The best restaurants

05/08/2026: We spent a few days in Terryglass and, out of the five days we were there, we chose to eat at The Derg Inn on four occasions, including breakfast and dinner each of the days - which says it all! The food was exceptional every single time: fresh, full of flavour, beautifully prepared, and absolutely delicious. Every meal was consistently outstanding. The service was equally impressive. The Derg Inn is clearly a very well-managed restaurant and bar, with a team that is professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Every member of staff was friendly, courteous, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The service and atmosphere are the standout features. It's warm, relaxed, and incredibly inviting, with a fantastic buzz throughout the place. The staff's friendly banter and genuine interaction with both customers and each other create a wonderful sense of community that made dining there such an enjoyable experience. We couldn't recommend The Derg Inn highly enough and will definitely be back the next time we're in Terryglass.

03/08/2026: Booked a table x 4 @ 7.30pm Sunday August 3. On arrival, told we had a 15 minute wait. Turned out to be 65 minutes, with no apology. Our order for seabass was taken, and 10 minutes later we were told it was unavailable, so a replacement main course arrived after a further 20 minutes. We ended up eating very late, and disappointed in the attitude of the restaurant manager. Such a shame, as we had excellent meals on previous occasions.

15/07/2026: Stumbled over here spontaneously while vacationing, finding the freshest and most delicious fish and chips. Had a memorable chat with some local regulars that capped off our trip perfectly.

02/08/2026: Great bar. We had coffee and milkshakes that were really delicious 🤩😍.

16/06/2026: One of the best Nepali/Indian restaurants in Cork. Loved their Paneer Labaabdaar and Garlic Naan. We had a fully satisfactory experience. Highly recommended!

01/07/2026: Coming from Asia, we don’t expect much of Asian food in Europe but this place greatly exceeds all expectations. Use the Chinese language menu, get recommendations from the hostess, and enjoy genuine Chinese dishes cooked deftly by an experienced chef.

04/06/2026: Good food, generous portions and good service. I arrived before 6pm and ordered from an early offer menu, so it was very good value.

25/07/2026: Food was good, the part of our order that was correct! The toast was brought out looking like it was either cut by a blind person or oreo the robot. No one came to follow up to make sure we got everything we ordered our if we needed anything else, or our drink refilled. The bathroom sinks are pretty cool and oreo the robot server. When one of the male servers was clearing a table next to us, he turned to ask if everything was OK? I answered no, and he turned around and continued clearing the table. The manager did finally come to apologize after being asked for him.

09/07/2026: It is a very nice restaurant, it is very clean and the vintage car theme is very nice. We ordered 3 fish and chips, then the robot came up to us, which is very high tech. The fish and chips were very good and it didn't take long for the robot to come. We would recommend this to anyone in the Donegal area, it is really worth the visit, we would definitely come back.

10/05/2026: Best Fish & Chips ever. The fish was delicious and cooked perfectly, the batter was crunchy and stayed crunchy even after been in the box (not burnt). The chips were from fresh potatoes. Serves with a little tub of tartar sauce and a chunk of lemon. A good portion so don't be snacking on the way there 🤣 There's a q of cars waiting patiently so you may have a wait. You can ring ahead with your order. The service was perfect and the lady in charge put chat on everyone. Check the opening hrs, not open on Sundays. We discovered this great spot when out for a Sunday drive so returned on a Sat and it was worth the hour drive ❤️ I have recommended to many people since my visit and it's on their list of places to get to this Summer. I'm sure they will enjoy as much as we have.

28/06/2026: Amazing food, amazing service, our server was so lovely and absolutley amazing with our picky eater kids! Really good value and such a beautiful place. My toddler who wont eat any food finished the whole bowl of soup, that is a miracle!!! We will defiently be back for lots of soup for him 🥰 Highly reccommend!

17/06/2026: Excellent food in a pub style atmosphere. More upscale than the usual pub fare. Vegetarian options. Go early or book - it was full by 18:00.

14/06/2026: Stayed in room 2 for one night with my wife .... lovely staff rooms were great ... location is amazing with lots to see around... was very noisy outside at night but thats only because the town is very busy nothing connected to the hotel ... would definitely return and recommend

29/06/2026: This is a nice burger spot. It is a little off the beaten track but it is worth the journey. The chips are homemade and the portions are generous. I recommend here if you are in the area

01/07/2026: Service was excellent. Food was excellent. It stood up to the name that the area is known for. I was shocked at the affordability too because portions were generous. The service was brilliant, well trained and well able. Guinness wasn't up to tap but I am assured by local friends that this was an anomaly.
