20/08/2025: First time visiting the Grove Bar, for a family function. Lovely atmosphere, will definitely return

22/08/2025: Three of us went there for dinner. One burger, one Caesar salad, and one Margherita pizza. All three dishes arrived after exactly three minutes. The pizza crust wasn't cooked through. The burger was dry, and the bun was dusty. The chicken in the salad was dry and old (or so it looked). A real shame.

21/08/2025: This pub is truly what you'd imagine an Irish pub to be. We had quite a few drinks here, and the changing live music was amazing. The atmosphere was fantastic. A definite recommendation in Kilkenny. The pub was voted the best pub with live music in Ireland in 2017.

20/08/2025: August 2025 Very nice but small restaurant, cosy at about 40 at a time. Excellent menu with daily specials. Heineken and Krombacher is the draft beer. We had Goat cheese Tart with side salad, cheesy garlic bread with balsamic glaze on the side and a mixed seafood gratin starter. The food was excellent- simple and very tasty all round. My partner tries Goats cheese salads or tarts in a lot of places and this one was exquisite as was my Seafood gratin starter. Combined with the cheesy garlic bread that was enough for us as we weren’t particularly hungry and this was plenty. A very fine Le Murate Montepulciano D’Abruzzo went along nicely with such great food. Well done Claire to you and your team. I like places that try to keep prices reasonable and produces great dishes. We will be back

01/08/2025: Disgraceful. Sitting outside and saw the bouncer — some eastern European/russian sounding lad — straight-up refuse entry to one of a group of English lads, just because he was Brown. No reason, no explanation. Pure racism, plain and simple. Fuming after seeing that. Place should be ashamed

07/08/2025: We phoned ahead as we knew we were going to be getting to the area later than planned and they straight away said they would squeeze us in if we got there before they stopped serving , made it woth 15 minutes to spare and we were welcomed and seated and what followed was an unrushed lovely homecooked meal , The chowder and the thai green curry were amazing , We were heading for malin head for the night in our camper but the weather changed for the worst and they happily allowed us to park up on site so we went in to the bar for a few drinks and had a laugh with the locals, Next morning it would of been rude not to go back in for a full Irish to start the day , again superb service and food , highly recommended.

De principio a fin, Keith el gerente no pudo hacer lo suficiente por nosotros: desde ayudar a planificar el menú hasta organizar música en vivo, todo se cuidó con tanta atención y profesionalidad. 08/07/2025: I’ve been to hundreds of pubs across Ireland and this one has to be the best Irish pub in the world. The owner is the loveliest person to ever exist, gave me one Irish coffee for free. If you are in Arklow you must come here

There was live music and it was just the best, the two chaps were brilliant.. we had so much fun and didn’t want to leave. Definitely will be back!!

19/08/2025: Good dinner in a tiny restaurant where everything is prepared with Irish ingredients. Tasting menu to travel through the tastes of West Ireland with Irish drink pairing. Crab, fish, duck, tomatoes, mash potatoes with mushrooms, see weeds, cheese with a fig, forest strawberry dessert, ice apple wine and so much more. However, the service is too intrusive and feels too commercial so we liked the food but not really the overall atmosphere. I don’t think I would go again

07/08/2025: There’s expensive and there is rip off, this place used to do good food, I got the pie today and the portion size would barely be classified as a starter anywhere else in the country, at a minimum it should come with a portion of chips but I was told it came with mash - €21 later and I’m leaving still starving. Worst value I can remember in this country. We need as a country to start calling this abject nonsense out.
