29/08/2026: I always rely on Google reviews when choosing a restaurant, and I have to say they rarely let me down. This place was another great choice! The service was friendly and welcoming, the portions were quite generous, and most importantly, the food was really delicious. Definitely a place I would happily visit again!

27/08/2026: The pizza is good, the atmosphere is nice as well but their service and communication is not right. They have a deal for 2 but whenever I come other than Wednesday they say its only available on Wednesday and when I come on Wednesday they always look at each other faces and then talk with each other that do they want to give the deal or not. I don’t know they are running it for years and every time i found same person doing same shit.

30/08/2026: A lovely classic Irish pub, the downstairs is long and narrow but upstairs is bigger and mote spacious to stretch out in They regularly do live music which is fun, careful on Saturdays it gets very lively and busy

07/08/2026: We were wonderfully looked after by their attentive staff. A true hidden gem in Athlone, excellent food, cannot recommend the Steak Sambo enough, for people looking for an authentic “Irish Pub” feel, this definitely meets the criteria of even the most demanding traveller. We will definitely be coming here any time we are in Athlone. Superb staff and a warm welcome anytime.

04/08/2026: We enjoyed a nice lunch at the shack pub on our way to Dublin. Lindsay, our waitress, was very friendly, warm and helpful, as was the rest of the staff we interacted with. Atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, with lots of neat decor to take in. Definitely a kid friendly place. Fish (haddock) and chips were tasty and I liked that they served regular peas vs the standard mushy ones.

17/08/2026: Great place to eat. We had a late lunch on Sunday and everything was great. Service was good, all the staff very nice. My husband had the wings and special Bacon and I had the fish and chips. All great and tasty , nothing to complain. Kids menu very good plus the addition of coloring pens to keep them occupied for a few minutes was a good idea 😅. Unfortunately I was driving so I didn't had a chance to try some of their beers, but there's always next time.

16/08/2026: Super friendly staff; we got a table even though we hadn't reserved. It was very easy. The food was very good and plentiful. The atmosphere was lovely. Large outdoor seating area.

05/09/2026: Very poor coffee, tasted like same coffee beens been reused for second time. Couldn't even drink

30/08/2026: I’m not sure why this place has such rave reviews, it could have been an off day, as the pictures looked fine, I got the Janes brekkie which consisted of soggy clearly store bought pancakes, uncrispy bacon with an off flavour, and what tasted like instant powdered eggs, everything cold, and all mixed together with banana slices, powdered sugar and maple syrup. “Bizarrely bad”, as another reviewed said, is a good way to describe it. This flavour combo didn’t work at all, although salty and sweet can be nice, this was not it. Coffee also wasn’t good either.

04/09/2026: Really excellent food and superb service. Our waitress Roísín was extremely friendly and helpful. The quality of food here is sincerely impressive. I had the prawns to start which were devine and extremely tasty. I had the featherblade as my main. I wasn’t expecting it to be so satiating. The layers of flavour were something to behold. Will definitely be returning!

31/08/2026: Always really enjoy coming here with my kids. Just a small note, ye shouldn’t be running out of roast beef at 1:30pm on a Sunday lunch . Not the first time this has happened to us. Food in general is always top notch and great quality. Keep up the great work.

22/09/2026: We had the pleasure of hosing our day 2 wedding day in the hatch bar here at Clancy's and dealt with John who was absolutely fantastic. The venue is prefect for a celebration and John knows how to look after people. John thought of every detail which added to our experience and we really appreciate everything. We had Niall and Shay singing and they were fantastic, playing songs that everyone was enjoying. Would 100% recommend anyone looking for a day 2 event
