National Museum Cafe
Dublin
09/08/2025: A museum well worth visiting.
The museum is free, and you don't need a free ticket; you just walk right in.
In addition to historical facts and artifacts from Ireland (from various periods, such as the Bronze Age and others), there are also some things about Egypt and the Vikings in Ireland.
It consists of two floors with several rooms. In one of them, there are even, so-called, mummified corpses (I don't know if they're actually mummified, but they look very similar). They're behind walls that you have to enter, and I understand that the corpses thing might not be suitable for everyone.
The visit can be very long, and that's because it's very comprehensive.
Except in one of the rooms (where you can't), you can take photos without flash. It's a shame that some people ignore the rules (the rules are in place to prevent damage to what's on display).
And in the shop, if you look carefully, you can get things at good prices. I bought two postcards, and two books, one about the history of Ireland, and another about traditional fairy tales.
09/08/2025: A truly beautiful and well-kept museum, truly interesting! Admission is free, but the visit is so enjoyable that a donation is more than welcome.

Cornerstone Bar
Lahinch
09/10/2025: After a long days travel from Dublin this was just what I needed. The waitress was top notch when I asked about the different beers and I tried a local IPA. Service was also superfast and the food came in almost as quick.
06/10/2025: Very good, absolutely recommended.

17/08/2025: A little too expensive, both for the ticket and for the price of the bottles, but you can find some truly exceptional whiskies there.
17/08/2025: Great presentation. We enjoyed it.

Baily Bites at Kish
Dublin
02/09/2025: Fish was very tender. Seating was limited
01/09/2025: Best fish and chips ever. Six of us had fish and chips and all agreed that it was the best we'd ever had. Huge amount, super fresh, crispy batter, not greasy - just excellent. And their tarter sauce is great too. And even the chai lattes were good! This place is special.

The breakfast (all day?!?) was really lovely and €14 is a relatively okay price for the size and included tea. The waiters were really friendly and the outdoor seating is gorgeous

They don't have a phone number to book a table , yet you need to book by email or some table app?

The Pig and Heifer Amiens
Dublin
24/10/2025: What an excellent little deli! The staff were lovely too. I heard the lovely gentleman behind the counter say that they never reused meat from the day before and you can absolutely taste the freshness. Will absolutely be back if I’m ever in the neighbourhood again.
21/10/2025: One of the nicest sandwiches I’ve ever had. With a name like Pig and Heifer, I wasn’t sure about what the vegetarian options would be, I got Gorgonzola and Veg on toasted Sour Dough. The produce is at the highest end you can get, just 10/10. Also, seemed to be independently owned with regular customers, good atmosphere.

Newbay House Wexford
14/09/2025: We recently had our wedding at Newbay House Hotel, and words can hardly do justice to how incredible the entire experience was. From the moment we first visited, we knew it was something special and it completely exceeded our expectations in every way.
The grounds and setting are absolutely stunning. The blend of old-world charm with modern elegance provides a truly magical backdrop for a wedding. Whether it's the beautiful gardens, the intimate courtyard, or the elegant interiors, every corner of the venue feels like it belongs in a fairytale.
What truly set Newbay House apart, though, was the exceptional service. The team was nothing short of phenomenal — professional, warm, attentive, and completely committed to making our day perfect. No detail was too small, and their calm, organised approach meant we could actually relax and enjoy ourselves. Special thanks to Maria and Rachel , who went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. They both are sunshine but in human form!!!
The food was another highlight. Our guests are still talking about how delicious every course was — beautifully presented, locally sourced, and absolutely delicious. The chef Paul and catering staff clearly take great pride in their work. It was simply amazing!
The household staff, The bar staff and the catering team – the smiles, the laughter, the good vibes! It’s so clear how much everyone loves working together.
Our day flowed seamlessly from start to finish. The venue’s layout also meant that guests could explore, mingle, and enjoy themselves in a relaxed and elegant environment.
We truly couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. If you're considering Newbay House Hotel for your wedding, don’t hesitate it’s everything you could hope for and more. We will cherish the memories we made there forever.
11/09/2025: I recently hosted a birthday party at Newbay House Wexford, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The venue is full of charm and character, with beautifully kept gardens that created a stunning backdrop for the evening. Inside, the elegant ballroom atmosphere added a real sense of occasion and made the night feel truly special.
The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and served with care. The entire team was professional and attentive throughout.
Special thanks to Maria, who made everything run so smoothly. From the early planning stages to the night of the event, she was organized, thoughtful, and always one step ahead. Her calm and professional approach really helped everything come together. Maria was a pleasure to work with and truly made the celebration feel effortless.
Highly recommend Newbay House for any special occasion.

Quays Bar
Galway
23/10/2025: Unfortunately stopped in and got terribly rude service from our waitress. Don’t know her name, she was of Indian descent. Off the bat she clearly didn’t want to seat us and gave us an odd look when we ordered a water (because we asked for it after she finished taking drink orders). She then proceeded to speak rudely of us behind our backs when we asked for the check even though we could clearly see her doing so. Maybe take the day off if you’re having a bad day instead of taking it out on your guests. Have gotten wonderful service everywhere else we’ve been aside from this spot, so probably just a bad egg with her. Cheers.
22/10/2025: A typical pub on one of Galway's central streets, the restaurant is on the ground floor, and we were seated immediately.
For dinner for two, we ordered the soup of the day, beef and Guinness stew, and sautéed mushrooms on the side, and everything was incredibly good.
The atmosphere is very pleasant, and the waitresses were very attentive and prompt.
We returned the next day for a beer in the bar area, where a live band was playing. A very pleasant experience.

Fable Bakery
Dublin
05/08/2025: I got the chocolate hazelnut bun and it was delicious. There isn't much space to sit in but well worth a visit.
30/07/2025: Fable Bakery in Dublin is a pleasant little spot, though not exactly a hidden gem. Their baked goods are decent—fresh and enjoyable, but not particularly memorable. The coffee was fine, not standout. The staff were kind and the setting cozy, though service could be a bit quicker. It’s worth dropping by if you're nearby, but maybe not worth a long detour. All in all, a good experience, just not one that’ll knock your socks off.
