The best restaurants

13/02/2025: Got the large salt & chilli buttermilk chicken tenders box, the chicken was the nicest I've had in a long time, massive pieces with a gorgeous coating. Chips are not fresh cut chipper chips but still nice thick cut style cooked well. The seasoning was spot on, great spice bag flavour. Large is big enough for two people(I'd already eaten a tender and some chips when I took my pic :)) Also included a very nice curry sauce with a good kick from it. My daughter also got a love oreo milkshake that she loved. Also got some gluten free chips for my other daughter who is celiac. Would definitely recommend.

16/01/2025: I decided to try this place as I've seen it a few times while drive by. We decided to try the pizzas. Honestly, I was disappointed. The toppings should have been more and the edges of the pizza was burnt. The cost of the pizza Vs value was disproportionate. Perhaps I visited on an off day....

30/01/2025: Lovely pub really near train station which was handy for me as I was just calling to meet a friend. 2 nice women serving behind the bar. Nice pint of guinness and warm atmosphere. Enjoyed spending 2 hours there.

22/01/2025: Nice little cafe with a good atmosphere, lots of room up and downstairs. I asked for a gluten/lactose free option after looking at the menu and was told that there wasn't a lot of sway for that to happen, the coffee wasn't great either. I had the soup that was fine.

19/01/2025: It's very newly opened & I've been there quite a lot of times already. Food is excellent. So glad to see this beautiful premises put to use again.

24/06/2024: Had a tea here with gluten free and vegan Snikeroo from Clever foods. It's quite hard to find a place to have a tea that has gluten and lactose. It has 3 tables that are great to spend some time under the nice weather. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

31/12/2024: Absolutely disgusting. Not only that this is not pizza dough but the order was 1 hour late and they even messed up the order THEY SENT A DISGUSTING PIZZA WITH PINEAPPLE! Absolutely disgusting! Never again

16/02/2025: Very disappointing, dirty and they must have the most expensive drinks in Dun Laoghaire. Stopped here for a drink on a Thursday night and was charged over €17 for a beer and glass of red wine. I know everywhere is expensive these days but this was around 2 euros more expensive than the same round in other pubs in the area. Wine was €9.50 and the glass was manky dirty. I unsuccessfully tried to clean it myself and then decided to ask for a new glass The staff apologised and then poured by wine into a Smirnoff cocktail glass instead. 20 minutes later the staff were spraying bleach and cleaning the tables so we decided to leave after 1 drink. Staff were very nice but the pub leaves a lot to be desired. It was €15 for the same round in McKennas around the corner 👍

30/01/2025: I stopped by this lovely little cafe this morning. I was merely passing through Athboy. What a gem of a place. Lovely warm and friendly atmosphere. I was greeted with a smile by the man working even though he was very busy. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and will definitely pop in again the next time I’m in town. A very special thanks for your kindness. May it come back on you tenfold.

13/12/2024: I am utterly disappointed with my experience at Spice and Rice and cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. I placed an order through their website with a specific delivery time. However, 10 minutes after the set time, I had to call to find out where my order was. I was told the driver was on the way. An hour later, my order was still nowhere to be found. When the driver finally called, they claimed to be outside, but they were at a completely wrong address—showcasing a shocking level of incompetence. To make matters worse, when I contacted the restaurant to resolve this, I was told they couldn’t issue a refund because they “don’t have access to that.” This raises serious concerns about their business practices and leaves customers helpless when things go wrong. I have been forced to escalate the matter elsewhere since I’ve received no meaningful assistance from the restaurant. This entire experience has been nothing short of a disaster. Avoid Spice and Rice at all costs.

07/12/2024: My worst experience ever. More than 2 hours wasting my time waiting for a delivery that never came, when it said that should take just 15-30min. No explanations, no compensation and no punishment for the bad behaviour of the staff and the not serious management. Obviously they were not taking my calls and either giving any update of the order, just avoiding and lying about where was my food. In addition, when they finally managed to cook my order again the food was cold and tasted really bad. I spent 50€ on a couple overpriced dishes that were smaller than my pp, was annoying to receive such a bad food after 2h wasting my time and talking with the customer service.

08/02/2025: Couldn't fault this place, from the comfort to the staff, it was a pleasant experience from start to finish!
