Octopussy's Seafood Tapas

17/08/2025: The food was okay overall, but not worth the wait. I had to wait around 40 minutes, which was disappointing for something that turned out to be just fine. My boyfriend really enjoyed his fish and chips, but the chili and chorizo squid was average, and the chicken wings were only okay. As a vegetarian, I ordered two sides, they were fine, but nothing memorable. We do understand that wings and sides aren’t their specialty, but we expected a little more. Out of the four of us, only one person was truly happy with their meal.
On the brighter side, the staff were very friendly, the food came out quickly once ordered (about 15 minutes), and the restaurant has a lovely view.

03/08/2025: Arrived last night without a booking and from the minute Karen met us she found us a table for two and looked after us so well for the rest of the evening. The food was top class along with the service in a very busy restaurant! Thank you Karen for giving us a memorable evening we will be back!

Straightforward, good food and good portions at a sensible price.

25/06/2025: Hall is good to host an event. Plenty of car parking spaces. The lift needs to be serviced. Myself and another person in wheelchair were injured because the lift door sensor doesn’t operate. The Food supplied for the event was 3/10.

17/08/2025: Charming neighborhood cafe with the most elegant food! Wish we had come for brunch, but the take away pastries were delicious! The staff was so warm and friendly, and it’s a great pairing with a walk around St Patrick’s Cathedral.
14/08/2025: Super spot at the Kevin St end of Francis St - a street which has changed so much since I was a student in the 90s. Now it's home to buzzy neighborhood cafes and cool pubs such as Liberty Belle. Two pups is a cafe by day and then pivots to a wine bar at night. If the cafe is anything to go by, the wine bar is a must visit on my next trip.
My Turkish eggs were first class and the granola was equally delicious, the peanut was a nice touch.
Staff were friendly and efficient. Give this place a try - it's worth every penny.

26/06/2025: Great for a quick lunch or a light dinner. You order at the counter, pay and wait at the table. The atmosphere is modern and clean, with nice paintings that catch your attention while you wait. We tried the soup of the day, very creamy and tasty, accompanied by a simple but satisfying BLT sandwich and a turkey bagel.

Carpaccio - sweet , sublime taste. Not sharp
Roll-Mops (sardines) - sharp , fresh as you would like it
Chicken salad - tasty
Mains:
Syrian Lamb - cooked tender and medium . Melts in the mouth. Once of tastiest lambs I’ve had in a while.
Pork Cutlet - nice
Fresh Chicken - cooked tender
Tomahawk Steak🥩- cooked medium ( pink) nothing left behind
Wines:
Bargylis ( Syrian Syrah) - full bodied
Amarone ( Italian ) - mellow and deep
South African Chardonnay - mellow , rich , excellent value
We also bought whiskey , and wine to take home , so really very happy .
14/07/2025: We were alerted to the good food served here by a fellow boater on the Shannon River and we had to try it for ourselves. The food was excellent. Only 1 person serving but she was very capable, did not show any pressure and kept everyone fed!

25/07/2025: Yooo one of my favourite chill bars in Cork. We had the three amigos, three stouts and then just guess which one is which. Solution is provided. Fun experience, vibes are chill, interior cool, and the staff fun. Had a good time!
16/07/2025: Best whiskey bar I've been to, incredible selection of Irish whiskey, and the experience of the flights was top tier. Cian was incredibly knowledgeable about each offering, and guided us through the history and provenance of the whiskeys and poitín he served, and his recommendations were great. If you can, ask if Sum Gai is working behind the bar, they're the bestbartender I've met.

07/08/2025: we had a great meal here. If Paul Muldoon was a great chef he might have been involved in my hake as well as our beef shin croquette starter. But Seamus Heaney might have had more to do with my wife’s spring lamb which was the star of the meal. Well mannered free verse plates.

08/08/2025: Went to find a dairy-free treat, and discovered a new artist. Sat upstairs and enjoyed beautiful art, tucking into delicious vegan chocolate mousse. Friendly staff. I hear the vegan black forest gâteau is to die for! Definitely plan on going back
07/08/2025: Excellent food and service. The seafood chowder is outstanding, it’s honestly a meal on its own. We also had a chicken club sandwich and always hungry 15 year old struggled to finish it.. The Parmesan fries are beautiful and the portions are huge.. The staff are friendly and helpful and professional.. In my opinion this is probably the best casual dining spot in Donegal town and its environs
Also the coffee and cakes selection is not to be missed.

01/08/2025: Went here after a recommendation from a friend. Very chilled out and a great atmosphere. Reminds me of my favourite pub from years ago. The first night we were there, the music consisted of Joy Division, Nirvana and Pink Floyd. In my book it doesn't get better than that. Nice mix of people there too. I'd definitely go back, and you should too. Oh, and by the way, the staff are super friendly. Tell them I send ya! ;-)
