27/08/2026: Passed by so many times over the years but stopped yesterday! What a great meal, monkfish/scampi starter was excellent, pan fried Hake, superb! We will never pass without stopping in future, highly recommended!

15/08/2026: Didn't reserve - stopped on the off chance after our visit to Hook Lighthouse. Great customer service and delicious food! I had the sirloin - fantastic!

17/09/2026: Absolutely the best lamb I have ever had. The chips were awesome as well. The girls loved thier burgers too. Both later wished they had ordered the fall off the bone lamb.

17/09/2026: Highly recommended pub in our opinion. Without a reservation, we waited a little while. Eventually, we shared a table with a young Italian couple (my wife also speaks Italian). Near our table, some regulars were celebrating a family reunion. In this festive, musical atmosphere, we chatted pleasantly and enjoyed our dinner. Our evening was a success.

14/10/2026: Trad music - less crowded than some of the other bars in Galway.

13/10/2026: Had lunch here which was yum and the portions were bigger than I expected. Can recommend the Latin quarter melt (not pictured) which was delish. We returned later in the day for some live music which was great. It is a small space so was very busy, but we had a drink at the bar while enjoying the traditional music. Much better experience than the other pub we tried down the road.

05/09/2026: A Korean couple on long-term travel is exploring every corner of Ireland, and it was wonderful that this place was connected to a B&B. We wanted to drink Guinness because of the burden of driving, and here, we enjoyed a Guinness in a great atmosphere with friendly service. We had a truly filling and delicious meal of seasoned fried chicken and pasta. We would like to thank the chef once again for his consideration in adapting the lunch menu pasta to be vegetarian. I highly recommend this place to Korean travelers and other Asians as a great spot for Guinness, seasoned fried chicken, and pasta. It seems like a hidden gem in Ireland. We have created wonderful memories here. It seems like a place I will miss a lot when I return to Korea.

27/08/2026: We stopped there for dinner on the recommendation of our host, Michael. The atmosphere was charming and typically Irish. The staff was very friendly, and the lamb dish was absolutely delicious. We'd love to come back.

25/08/2026: Very nice cafe/pancake shop. Well known, parking a bit of a problem, although the parking lot is quite large. Outdoor seating is nice, lots of tables. Unfortunately 2 out of 3 pancakes were burnt in the middle.

15/08/2026: I would imagine that they call themselves “The pancake cottage”. I would rather eat sheep dung. Too butter for my sweet tooth.

12/10/2026: The best table in the restaurant. “Come at two o’clock sharp,” and there it was, I repeat, the best table in the restaurant for us. The food was sensational: salmon, mussels, traditional soup, fish and chips, and my spicy prawns—oh my! Amazing. Thank you so much, team; you put the perfect finishing touch on our visit to Howth!

05/09/2026: We come back to Old Street Restaurant every year when we’re in Dublin, and it has become one of those places we genuinely look forward to. We’ve been here several times now, including with family and friends, and the quality has been consistently exceptional. What really stands out is the food. The quality of the ingredients, the presentation, and especially the combination of flavors are outstanding. Everything feels thoughtful and beautifully balanced, with those little unexpected touches that turn a very good dish into something memorable. Today was no exception. From the main courses and sides to the dessert, everything was absolutely delicious. For us, Old Street is easily one of our top three restaurants in Ireland. And the fact that we keep coming back year after year probably says it best. Highly recommended. We’ll absolutely be back! ❤️

30/08/2026: This was our absolute favorite meal during our visit to Ireland. Definitely get the mussels, you won't be disappointed. Excellent service, atmosphere, and food. I would fly across the Atlantic again to eat here.

30/09/2026: Fantastic eatery with a great selection of beers and wine. I really loved the Ellipsis home brew and enjoyed tasting the sample paddle with my wife, who also complimented the excellent wine selection. The food was outstanding, along with the brilliant service from the waiting staff. A great experience all round. Thank you, guys! We’ll definitely be back. 🍻🍷

30/09/2026: An update!! Decided to give them another shot (handy for on the way home), wife wasn’t too hungry, so had the soup, and was asked if she’d like an extra slice of bread to with it, as no main. No indication that it was an extra charge, just a nice gesture. How wrong. I have to say we were shocked, absolutely incredulous that it was charged for €1.25 for slice of bread. I get things can be tight, margins etc, but really, down to charging for slices of bread. Anyways, that’s us done with the Dew Drop. “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me” Staff are great, and it is a nice pleasant location, but, but, I do think the food quality has fallen off over time. Had the feather blade beef, it was just too dry, needed more gravy than what was on the plate, need to get extra gravy to make up. Also a €4 supplement on the fixed menu, pretty small font there! The fish in the fish and chips wasn’t great neither, the fish just was too soggy, just ok. The panda cotta was woeful though, a useless tulip glass that made it hard eat, and it was just liquid rather than firm. Has to check the menu to see the description, as we thought it was supposed to have orange. It did, in the bottom, but not enough. Overall, an absolutely woeful dessert. A pity, as we have enjoyed diners there previously

25/08/2026: Very kind and professional reception desk. Rooms spacious and well appointed to include US and Continental style electric outlets. Restaurant under construction but dining still available and food was excellent. We would enjoy staying here again.

29/07/2026: We had a good stay, except for the absolute nightmare of a server at breakfast who was very rude to our group. We had a large group and they were absolutely not prepared to handle a large order. She yelled, spoke very rudely, and made unnecessary comments about how we should not be ordering from the main menu, which no one told us about before we were seated. The food for very good and rooms were comfortable, but the breakfast from hell left us with a bit of a bad taste in the end. I hope they are more upfront next time about expectations and management of larger groups.

08/10/2026: Awful, overpriced, recycled food, most likely reheated in the microwave. It's a pity I held positive memories prior, as the food was exquisite and fresh. The restaurant is now rundown in every possible way, ( the whole place is in serious need of revamp, the chairs are uncomfortable, with stained flat cushions, above you could see the TVs with dust on them, the table legs had droplets of dried-out condiments and food, it was really filthy). The service was good, but obviously we expected top tier food that's why we stayed on. Their status as a reputable, decent food restraunt have surely sunk. We will not be returning, and I wouldn't recommend going to eat there.

06/10/2026: The food wasn't great. The meat in Guinness had absolutely no flavor. Meh.

10/09/2026: After a long journey to Ireland, this was our first stop, and we were so thrilled to find delicious food, great and friendly service, and above all, that unique, authentic Irish atmosphere at Half Barrel. If it weren't so far away, we would definitely be regulars :-)

05/09/2026: Very friendly local pub serving excellent food. Staff were more than willing to adapt the menu to accommodate dietary needs. Absolutely no problem and all with a big smile and superb service. Great recommendation from our Airbnb host nearby.
