03/05/2026: The food here is very good.I have not been here in a long time but the standard of dishes is excellent . I had the feather blade of beef and it was the nicest I've had to date. The deserts are standard enough but lovely all the same.Staff are very friendly and efficient. It's a lovely spot for dining and watching live sports. We will be visiting more regularly.

19/04/2026: I live near the Black Bull and we probably visit it about once a year or so. It's never been great. I went on Saturday, 18/4/2026 at 6pm with my wife and 2 friends. The prices had jumped up. I ordered a €36 10 ounce Rib Eye steak and it was the worst steak I've had in my life in a restaurant. I buy €8 Sirloin steaks in Lidl most weekends and cook better than whatever stand-in chef you had working that night. It was given a very thin and overcooked low quality steak. The chips were nice... but the main event, the most important part of the meal was bad. In hindsight, I think they gave me the cheaper 6 ounce Sirloin and overcooked it when I asked for medium. Also charging €2 for at thimble sized pot of peppercorn sauce was robbery. There were very limited starter options, in fact there was only a "small plates" option no individual starters. I had asked for another glass of wine from a waitress but it never came. As usual, every time I go to the Black Bull, there's quality, service and menu issues. But messing up a €36 steak is bad. I hear from others the owner is more concerned opening up some pizza bar and probably dropped the ball badly in the Black Bull. Not impressed...

14/04/2026: This review is for the dining experience: We booked an "afternoon tea" for two. The set up was absolutely delightful and area that the "afternoon tea" was served in was perfect for dining with two children as space was spacious yet pretty private, so kids had room to move freely and didn't bother anyone. I would definitely book that area for dining with kids next time again and I must say that hotel staff are definitely very kids friendly. Everything on the platter was tasty, tea and coffee hot and strong. We had a walk through restaurant and bar and all seemed very clean. We will definitely be back, with kids as they had a lovely time.

25/03/2026: A very nice hotel, well located near the fishing port (about a five-minute walk) and Ardgillan Castle (three kilometers). The staff were welcoming and genuinely friendly. The room was well laid out and comfortable, as were the bedding and bathroom. Breakfast was excellent and varied, with fried eggs, toast, different types of bread, and a multitude of condiments and fresh produce—there was something for everyone, and plenty of it too. Dinner was different each night, featuring typical dishes, good wine, and a wide selection of beers. The room was cleaned daily and everything was spotless. We took a road trip and visited Dublin, including St. Patrick's Cathedral, Blarney Castle, Kylemore Abbey, Kilkenny, Belfast (including the Titanic Museum), Glendalough Causeway, and other sites I love and that are quintessentially Irish. We had already been to Ireland but in the South West and we were not disappointed either, two stays with countless and very pleasant memories.

24/04/2026: Restaurant only...excellent, really glad we found it. The staff were lovely and found us a table, we were lucky because it was busy. Carlingford is beautiful, and it was a great welcome on our first day. I thoroughly enjoyed the carbonnara and my husband loved the prawns. Portions were plentiful!

22/04/2026: I've only ever had chips from this place. But the chips are simply out of this world. Hot big crispy fluffy..... One day all chips will be made this way

22/02/2026: Very simple menu which is done 100%. Fish always huge and chips properly cooked (my bugbear is undergone flaccid chips)

10/05/2026: Can't complain at all . Full Irish breakfast and the egg benedict was very good . 12-15 euro but worth it . No rushing , calm and well worth a visit . Waitress was friendly and welcoming

05/06/2026: Terrible service – cold food and aggressive management We only have fast food once a month as a treat, and this completely ruined our night out. We waited 25 minutes for our order, only for the items in the meal to be served freezing cold. Items were missing, and random items we didn't order were thrown in. When we asked for the food to be changed, the manager subjected us to an interrogation. They refused a remake unless we gave a "valid reason" and then tried to shortchange our refund by claiming they could only give back half the money because the self-service kiosk number said thats what we paid and it did not print a receipt . We had to stand our ground just to get our full payment back. And we were not the only customers complaining. Appalling customer service and an incredibly stressful experience. Avoid this branch.

10/06/2026: Had not been in years but went for a work dinner. The most delicious starter I’ve had in a while with crab flatbread and a lovely ragu main too. Heaters outside make the terrace lovely even on a cold evening.

07/06/2026: Usually I’m dubious about food in gastropubs but I have to say I enjoyed the food in the bottle tower prior to our cinema trip in nutgrove! The slow cooked ribs were beyond palatable:) and they were enough to fill me for an early dinner as they came with a fresh salad and rustic chips :) I will def return to bottle tower again, staff were friendly and the food menu has got quite a variety of selection, prices were reasonable as well :)

14/05/2026: Got recommended this bar as a place for Guinness. Every pint was cream and the cheapest pub we went to all weekend. Live music but you can still have a chat. Staff are super friendly and great to tell you about the local area. I'd go back to Waterford just to go here for a pint here. Highly recommend.

14/11/2025: Absolutely wonderful place. Friendly staff, great food selection, excellent coffee and super relaxing. Lovely environment and they always play great music. I love the sausage roll and their wraps (such as spiced chicken or chicken bacon caesar) in particular. Will continue to come on my free Fridays!!

29/10/2025: The prices are great, it's easily accessible and the atmosphere is lovely. I can get there quickly from my home and take away and dine in both work fantastically. The building is also really beautiful with the plaza behind. I recommend this completely!
