05/08/2025: A treasure trove of momentos of the expeditions of Tom Crean and a great place to stop for a rest, on your own travels. I've enjoyed spending time at the South Pole Inn on a couple of occasions and I'll be back there again before too long. Highly recommended.

15/08/2025: My girlfriend and I went in to ask for a table, but were rudely told to wait at the door and that it would be free soon. So we did, and seeing several free tables, we expected to be seated shortly, just as the couple waiting before us did. But no, the same so-called maître d' who had asked us to wait after seating the other couple came back saying there was no more room. He was clearly lying and mocking us, for some inexplicable reason. This was treatment no customer should receive and a clear mockery. Perhaps even better given the shabby appearance of the place. Absolutely not recommended.

12/08/2025: This is an absolute gem. I used to go to Panem, up the street but this is objectively better. Atmosphere you won't find anywhere else. The Irish breakfast is probably the best I've had and I've had them all over. A really great good spot for Tourists and locals alike. Potato pancakes to die for. I will be back unquestionably.

05/08/2025: We called into the restaurant yesterday and had a genuinely lovely experience. The service stood out straight away — prompt, efficient, and personable. We opted for the special, the Chateaubriand (€70 for two to share), which came with two sides and four sauces. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked. For dessert, we shared a Baked Alaska, which was just excellent. The food was great, but what truly made the evening was the service. The two young ladies looking after us were an absolute credit to the place — so friendly and welcoming. That warm Irish hospitality in Ireland is something we’re known for, and sadly, it’s becoming harder to find in the industry. It was so refreshing to see it alive and well here. We'll be back.

18/07/2025: Beautiful spot just outside the phoenix park. Come here often with my dad, and we always get oysters to start which are prepared infront of you in the bar downstairs. Always get an amazing fx buckley steak, and whatever is on special that day. Great spot

22/07/2025: Traveling through the area and called ahead to reserve a table for 12. They said that they would be able to accommodate us for lunch but may need to split us between two tables. We agreed and headed over to the restaurant. When we got there, they refused to seat us even though we had a reservation. There was no explanation for why. If I could rate a zero I would.

18/08/2025: Fish( very small) and chips with mushy(dry powdery) peas at 21 euro were a bit of a let down. Fish was a bit small. This pint is just wrong. Hoping was just a bad day and Standards have not slipped here.

12/08/2025: What can I say! The food was delicious — and I come from the city of gastronomy. The oysters were fresh, the kidneys perfectly seasoned, the green beans al dente and full of flavour, the broccoli with its miso mayo was excellent, and the peas had a taste I’ve never experienced before. And it was the best fish and chips I’ve ever had in Dublin. By sheer luck, we happened to get a booth of our own — the setting was ideal and peaceful, and the service was excellent. 13/08/2025: Good shisha for €25, which lasts with flavor for up to an hour, the only drawback is that the mixed fruit flavor didn't taste like any fruit, only like a kind of mint.

04/08/2025: What can I say about Tom and this place except that it is legendary! Food is amazing. Tom is so lovely and the place has such good vibes. Tom works quietly making such creative dishes. We had our dog Mabel with us and Tom was so welcome and kind. We will be back and looking forward to being in Tom’s company again. Favourite dish? Aubergines and rice in vine leaves. Tom, keep doing what you’re doing.

26/07/2025: Heeeeeel speciaal. Zowel Tom als zijn barretje. Alles super verantwoord en sustainable. We hadden er een top avond. Maar verwacht geen uitgebreide maaltijden. Wel een heerlijke borrelplank, lekkere bio wijnen en een mooie salade met makreel bijvoorbeeld. En vooral Tom die plaatjes draait en een onderhoudende gastheer is. Absoluut geen doorsnee!
