worth seeking out & aiming for, regardless of what else brings you to Galway, in fact Grind deserves to be the reason itself for travelling to Galway. Overall, great ambience, layout, buzz, comfort, menu.. Great food, great coffee. But most of all really attentive fantastic service by the multitude of servers. We were late converts to Grind, only discovering its' sister Dock Street branch a week before it closed 🙁 - but Grind Briarhill is even better🙂🙂 Thanks!

18/03/2026: It used to be a great experience but it seems the more they have expanded, the more chaotic the experience is. Four of us went for dinner and had a reservation. We were led to a table and handed menus and told to have a nice evening but nothing else was explained and we deduced for ourselves that we could scan a barcode and order but we wanted assistance as my son, who's autistic, needed to order his burger without certain things and was anxious about making sure he did it face to face. It was a busy night and the staff all seemed very stressed and agitated. When we asked questions about items on the menu, they didn't understand what we were asking and just nodded but didn't really understand what what was being asked. It was a bit stressful because they were under pressure despite so many of them running back and forth, which made us feel pressured to just eat and go. It also took quite a while- maybe 20 minutes - for one additional drink to come. Three of us had carvery and with an hour left to the closing of the carvery there was very little left. What I did get was quite tasty and was certainly hot. My son's food did come as he ordered it but it wasn't particularly tasty. All he ordered was for it to come without additional items such as cheese and pickles, so that shouldn't have extracted taste from the burger itself which just seemed to be flattened beef with no seasoning or anything else like a normal burger would have to make at least have some flavour. The desserts looked and tasted like they were brought in frozen and defrosted. Also the allergen listings were incorrect but I brought that to the attention of the waiter who said he'd mention it to have it amended. Then with 10 minutes until they carvery closed, they were bringing out fresh joints and veg so if the usual time had been extended this was not communicated. Overall the price was reasonable. I liked my dinner. It was tasty and hot. My mother had the same issue with little choice but hers was also hot. My other son was happy with his carvery food. So, a bit of a mixed bag but it just felt so stressful. It was a busy night and so the staff were probably under pressure but we could certainly feel it and just ended up feeling like we needed to eat and leave even though they were not short of tables. I would like to go again to see if a quieter time would be better. I quite enjoyed what I had, I just had the issue with the allergen information being incorrect and also with not being able to ask questions because the waitress wasn't understanding us. It has changed a lot over the years and perhaps it's become so big it is sometimes hard to maintain the expansion because the menu is certainly varied and there's a lot of choice with plenty to pick from. It is however now very impersonal and less like The Barn used to be and more like a Wetherspoons from the perspective of sitting down for a family meal out.
