25/01/2026: Great food but every time I order for delivery in Straffan it's at least 90min to 2 hours. I really like the staff and food but your delivery drivers are letting you down. Plus they never deliver to my house. It's 40feet away because they can't be bothered to drive in to the estate.

01/03/2026: Food is really bad. chips reheated and they tell you they are fresh to your face. Even the cat left it for the birds. Extremely disappointing.

Food really felt shrinkflation, salmon bento box is not salmon fillet or darnes - you get 4 pieces of unknown meat, looks like leftovers. Waiters speak bad English and I felt I'm bothering them every time I asked something. Much better places around

26/09/2025: We've gone to Soba in Blackpool regularly since we moved to the area four years ago, and we've never once had a bad experience. The food is top value for money and always consistent, which makes all the difference in the world to my partner, who is on the spectrum. The atmosphere is relaxed yet elegant and professional. And the staff are just wonderful. Sincere, mindful, on the ball. Our four year old insists on coming with me when we pick up food - or sit in - to say hi to Andy and his fellow staff, to pet the wobbling cat ornament on the counter, and no doubt, because I can't remember the last time he didn't walk out of there with a complimentary lollipop or hand full of candy. Fabulous restaurant in every way.

10/08/2025: The worst fish and chips I’ve ever had in Ireland. Stomach turning greasy and undercooked. Had to throw the bag out on the way home. Also charged extra for simple condiments. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

12/02/2026: FOUND STAPLES IN OUR FOOD!!! BE CAREFUL IF YOU ORDER FROM HERE. Myself and my mother have been ordering from New Empire for years, always getting the same dish, Curry, egg fried rice, chips, diced chicken and tofu and have always enjoyed it until the event as of writing happened 20 minutes ago. Like normal we ordered our usual and had begun to eat, however 2 minutes after platting the food my mother eating the rice suddenly stopped, I asked what was wrong and she pulled a STAPLE from her mouth!, we were both shocked at how this happened, and in the same moment spat out a SECOND STAPLE! At this point we rang new empire about the issue, however no matter how many times we explained on the phone they couldn't grasp the concept that my mother nearly swallowed a staple and would have ended in A&E. With our attempts to talk to management left futile we both reluctanty tried to eat the Chinese again, we both agreed that this would be the last ordering from here. After three minutes of caution I myself felt something sharp on my tongue, like my mother I pulled a third staple from my mouth. THATS THREE USED STAPLES IN ONE RICE DISH WITH GOD KNOWS HOW MANY MORE. That's when we both agreed we're done all together. It pains me to write this review as I hate leaving negative comments, however this is completely unacceptable. I have photographs of the staples however it seems I can't attach the image, If this ever becomes possible I will gladly do so. If empire would like to talk about this my phone number would be on the file after I rang to complain about this.

12/01/2026: When we arrived at the restaurant, we were the only customers there. We ordered a wrap and a braised pork knuckle rice at New Empire. After we had been seated for about half an hour, the staff served all the food (including the pork knuckle rice we had ordered) to another customer who placed their order ten minutes after us, while telling us that our food would still take longer. After a total of fourty minutes, we still had not received any food at all. When we asked about this, the staff responded very impatiently and told us that if we did not want to wait, just get a refund. My suggestion is that if the food preparation time is going to be long, at least inform customer in advance. Moreover, it is not appropriate to serve food that we had already ordered to customers who arrived later, especially after we had clearly stated that we were in a hurry and hoped to receive our food as soon as possible.

17/02/2026: A small grocery store. We wanted to buy Irish sweets. All the goods are not laid out in one place, but on several shelves. The payment system, in cash, is very strange. The machine shows that 1 cent is missing, but 1 is not accepted. The cashier explained that you need to put 10, and then she gives you 10 cents back. :)

26/08/2025: Was in there today and got myself a Cappucino, it was awful, The coffee is very very acidic, the cocoa powder they use isnt great either, its not the first time ive questioned the taste but it will be the last, I dont know if its the type of Beans, The dosing in the machine, the machine or the water but that coffee is not right. its actually sickening

31/01/2026: Highly recommend. Excellent, friendly service, stylish surroundings and delicious food. Also vg value €42 for 2 main courses & 2 side dishes. More than enough food and very well cooked. We will definitely return when back in the Kildare area.

23/12/2025: Was quiet being a Monday night (as usually closed except in December). Brought a work colleague and his parents from India and they enjoyed the food. Everyone ate vegetarian and no alcohol.

16/03/2026: soup was cold today,had to ask for it to be heated 2 separate times.Other customers also complained of cold vegetable soup

12/02/2026: I ate here a few times. My chicken wrap was fine. They kindly offered to toast it for me. The coffee was good as well. Sometimes it gets busy. It can be hard to find a table and the seats are not comfortable. Otherwise, it's a nice restaurant.
