Listowel Arms Hotel
Listowel
29/10/2025: We had the most astonishing wedding at the Listowel Arms Hotel on the 2nd of August, and I genuinely couldn’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we met Patrice, the wedding coordinator, we knew we were in safe hands. We first met her in the hotel itself, then again at a wedding fair in Dublin, where her warmth and professionalism really stood out. The team were so kind, gave us every bit of information we needed, and from that moment, everything just felt effortless.
Patrice and her team handled every detail of our wedding from start to finish. They took over the planning and coordination so smoothly that we could truly relax and enjoy the build-up. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and everything ran seamlessly on the day.
We travelled down from Dublin with 150 guests, and both the hotel and the town of Listowel embraced us completely. The town had everything our guests needed… from cafés and restaurants to lively pubs like John B. Keane’s, where we gathered the night before the wedding for an unforgettable evening.
Our ceremony took place across the road at St. John’s Theatre, and when we had specific requests about decorations and seating, Patrice went above and beyond to make it perfect. She personally dressed the venue, creating the most intimate and beautiful setting imaginable.
The ballroom was set up beautifully by the staff, elegant, welcoming, and full of atmosphere. You’d be amazed how many people it can comfortably cater for. What’s so special about the Listowel Arms is that you truly get to use the entire hotel… the ballroom, the bar, the front terrace, and the back patio overlooking the river and racecourse. Guests could drift between spaces, and it created a warm, social flow that made the day feel natural and alive.
And the food… outstanding. The fillet steak was enormous and perfectly cooked, the butternut squash soup, the chicken vol au vant and pork belly were outrageously tasty. We received amazing feedback from our guests, that the food was incredible and generous. We were also given real flexibility with the menu… multiple options per course, tailored exactly to our preferences. The wine was lovely, and drinks were very reasonably priced.
One of the hotel’s biggest charms is its rooms…each one is unique, full of character and individuality. It’s a family-run hotel, and that warmth shines through in every detail. The staff take genuine care to ensure every guest feels looked after, and that personal touch makes all the difference.
While the hotel comfortably accommodated an a lot of our guests, there’s also plenty of additional accommodation throughout the town, all within walking distance… so for bigger weddings, there is capacity for everyone. The hotel will happily share local suggestions.
The next morning, we enjoyed a fantastic Irish breakfast, and even for our second day, the hotel were well able to look after everyone’s lunch before we continued our celebrations in McCarthy’s, Finuge. The hotel were still as accommodating as ever when we returned late, for those who mean no end to their evening.
Listowel is only 15 minutes from Ballybunion Beach, a great beach for a swim, and Ballybunion Golf Club… one of the best courses in the world. Many golfers stay in larger towns thinking Ballybunion doesn’t have high-quality accommodation nearby, but the Listowel Arms is a great base.
In terms of value for money, nowhere else compared. We’d visited venues all across Ireland, but none had the warmth, intimacy, or genuine hospitality we found here. What’s so special about the Listowel Arms is how the team make you feel. They manage to look after you with incredible attention while still extending their trademark Kerry welcome to other guests… a true reflection of their experience.
If you want a wedding full of charm, heart, and character… and don’t want to get lost in the commerciality of hotels… this is your venue!
To Patrice and the entire team at the Listowel Arms Hotel, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving us the most magical wedding weekend imaginable!
07/10/2025: They let Zoe in, albeit in their covered outside area. You can see the racecourse from there. Its a cosy, quaint sort of place with great friendly service. We all enjoyed our meals. Looked as so they had plenty of rooms to dine in or have a drink or two. I suspect that the accommodation is great too. Overall it seemed to be an olde world charming place although we did not stay there.

Rasa Indian Restaurant
Dublin
02/11/2025: We celebrated a birthday here, and the experience was exceptional. As someone who usually dines at the top Indian spots in Dublin, I was genuinely blown away this place deserves far more recognition.
For starters, we had the lamb seekh and paneer tikka. The lamb could’ve been slightly softer, but still tasted great. The paneer tikka, with its thin layer of chutney, was a standout a small touch that made it perfect.
For mains, we ordered chicken biryani and Kadhai Paneer. Both were excellent, but the Kadhai Paneer truly stole the show, it transported me straight back to the best dhabas of Punjab, full of nostalgic flavours.
To top it off, the staff surprised us with a birthday candle on dessert and were warm and attentive all evening. I’ll definitely be back for more.
01/11/2025: I went with 5 people and waited for like an hour for the food. Though Food was ok, but the service and staff was very rude and giving cold reception. It was little disappointment because the marketing in social sites are to big and flashy but in real its not worth to pay for unwelcoming vibe.

01/10/2025: What a wee gem! Fabulous Irish breakfast, (and the rest) with friendly staff, that you just know when you see them are going to deliver real home cooking like mother used to make.
And then there is their bakery! Wow! This is worthy of travelling to. Amazing range of luxurious super sized home made treats that makes it very difficult to pick just one favourite. Definitely heading back here every year now on trips to Clare. Well done ladies fabulous to see a business that have 110% nailed what they do!
21/09/2025: Friendly welcome, quick service, wholesome food and a fantastic strawberry sponge cake.

Lyrath Estate Hotel
12/10/2025: We were a group of 6 ,visiting the spa .Once we parked the cars ,we were impressed. Beautiful hotel and park ,very green around it ,perfect for a photo session for events . The spa was beautiful, everyone is extremely polite and helpful! There is all you need ,towels, slippers, etc ,all you need is couple of hours to experience it! The treatment was great ,the girl that was taking care of me ( from Greece) was absolutely amazing !
10/10/2025: Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny is a perfect mix of classic charm and modern luxury. The estate is stunning, surrounded by peaceful countryside, with lovely walking paths and beautifully maintained gardens. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere feels calm and welcoming.
My room was spacious and comfortable, with elegant décor and all the modern amenities you’d expect from a five-star hotel. The staff were friendly and professional, always ready to help and make sure everything was perfect throughout my stay.
Breakfast was generous, with a wide selection of fresh, local options, and the restaurant offered beautifully presented dishes full of flavour.
One of my favourite things about Lyrath is how peaceful it feels even though it’s only a few minutes from Kilkenny city centre. It’s the best of both worlds — countryside serenity with easy access to shops, restaurants, and local attractions.
Overall, Lyrath Estate Hotel is the perfect choice for a relaxing getaway, romantic stay, or weekend retreat. Elegant, comfortable, and surrounded by nature, it truly lives up to its reputation for excellence.

Ballycarney Inn
12/10/2025: We were delighted to find this quirky pub with personality. Our two dogs were welcome with no hesitation and the food was simple but tasty. Highly recommended!
02/10/2025: We stumbled upon Ballycarney Inn during our return trip from the cliffs, and it turned out to be a delightful surprise — exactly the kind of place that makes a journey memorable.
From the moment we walked in, the warm welcome from the staff made us feel like treasured guests rather than just passing travelers. Their kindness, genuine smiles, and attentiveness set the tone for the entire visit.
The interior of the Inn struck me as delightfully unconventional and charming. It’s not just a typical pub or tea room — there are unique design touches and cozy corners that invite you to slow down and enjoy the atmosphere. It felt friendly, artistic even, and quite unlike the generic chain–style stops you often see along busy routes.
But what truly won my heart were the desserts. Each sweet treat we had was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious — clearly made with care, high‐quality ingredients, and a sense of pride. Whether it was a creamy pudding, a delicate cake, or some pastry delight, every bite was a treat.
In sum, Ballycarney Inn is a gem. If you ever find yourself in County Wexford or passing through the area, do yourself a favor and pause here. The staff, the interior, the food — all combine to make it more than “just a stop.” It’s a highlight in its own right.

Padoca
Dublin
21/10/2025: Padoca is that little place you want to come back to again and again! I've already ordered a party kit and eaten there, everything was delicious! The sweets and savory dishes have that homemade Brazilian flavor, made with great care. The staff is always friendly, and the atmosphere is super cozy. You can tell everything is made with love.
Perfect for reliving the flavors of Brazil in Dublin! 😍
15/10/2025: My Brazilian friend took me here and I love everything I tried. The tapioca, the coxinha and pão de queijo; they are all so good and you can really tell there's quality in the food. Also the quantity is so good, I usually share the tapioca with my boyfriend and I get so full with just half (I took the photo of the tapioca already half eaten). The carrot cake is also really good.
The place is kinda small. They have an outdoor area you can seat on but Dublin is always raining so you can take your chances. The staff are all so nice.
